So yeah, please tell me about what cruises you've been on, what you did and didn't like, etc. Thanks! i've only been on one cruise (carnival, 7-night-southern-caribbean, out of san juan). i absolutely LOVED it, and am considering a cruise wedding. i thought the food was outstanding (at the sit-downs ... buffet food was good but not spectacular), and you could order as much as you wanted (even two different entrees if you couldn't decide or wanted a little of each). the crowd wasn't spring-breaky or hoochie (haha), but the cruise was in august, so that might be a factor. there were quite a few children but there is plenty for them do to and there was a separate adult pool area. my fiance loves being on the ship itself (there's always tons to do) during the days at sea, but i preferred our many stops. i think that's the beauty of a cruise ... you get a sampling of so many different beautiful places (ours was puerto rico, st. thomas, dominica, barbados, and aruba). in talking with other cruisers, many had been on several cruises and it was split pretty evenly between those who preferred royal caribbean and those who preferred carnival. however, almost across the board, people recommended that i didn't do a cruise out of the northeast ports (ny, bayonne, philly) because the waters of the atlantic are significantly rougher and more people get seasick. sure, it saves you airfare, but you will also have less ports to visit, and more days stuck at sea. my fiance (who does get motion sickness normally) was fine on the ship with the exception of one night that it got a little rocky (it always seemed to do that on captain's night when you're drunk and wearing heels, haha)! that night we were following behind a tropical storm tho. when considering the price, keep in mind that shore excursions can cost you $40-$200. we carefully picked the ones we thought were worthwhile. other costs are your bar bill (it can really add up!), and tipping your waitstaff/housekeeping/etc. all at the end. the whole trip can be as cheap or as expensive as you make it. we booked only 4 days before the cruise left, ended up in the bottom/back of the boat/inside room but paid about $500 LESS than our families who had booked months earlier and had outside rooms on the next floor (i don't understand the big deal about a window if you can't open it anyway). also, because we booked so late, we ended up being given a handicapped room, which was twice the size everyone else's (especially the bathroom)! i've rambled long enough ... i hope this helps!

right hartyt509, so if your wedding was at 1pm at the gazebo with the reception at the tower terrace, and say mine was at 3pm, then i obviously could not have the tower terrace because your people would presumably still be partying there! marrying in black at 1pm in mexico hot hot hot ... it's probably better that you change to 4pm!

One more piece of information: According to my travel agent, in May 2009, children are free at Dreams Cancun!

Hartyt509, just wanted to give you a heads up, Daniella is offering your wedding date, but at 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, or 6pm. Looks like we all can count on there definitely being more than one wedding on our dates, huh? (At least those of us in May anyway ... seems to be a busy time for them.) I know there's another girl on BDW who has May 8th ... I got offered 4pm that day. I would be very disappointed if they were holding weddings practically every HOUR at the gazebo. But anyway, at this point I have no idea what my fiance and I are doing ... due to financial reasons we most likely have to look elsewhere (for the sake of our guests). Maybe even a cruise. Everything is so up in the air.

just be sure to keep all pics and type within the safety margin (which i think is at least 1/8 inch away from the edges). in a few of your versions you get pretty close to the edge, and you wouldn't want an otherwise very nice design to get ruined by a minor trim defect! very nice! i like #5 the best.

welcome! i'm most likely on the 14th (haven't gotten it confirmed yet), and hartyt509 is on the 15th! by the time our weddings roll around we'll all know each other so well from this forum! we can party all week, haha! happy planning!

i'm somewhat interested as well, since it might be a little cheaper than dreams cancun, but still has a beautiful gazebo out over the water. the resorts in the tulum/puerto aventuras/riviera maya areas seem to be a lot cheaper than those in cancun. i'm just worried about there not really being a wedding coordinator to talk to until the place reopens in november, and even then, will they have all the kinks ironed out by may? i would totally go for dreams tulum, but i have no interest in getting married indoors in a chapel (IMO defeats the purpose of a dw), nor on the beach (have some older guests who would have a lot of problems with walking on the sand).

My date was taken, but I already knew that through reading this forum (hi hartyt509! ). We are going with May 14th instead, so we'll see ya there Marie, unless we find out prices are too outrageous and are forced to keep looking elsewhere for the sake of our guests (I would be SO bummed out ... I've had my heart set on Dreams now for months!!). So without further ado, for those interested, the remaining dates (as of April 28th) for Dreams Cancun May 2009 weddings are: 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 and 31
