I want to FIRE my bridal party...

Two weeks ago Tim and I chose the suits for the guys and we ordered Tim's suit that day. It came in last week and we were totally excited! Once we chose the suits we called all the guys to let them know that they needed to get over to Men's Wearhouse ASAP! Because the suits we chose for them to choose between are from last season and they are in limited quantity. The cheaper one (which is the one they will all want) has fewer then 10 left in the COUNTRY! The best part about is they don't have to pay for it until they go for their alterations and that just needs to be done before SEPTEMBER!!!! So I'll we're asking is that they just go over and get measured!!! I really don't think that's asking much! My brother who is the youngest groomsmen and is a poor college kid went last weekend to order his.....he was the first and so far the ONLY one to have done so! Both of Tim's brothers are well establish 30 somethings and should not be giving us a hard time with this but of coarse they are! I'm pissed, I sent an email out last Sunday urging them to get this done ASAP!!!! NOW.......as for my bridesmaids....WELL that's a whole nother thing entirely! I have had to ride some of these girls HARD to get them to order their dresses... And that REALLY disappoints me, I chose these girls because I didn't think these things would be issues for them. I thought they would be on top of their shit! Now my sister tells me tonight that she has sent numerous emails about my shower and she gets no response from ANY of them! I expected this from my 20 year old cousin but not from my future sister in law and my close friend Denise! I am just so disappointed, because I bend over BACKWARDS for my friends and would do anything for them... My friend Denise.....I threw her a baby shower when she was pregnant with our flower girl and I pulled out all the stops! Corrie, she's getting married a month before us.....but I have been on top of her shower planning along side her sister! Now my sister is really the only one who has been doing her share and then some! And it just really upsets me that she's meeting these obstacles with my bridesmaids.... I know that MY wedding isn't everyone else's priority but when you take on a role in someone's wedding you are to pull your weight! That is your job as a bridesmaid.....right! I purposely chose my girls with all these issues in mind figuring they WOULD NOT be an issue at all! I'm really just embarrassed to call them our Bridal Party! I am just so upset........ because we have bent over backwards....me especially to make sure that our Bridal Party wouldn't inconvenienced anymore than the traditional wedding which why we paid for their accommodations for at least a week. I don't think I'm asking for much....just asking our wedding to be somewhere on their priority list... I just feel like I can count on any of them with the exception of my sister, brother and one other groomsmen! Bridezilla is about to make her debut!!!!!!!!! Is anyone else having this problem? Holy smokes girl. You have one hell of a lazy wedding party. You know what I would do given its a destination wedding, I would keep your sister and boot the rest out. They don't want to help out they don't need to be in the wedding party. Friends and family should want to do this kind of stuff for you. Tell them they are more than welcome to attend the wedding if they wish to pay for themselves. It sounds like they are taking advantage of your good nature. You can still have a nice ceremony without the big wedding party. This is what I am doing and its been working out great. She's got to do all that fun stuff with me and there was no conflict or differences of opinion. I hope all works out for you. Good luck. -

Stay away from chiffon unless you like stuff that is clingy.

There really are lots of ROR brides. I am jan 09but my wedding has not yet been confirmed as I am waiting for rates out of the US (date has been reserved though). Would you girls suggest we make our appt with Chandlyn from home before we arrive at the resort? I have read on these threads that she is hard to locate. Has anyone went to the pool in between the wedding and dinner? This was an option I was thinking about...all have some drinks around the swim up bar. My wedding is at 1pm and I will have some time to kill. Any thoughts

Gran Bahia Principe vs. Riu Ocho Rios

We tried group rates with the airlines but because of the economy and the industry - it was not much of a discount. We have friends from Toronto, who are on the fence about flying from T.O or Detroit - they could probably save about $150-200 flying from Detroit but have to make the 4 hour commute to get here. 2 hours from London might be worth it... Funny - just noticed tons of Canadians on this thread... I have this as well . There are probably 4-6 of my guests that live in the toronto area. My family was leary of flying from the US but if it will save us money we were gonna do it. You don't believe it will eh?? That sucks if it doesn't as I waited an extra month to get rates and book my stay/wedding confirmation at ROR. -

One quick question I have for all you ROR brides. Do any of you have the photo package info? They don't have any of that for MoBay yet and I wanted to get a general idea of budget. That's gotta be soo exciting. I am sure you will have a great wedding. There are several packages at ROR..it all depends what you want. Go the riu.com site and look at weddings. It gives you a rundown on all the packages.

We've narrowed it down to 2: Gran Bahia Principe (Runaway Bay) OR Riu Ocho Rios PLLEEASE HELLLLPP!!!!!!! Picking the resort is the stressful part I found. Do what the two of you want and don't let other people make your decisions..that's my advice Both hotels are very high quality hotels. I am not too sure on Gran Bahia but it looked nice when I was checking out the sites. ROR is a very large resort so if you have a lot of guests planning on attending it would be ideal (if you don't all want to be together). ROR also offers a free wedding package. If you are considering the wedding there, you should maybe look into wedding dates..they fill up very quickly. If I can help with any other info on ROR (i am getting married there in jan 09) let me know. I am always willing to help. Happy planning! -

Riu has a new resort opening up in Montego Bay on Aug 29 this year. Has anyone looked at or considered it? I know ROR is popular and seems to do a good job. It's just the 2 of us so we don't qualify for the free wedding but we'll manage. FI wants to go to Cancun, but I'm still secretly hoping for Jamaica and think this resort might be a good one to convince him. The price for the first 6 months its open is unbelievable. Cheaper than we could do Cancun, PV or Cabo for. I e-mail the resort and they won’t start booking weddings till the resort is open, which worries me a little…but we might just book the trip now as the price is too good to pass up. If any of you Riu brides have any helpful suggestions, I’d love to hear them. I seen this resort on the Riu site and it looks amazing. It may be a good option but I would be a little leary as it opens in August. It might take a bit to work out their glitches and such. If your wedding was in say mid to late 09, I think it would be perfect. Doesn't hurt to look into it.

