  1. yay! i can't believe it's your turn! the dress is just perfect! and omg i want that cake you're having at your AHR ... yummmmmmm! better keep your eye on those tiramisu layers, bc maryland isn't all that far away from me! hope you have the most amazing day of your life, so far!
  2. cary elwes : the princess bride
  3. breakfast : for dinner tonight! (my fave!)

  5. sorry debbie, i was always at the swim up bar around noon, lol! actually, i think i spent my whole week there ... anyway, from what i remember it seemed to always be windy at the gazebo, except for the day i got married. seemed like a blessing (i was able to wear my hair half down and wear a veil too), but it was ungodly hot without a breeze!
  6. yup, the service is fantastic there! they really go out of their way for you ... constantly bending over backward and saying, "it's my pleasure!" if it's still part of the package, definitely do the private dinner (we did ours out on the pier) ... it was so nice to have a moment alone together without our guests, and the service was amazing. haha our personal waiter kept calling me "the queen" ... another beverage for the beautiful queen? lol seriously tho, it was one of my favorite experiences despite salad blowing all over the place.

  8. hmm this whole thing really piqued my curosity, so i looked further and just found this: (Mexico Entry Requirements Immigration Customs Lone Parent) Passport Validity The maximum period of time that a visitor may stay in Mexico without a formal visa is six months. Therefore your passport, regardless of country of origin, should be valid for a minimum period of six months, however long you intend to stay to avoid any potential problems at the port of entry. Immigration authorities at the port of entry may allow or deny entry of any person into Mexico. If you have a passport that is valid for less than six months and you intend to stay in Mexico for a short period of time -- perhaps a vacation -- the Immigration Officer might allow you entry. Notwithstanding this, we recommend that you and your family members hold passports valid for at least six months from the date you plan to enter Mexico.
  9. debbie! i loved my wedding at dreams and i'm sure you will too! i worked with claudia, but met cecilia while i was there and she was very sweet. dreams has changed a bit since you were there last ... they expanded the tower beach and also just recently replaced the gazebo with a newly constructed one (same great location). there are some pics in the dreams cancun thread carolina already pointed you toward. you'll find tons of info here! happy planning!
  10. i got married at dreams cancun, not cabo, but the dreams chain of resorts are fantastic (and dreams cabo is so beautiful)! if you haven't already found it, you'll want to check out this thread ... you'll likely find all the info you're looking for and more: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...o-brides-8810/
  11. you'll be absolutely fine. i think it would only pose a problem if it was to expire within a week of your travel, kwim? because anything can happen (like the icelandic volcano ash that prevented flights out of europe for a bit) ... in the event of some unexpected delay, you wouldn't want your passport to expire before you were able to get a flight home! 3 months? you're golden!
  12. first of all, off topic: kris, your siggy pic is amazing! who was your photog? damaris, wow, it really seems like everyone has this happen to them with a DW ... i agree it's bc people think the wedding doesn't cost you anything bc the resorts are AI. thankfully we only got hit with two additional guests, and i at least knew them (longtime friends of the family), so i ended up actually sending them invites. i think autumn hit the nail on the head with what you have to tell people ... they are welcome to bring along whomever they'd like to enjoy the vacation with them, but the wedding events are intimate, private affairs.
  13. hah! and then the thought of working so hard to lose the weight just to put it all back on via pregnancy ... ugh! but yeah, i understand ladies. i'm sooooo out of shape right now i couldn't imagine being pregnant, especially in the summer ... i thought the heat was gonna kill me yesterday. i know i need to do something about it NOW. my husband as well. he went golfing yesterday and texted me to say he's not golfing another round until he loses at least 20 lbs. he was dying. and ugh ... obese, pregnant, AND almost 40? that's like a triple whammy of high-riskocity (yes i just made up a word). i'm not trying to conceive yet, but my advanced age sure is making me run out of time to "get healthy beforehand."
  14. loooove everything ... your cake cutting set with the beads/stones is one of the things i planned on DIYing but ran out of time, plus then my mom gave me a lenox set at my shower, and i think she would have felt badly if i didn't use hers, kwim? but i love yours! are the freeze dried orchids ok to bring across borders? they are beautiful! even if not, i think you'll be fine as long as your luggage isn't searched. my MOH brought her BOUQUET home from mexico in her luggage and didn't get caught! so excited for you!!!

  16. diva, not sure there will be enough time since you'd be mailing it to canada, and because steph isn't sure of her wedding or travel dates yet. to be fair, we have to give her first priority on the clear starfish bc she asked first, kwim? there is no official list keeper, but i'll add you to hold your spot, conditionally! dc22173's CLEAR starfish line-up: 1 ) ebredhawk - April 28 - Dreams Punta Cana 2 ) ldeavila - May 10 - Las Caletas, Puerto Vallarta 3 ) butterfly4kathy2 - May 11 - Las Caletas, Puerto Vallarta 4 ) future mrs. kt ellis - June 5 - Scottsdale, AZ 5 ) *kerin28* - June 19 - Worcester, MA 6 ) Bahiabride2010 - July 3 - Punta Cana 7 ) jackie_c - traveling 8/12 - 8/21 - Cancun 8 ) breeze616 - December 10 - Iberostar Rose Hall Beach, Montego Bay 9 ) diva - 3/14/2011 (traveling 11-20) - Punta Cana 10 ) StephyD - 3/26(?)/2011 - Riviera Maya
  17. the clear starfish with his travel journal: in my bouquet:
  18. cindy, my hair wasn't quite as fancy in the back as the inspiration pics but despite a lot of the curl falling out it managed to look a lot better than i thought. it felt DISGUSTING because of all the hairspray, salt air, wind, humidity, and the fact that i was sweating BUCKETS, but then i'd look in the mirror expecting the worst and was like hey, i still look pretty good! i think it depends on how well your hair holds a curl tho in general.
  19. looks like you're the first 2011 bride, steph! don't need any other info yet. only the person who ends up having it last before you will need to PM you for your mailing address. just when you do know your wedding date for sure, let us know in this thread so we can update this list. dc22173's CLEAR starfish line-up: 1) ebredhawk - April 28 - Dreams Punta Cana 2) ldeavila - May 10 - Las Caletas, Puerto Vallarta 3) butterfly4kathy2 - May 11 - Las Caletas, Puerto Vallarta 4) future mrs. kt ellis - June 5 - Scottsdale, AZ 5) *kerin28* - June 19 - Worcester, MA 6) Bahiabride2010 - July 3 - Punta Cana 7) jackie_c - traveling 8/12 - 8/21 - Cancun breeze616 - December 10 - Iberostar Rose Hall Beach, Montego Bay 9) StephyD - March 2011 - Riviera Maya
