Ya, I have had so many issues thus far setting up a date! But we are finally set and confirmed and paid for April 21st...lets just hope there are no more problems or more double bookings!!!! and also, for those of you worried about the 2 business days thing- its not set in stone, and they easily change it so you can be there less than 2 business days! You need to go thru your TA for this to happen!

I recently had to switch my wedding date from April 7th 2009 to April 21st 2009. When my TA called to cancel my April 7th wedding date @ 4pm on the beach, the Riu said that there were 2 weddings booked for that date and same time and wanted to know which one to cancel. This frustrates me!!!! Does anyone else think that this is wrong?!? If we never had to change our April 7th date, I wonder when we would have been informed that there was another wedding booked on our date and exact same time?!?!?! Or even still, would they have contacted us, or would we have found out in our meeting with Chandlyn when we got there?!?! My TA was furious that this would happen and made sure this would not happen for the April 21st wedding- but who really knows! The Riu couldnt explain how this could have happened and why they would have allowed this to happen in the first place. UGH! This bothers me a lot...I don't know if anyone else is worried about this- because before this happened, I was nnever concerned nor thought that they would double book a wedding for the same time and location..... I dont know if some of you may want to double check with the resort to make sure no one elses wedding date and time is double booked!!!!!!

Our wedding is in April 2009 and we have only pretty much told our immediate family and closest friends our idea. The rate that we got coming from Toronto, Canada was almost $1700.00 per person. At like you, I was very concerned about telling people esp with the economy! Everyone in our family was very supportive and liked the idea. My oldest brother and his wife are expecting a baby in Jan 2009 and he already told us that they wouldnt be attending because they simply cannot afford it with the baby coming along.. We found with most of our friends, they liked the idea and said they would love to come, but when the time comes to putting down deposits, I guess it will truly show who is actually serious about it!!! I have come to terms with it, and I have full out decided that this is what I want. I prefer it if not a lot of people come, that is why I wanted to do a destination wedding in the first place. Now I just have in mind, "If they really want to come to your wedding, then they will, no matter the price". I also found with some friends that they were planning a vacation/trip for 2009 anyways, so why not come with us and see our wedding and still have their vacation. I think you will be surprised by the amount of people that will actually want to come and be there with you when you eventually tell them! Dont worry!

there are tons of BD photos on this forum to give people and idea of what it is...it seems like quite a few girls are giving BD as their gift to their husband

oh so about the same..i actually think its closer to 1700, but oh well!! I am still trying to figure out if I can arrive there the Saturday and get married on the Tuesday. If they wont let me do this, then I will have to arrive the Thursday but fly with another airline that doesnt do hotel and packages together so the price will definately be over ther 1700... I wrote emails to the Riu and Chandlyn, but nothing....FRUSTRATING- because I cant tell my guests or plan anything until I know when WE arrive. URGH!

I just copied and pasted this from the email I got after I requested a date. *Weddings for 2008: if you do not confirm your wedding IN THE NEXT 30 DAYS, the wedding request will be automatically canceled. *Weddings for 2009: your wedding request will be on hold until you can make your room reservations.

After I requested a date, it said for any weddings in 2008 you had 30 days to confirm or you lose the date...any weddings for 2009, you can wait until you book rooms/.

Congrats on picking a place! I felt so relieved and happy when I finally chose a location too, and a date!!!!