Small wedding, I mean really small
chicklet replied to Librarychick's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I think a small wedding would be great! You wouldn't need to divide your time amoungst people and you could still qualify for a group rate if you wanted (10 is the group rate min). -
May have a wedding dress!
chicklet replied to CarrieRN's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I am not surprised that its popular. The dress is gorgeous..it was the first one I tried on. Its more expensive in canada though..I tried it on twice..once in my hometown (it was 650) and again at a bigger bridal store in London (it was cheaper ..575). You got a great deal! For $26 for jewellery, you can't go wrong. You will have to show me forsure! The dress looks great on you btw..I would of picked it over the second one. -
Hiya! New ROR Bride Here...Questions!

A few details of my wedding... My name is Tanya and I am happy to say that I am marrying Jeff. We are getting married at ROR on November 19, 2008. We will be married in the gazebo not on the beach. So far it's a small wedding with maybe 10 people. I have purchased the Royal Wedding Package, additional champagne & flowers for my MOH & BM. I plan on having a small dinner - restaurant suggestions would be great! We are getting married at 11am. This will allow time for pics, champagne etc. before dinner. I hadn't planned on renting the disco at all so if you can offer any suggestions for somewhere to chill after dinner that would be great! Flowers...what do they have to offer? We are going with a light blue/tan..does anyone know what colors are available for flowers? I planned on having a day trip to Dunn's Falls with the wedding party - our gift with a girls/guys night. Any suggestions for on favours would be great too! Are you sick of me yet? I'm just really not sure what to expect. Ohh pictures..the package I got includes 12 pics, cd & album..are additional pics expensive. I'm planning on having my aunt take a few pics too cause I really don't want to pay for extras. So.. all in all I'm nervous because I don't know what to expect and emailing the resort seems to be a bit tideous since it takes forever for a reply - rightfully so I'm sure she's busy! Thanks again...I'll be sure to put a pic in my siggy soon! Welcome!! I would second the motion on looking into the free package...you can just do the upgrades you wish. I am doing wedding location upgrades and maybe some pictures. If there is anything, I can help with just give me shout!! Happy planning and enjoy! -

Anyhow...here are the pics. details Party frock Holy smokes...this is the dress I tried on last week and will probably get for my wedding. Its a gorgeous dress and very comfortable. We're back! Our wedding was perfect 22/04/08

The staff is very friendly, food is very good, and resort is very clean. We got there Saturday night. It was a long day but everything when well at the airport and the transfer also. We met Chandlyn Monday morning cause she’s not working on Sundays. She is very nice, very professional. It took us less then half an hour to choose everything. There was 4 weddings on Monday and 3 on Tuesday. Our wedding was at 4 p.m. We took some pictures before the wedding because the water is bluer between 12h and 3h and to make sure we have enough time to take all the pictures that we wanted. My flower was perfect I had mango and cream roses it was worth every penny. The ceremony: The minister was awesome. He did a great job. Everyone was impress of the ceremony. The only think that when wrong is in the middle of the ceremony the minister was talking about patience and how we have to make our relationship work and all of the sudden we heard a woman yell at her boyfriend or husband and she throw a bottle of beer at him. The bottle felt down and broke in million pieces on half of your guest. But the minister was very good and he calmed down everyone and he make a joke out of it because he was talking about patience. Dinner: Before leaving I reserved the Mammee Bay for the wedding. Because there was 3 weddings the day of our wedding and we were a big group (41) they moved us at the plantation ….FOR FREE!... I was really happy with that. The plantation is more private and it’s bigger. Mammee Bay is also great; I wouldn’t hesitate to go there. Seagrape: Very fun! The men were at the Bar with the bartender the hold 2h30. We dance in the sand it was very fun. The only thing is that Seagrape is just under the stage where all the shows are so we could here the show pretty good from Seagrape. If you bring your own music make sure you have good speakers. Photograph: We didn’t have any problem with Micheal. He called at the room the day of the wedding to ask us if we were interested in is service. I told him that we had family to take picture for us. He said: ok and have a great wedding. He was very professional. Our wedding day was perfect! I didn’t want the day to end and I wouldn’t change a thing. Heidi: I saw Edmond the day of our wedding. We were walking at the room to get some things before going to dinner. I told I’m you said HI and he was so excited. He makes us a special drink also. Cost: 250$ for the minister, 380$ for Seagreape, 200$ for flowers and 45$ for 3 extra bottle of champagne. 875$ I’m sure I’m forgotten something but if you have any question just asks. I will be more then happy to answer them. I don’t have any pictures right now but I will post them as soon as I have them. Congrats! Glad to hear everything went well for you. Sounds like the resort is super nice. Can't wait to see some pics! -
