  2. my father in law : maryland
  3. yeah, junior jacuzzi suite in the tower. the balcony is pretty large too (that's where the jacuzzi is) and has a small table and a couple chairs out there too. also, if you get a room in the tower, there is breakfast every morning right downstairs in the lobby area ... not as extensive as the buffet at world cafe, but definitely great to be able to just roll downstairs, eat something on the terrace, and hit the small infinity pool. oh, and there's a bar down there too.
  4. meldal, i never saw the two level honeymoon suite while i was there (that's in the pyramid building), but we had the junior jacuzzi suite in the tower and it was plenty big enough to have people come back to the room to hang out. and honestly, i think it would better serve a party atmosphere because everyone would be on one level, kwim? in the videos link that chipotle posted, the junior suite is in the first video.
  5. check out the dangling wires behind us ... we don't seem to mind, lol (could we look any happier?)! later, those wires drove me insane bc they are dangling behind our heads in every single gazebo pic! and for those of you who are bummed the palapas are coming off the terrace, look at the gross, chipping paint job on the tops of them as seen in this pic of my father/daughter dance! i guarantee you won't miss them.
  6. thanks for the noms girls! you're too sweet!
  7. i'll say it again girls, the appeal of the gazebo was always its location, not the gazebo itself. your weddings will be amazing and beautiful, rest assured! you will no longer have to worry about chipping/peeling paint and dangling wires showing in your pictures! of course these are things i didn't notice AT ALL on wedding day (and only noticed in pics after being nit-picky) ... on wedding day i didn't notice ... they were the furthest thing from my mind, as i'm sure any gazebo imperfections will be on your day. and i guarantee your guests will all think it's beautiful, no matter what the gazebo looks like. most people haven't been to a DW before, and the experience/location just blows them away.
  8. that's a great thought, helen ... maybe the mods could start a "vendor of the month?" some of the vendors here are really very helpful to everyone *aside* from their own businesses, in welcoming noobs and giving details/pics of certain resorts they're familiar with, recommending other vendors, or even helping to put minds at ease, as many mexican vendors did last year during the swine flu scare. (can you believe that was a year ago?)
  9. i have to say i like it better without the "lid" on it (as they had it set up for that wedding) ... they should quit while they're ahead! really, something about the open circle is like a wedding ring ... endless, eternal ... the illustration of the final version looks like a chinese hat. oh, but please note that at ground level you do not see that huge rock jetty at all, just beautiful blue all around! so at least there's that! and, it looks like they finally centered the structural posts on the aisle ... they were off-center before.
  10. damn you, steph, you totally stole my noms! b2b: future mrs. griffith (jess) for organizing the most amazing meetup of forum members from all over three countries ... april 2-4 in chicago was the best time ever! mrs: *HOLLY* (holly, formerly scubadiva) who stayed with us, even after her own DW became a hometown wedding instead, and shared all her experiences/planning with everyone. plus, scuba TTD?!?! 'nuff said!
  11. mmmm mango tangos ... thanks for the memories, jenn! i don't even want to think of how many calories i consumed that week in drinks alone!
  12. mexican food : YES, PLEASE!
  13. it may be monday, but i only have 3 days of work this week! no big plans, except seeing the picasso exhibit on thursday, but who needs plans? at least i won't be working!
  14. wow, i just checked out the facebook page, and finally saw the new beach pics ... i wasn't sure what the big deal was until now, but now i see that the gazebo is no longer 3/4 surrounded by water. that's a huge bummer. and averagejane, they violated your contract. it doesn't matter if they've provided a "temporary gazebo" in another location or not. you definitely have the right attitude (and apparently a wonderful FI) in realizing that you'll have a beautiful, love-filled, happy wedding day no matter what. that said, do not let them get away with not compensating you for this! have they sent you a pic of the "temporary gazebo" yet?
  15. my birthday : july (happy birthday angelov321! )
  16. it's friday! and i have fun stuff going on this weekend, including the "dummies guide to wine tasting" at crossing vineyards & winery, with my bffs!
  17. provided that the new gazebo is ready by the time your weddings roll around, i am sure that you will be very pleased and happy that it was remodeled. the true allure of that gazebo is its location out there on the point, not the gazebo itself. that gazebo is really just a plain wood thing painted white, and it gets weather-worn quickly. there was a guy out there touching up paint on it the day we arrived, and by wedding day it was a little worn again. i'm sure they are replacing it with something that can better withstand the high winds and salt water spray. it's sure to be gorgeous! that said, it had BETTER be ready for you girls!!!!!
  18. lucy, nice thoughts, and i would agree if dreams cancun was an especially pretty resort, but really, it's very minimalist and older. the gazebo (or really the location of the gazebo ... the gazebo itself isn't all that) is the main reason i chose dreams. no other location there is as nice, unless you want a beach wedding, which is lovely, but was not possible for me with handicapped guests. i would have thrown a fit for sure.
  19. has not happened in over a year : going to the gym
  20. bill murray : zombieland
