  1. i LOVE that you used your wedding stuff as props, ESPECIALLY his wedding shirt ... that is so hotttt! you should give him the pics right before he gets dressed for the wedding, haha!
  2. steph, you have to talk to FI about this. it is not fair to you to have to be the "bad guy" when you are already dealing with the hurdle of being the "evil stepmonster" ... no teenage girl is going to like/respect/obey her mother's "replacement." it's just not in a teenage girl's DNA. if you always have to be bad guy it will be ages before she warms up to you. if HE's the bad guy all the time, she'll start coming to you to complain about him, lol. hate to be like, "his kid, his job" but that's how i feel. do your boys show him respect?
  3. ok so faith 21 tops get an A+ ... cute, cheap, and 1x fit me perfectly. as predicted, the pants just didn't fit AT ALL. and they were the biggest size available, which was a 2x (not a numbered size ... not sure if their other pants are sized the same way). the rest of you can't judge pants by me tho because i'm extremely bottom heavy (huge difference between my waist and hip measurements).

UGH, I gained weight from when I weighed myself earlier in the week. I was so upset and didn't want to continue anymore. Anyway, FI calmed me down and I weighed myself in the morning, which I was 3 lbs less for a total of 5.3 lbs lost in the first week. So don't freak out - especially being women and depending on what time of month it is, our weight fluctuates all the time! Just try and weigh yourself at the same time of day everytime and all will be good! yup! you have to weigh yourself the same time/day every week, BUCK NAKED, first thing in the morning, BEFORE eating or drinking anything, but AFTER your first morning pee! otherwise you'll go insane!

  9. welcome! you'll love it here ... it's an addiction!
  10. congrats and welcome! you will love dreams! a few girls have recently used the resort photographer (juan navarro) and loved working with him. search the wedding reviews. sorry i don't recall how we sent our deposit ... the WCs suuuuuuck at getting back to you. sometimes i'd wait over a month for an answer, and then it would be vague or incomplete. i did have better luck when my travel agent asked the questions for me. try not to let it stress you (i know this sounds impossible, lol). EVERY bride who has been married there will tell you they stressed just to find out pretty much everything could be decided when you get there in under an hour, lol. good luck! and be sure to check out the dreams cancun thread if you haven't already!
  11. i confess that i can't understand how i'm not an elite member yet when i've spent my whole life on this forum for at least a year and a half now! LOL guess i need to become a

I am going to Jamaica next month for a site visit (doing things backwards) I selected a resort and we are now going to see the place and I will be seeing my in laws for the first time so I need to look good. oh so it's not just me then? i should write to them. also the navigation is stupid. i would like to be able to navigate ONLY within the faith 21 line (like be able to click on the "new" or "sale" categories without being bumped to forever 21 products, KWIM?). so are your FI and his family from jamaica? it sounded like you would be meeting them there. i know what you mean about wanting to look good, but his family won't care what you look like as long as it's obvious you make their son happy.
  13. i agree, this is something that SO many dw brides go through, and there is a lot of valuable advice in this thread. thanks for bumping it! that said, wow it is so weird for me to see this old post resurface (because i'm the original poster)! i am now happily married and it actually turned out that pretty much everyone ended up coming (all the important family at least)! it was crazy because we ended up with 33 people despite all the early drama (and even despite the swine flu!). back when i posted this thread, i would have never imagined our wedding could turn out the way it did. not everyone is as fortunate. sometimes, lots of people bail on you for real. all you can do is resolve to cherish those who DO come! the rest are missing out and that's their bad!
  14. my faith 21 stuff shipped so i should get it any day now! yay! but i have a gripe about their website ... if you click to view a faith 21 (i.e. plus size) item, they give you suggestions across the bottom of the page of things "you may also like" ... which is great except none of those items are EVER plus size items. so if you click them you're suddenly out of the plus section, AND you're shit out of luck if you actually really liked the thing, because it won't come in your size. i know they just got into the plus-size game with this faith 21 line, but that is just freakin' annoying. don't suggest things to me that won't fit my ass ... it's like suggesting that i try exercise. /rant.
  15. yeah, i'm very knowledgeable of all the things i'm *supposed* to do and how i *should* be eating ... i just don't do them. for instance, i STILL haven't started this CYWT diet.
  16. hmmm he doesn't really mention beverages. although it goes without saying that no sugary drinks are allowed (except on cheat day), and i do know that on other diets, 8 oz of fruit juice counts as a serving of fruit. as for the diet drinks, on other carb-restricted diets i know that drinks containing aspertame (nutrisweet) were not recommended. something about that particular artificial sweetener could trigger carb cravings, and stalls some people's weight loss (plus it's *really* not good for you). if you can find soda/pop/whateverucallit made with splenda, it's a better choice. atkins suggests you cut out all caffeine as well (hardest thing ever for me): "Excessive caffeine has been shown to cause a hypoglycemic reaction, which will provoke cravings and cause you to overeat." and also because caffeine is a diuretic, it thus negates all the extra-water-drinking you should be doing. on any diet you should be drinking tons of water but there was some specific scientific reason to up your water intake if you are eating low-carb that i now forget. long story short: diet, caffeine-free beverages made with splenda are probably ok, lol!

  18. i confess that i can't read the vegas thread anymore. now that it's actually happening next weekend and it's obvious i really can't go and that's not going to change, it's just too damn depressing.

I said I'd give it a week and then look for something that is more sustainable! lori, this one is all about portion control, and keeping your metabolism revved up by consuming something at regular intervals (6 times a day if you count the shake at night), and yes, lowering your carbs significantly. this is something that you could theoretically do the rest of your life, unlike the SHD.
  20. that's gorgeous, khomac! and what a steal!
