  1. Thanks for the welcome everyone. Im so relieved we finally made a decision. It was starting to feel like we would never find a place. Im starting on a website and my sister has offered to do my STDs as im not very crafty. I have found so much good information on here, everyone seems very helpful.
  2. Hi everyone, I am a brand new Paradisus Bride, April 29th, 2009 and I just wanted to say hello to you all!!! I have been reading through this post and there is a ton of great information here already. I am so excited the resort looks amazing and Perla has already been great at responding. What did you girls do next after everything was confirmed? I have been looking at resorts and destinations for the last 3 months and now I have no clue what to do next!!!
  3. Hi Everyone, FI and I have FINALLY picked a resort!!! After nearly 3 months of looking all over the Caribbean we are getting married April 29th, 2009 at the Paradisus in the Mayan!! We are sooooo excited and finally feel like this is real. Now I get to do all the fun stuff!!!!
  4. Hi everyone, For finacial reasons my FI and I are having to look at another destination other than Jamaica as Jamaica is looking to be a little more than we had originally thought. We are now looking into going to Punta Cana but one question we have is it seems like there isnt alot to do activity wise outside of the resorts like there is in Jamaica and we are wondering if the resort themselves provide enough options and acitivites for all ages to keep guests happy for the whole week? We have never been to an AI so going to a huge resort is very new to us. Thanks for your help
  5. Hi everyone, I am considering getting married at the Iberostar Rose Hall and am wondering if anyone knows how the beach is there? I want to get married on a white sand beach and am looking for a place that has some privacy for the ceremony as well. Thanks
  6. I havnt been worried at all about going down there. I have done some backpacking in some not so good locations around the world and you just need some common sense, your going to find problems in every country. It wasnt until my friend mentioned violence and crime down there that I thought I would look more into it and see if I was missing anything. Im still Jamaica bound though and cant wait
  7. I am thinking about sending my STD's out by email and adding a link to my website that has all of our wedding information on it. My question though is is it acceptable these days to send an STD/invite through email? I can see it being ok for our friends who are our age and use email on day to day basis but for my parents and their friends/family friends we are inviting will it just seem tacky?
  8. So I just told a good friend of mine that we have decided to go to Jamaica for our wedding and she proceeded to tell me how it is very unsafe to leave your resorts because of the violence down there. I had heard about the high crime rate in the bigger cities but I am worried now that this might be true. Has this stopped anyone from going to Jamaica or has anyone heard about the amount of violence outside the resorts?
  9. Nevermind I think im going blind!!!! I didnt even see the sticky at the top of the page..........
  10. Im still pretty new to this site and Im wondering if Sarah has a website/link so I could see some of her work? Im not the most crafty person so Im a little hesitant to do my own save the dates /invites. Thanks
  11. Hi everyone, Just a quick questions for you, we are looking at the ROR for our wedding but am wondering from past brides what your guests all thought of the resort? We have a wide variety of invited guests - families with young children, teenagers, singles, couples and parents. We are trying to find a resort that offers something for everyone along with good wedding options - we figure the ROR must be doing something right as it is so popular!!! Thanks alot
  12. Thank you for all the advice, I am going to go check out wedding windows and get started on our website!!!
  13. Hi everyone, I am starting to look ahead to getting my STD's out and then starting on my invitations. Im a little confused though as to what information goes on what. I have looked through this forum and found some excellent examples but I have just a few basic questions that Im hoping someone might be able to help me with. What info goes on the STD and what info goes on the invitation? I have noticed in examples some girls put an RSVP on their STD's without including any information about the trip and Im wondering if guests respond to this RSVP without the information (ex:cost, resort, flight information) Once the STD's are sent out, do you only send invitations to people who have shown interest? Or do you send proper invitations to everyone you sent a STD to? (If you didnt put a RSVP on your STD - how do you know who is truly interested?) Does a wedding website include the same information the invitations include? Should I send out the invitation first before I put all the info on a website? Im just very confused as to what to do, any help you girls can offer would be appreciated Thanks
  14. Hi everyone, We are looking at the Majestic Colonial resort in Punta Cana and Im curious to know how private the area of beach is that is used for the beach ceremonies? Does anyone know if the beach is exclusive to the resort or is it a public beach? We have our hearts set on a beach ceremony but would prefer a private area of the beach as we dont want people in their bathing suits lingering around and walking in front of the cermony. Thanks
  15. Hi everyone, Im new to posting on this forum, but have been reading alot of the posts for Jamaica and the DR. My question is regarding the fact that most resorts have mutiple weddings a day, are they spaced out enough inbetween the weddings? Did any past brides end up running into another bride getting ready in the salon or see the other weddings happening at the resort/or have the same locations for the reception? Even though I know there are other weddings going on I would still like to feel as if it was still "my day" in a way. Thanks for your help
  16. Hi everyone, Im a newbie destination bride to be!! I think I must be crazy as I have just cancelled my plans for an at home wedding and have made the leap to a destination wedding. Has anyone else done this, and if so did you end up regretting not having an at home wedding? We are planning for Nov 08 - not sure where yet. Let the fun begin!!
