Sunquest/Northwest Bookings for 2009

My long ROR review! Finally!
chicklet replied to amandalovesryan's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Good review! Sounds like you had a great time. Congratualations. -
Great review and you looked beautiful. Sounds like your entire week was perfect and Chandlyn really came through and made your day special. I have read reviews in the past little bit where things really sounded unorganized and not up to snuff so its great to hear you had such a great week. Which package did you choose?

You look beautiful and had some great pics! Did you find you were hot during your ceremony? Your dress seems poofy like mine is gonna be ..just curious if you had trouble with temp. -
I have been waiting several weeks for rates. I finally have my rates from both Detroit and Toronto. My problem now is that my wedding invitations are just being sent out and Sunquest is saying we need to out downpayment down pronto to receive the rate quoted (1675) and Northwest is saying we have until June 3 to receive that rate (1625). Don't you usually have a month or more? We are really used to booking last minute so not sure how the group thing works. Anyone else run into this problem of companies not holding rates very long?? Any suggestions as to what to do as some of my guests won't be aware of the wedding until they receive the invite and may want to wait a month or two before booking Help!

Congrats! I have heard Negril is beautiful. I know it must be such a relief to have it done. I am in the process of getting my rates and booking as well.

Mosts rates from toronto have been via sunquest and around 1700.

I'm sorry to hear that things did not go as planned for you. Did you talk to the Riu at all and let them know of all the blunders that happened? Maybe they could compensate you some way...it was your wedding day and you did bring a bunch of guests to stay at the hotel? I would look into this. You were unbelievably accommodating in their mistakes. If you have more pics, please post!! congrats! -

J. Crew Sanur Dress

Keep that in mind. -
I know I have seen thread posted in regards to songs to walk down the aisle to. I was wondering..if you don't have the steel drum band playing, does chandyln have a selection of music you can choose from to play as MOH/you walk down the aisle? I thought about doing my own music but wasn't sure how long the aisle was (therefore how long the music would need to be). Any info on this would be super

Gran Bahia Principe vs. Riu Ocho Rios

I've tried to go back to our TA to negotiate, but she says she cant budge. She was able to drop the deposit to $200 per person. I dunno...this is soooo hard and I feel like we're running out of time! Do you gals think $1700 per adult guest is too high for the ROR? I don't think that is too bad. Maybe talk to some of the girls that are getting married in May 09 or 08 and see what they paid. You should choose a resort that you are going to be happy with and if that takes extra time so be it. If guests want to come, they will come no matter where you choose. If you are worried about a wedding date, you could go to the Riu site and request the date. They hold it for up to 3 months and if your rooms are not booked by then they release it. That way if you chose ROR you would have your date . This is what I did due to waiting for the US rates. Just a thought. -

We also just picked out and paid for our wedding rings... not bad for one days work! Anyways, I am so excited to be apart of this site, and am anxiously trying to get as many points as possible to be able to fully access this site. If anyone has any advice or fun tips let me know... Once again hello to all! Welcome to the forum! There is lots of Jamaica info on here. Happy planning and enjoy! -

Besides being jumped on about the cost of the vaca/ wedding for guests...(Which is another story for another thread if I get to it)....They didn't appreciate my STD's (again another story) and now I am getting awkward emails regarding guests.. OK on to the question, sorry I am aggravated! My FBIL sent me an email asking if he could give the resort info to a friend (that is on our list and we sent a STD to ) because he was looking for it.. This is understandable since I know that this guest hadn't recieved the STD yet.. On the other hand I was like.. Look at the STD - the info is on there Michael! I have the info EVERYWHERE and I am getting stupid questions, like who do we call?! Then on another line he asked if we needed another friends address since they exprssed interest in going... thing is we weren't going to invite them! he wanted to know if I had sent STD to everyone or if they were going to find it on their own.. So now I don't know what to do, especially since we JUST sent out the STDS and people have not recieved them.. DO we send one out to this other friend that wasn't invited but wants to go? I just have a feeling that people are finding out via word of mouth, that we are aquantiances with but that is all- and they think that it would be cool to go on vaca with all of us. It boils down to the fact that I don't think people - even my closest friends and family realize that this is a REAL wedding and there will be a REAL reception and there is still an invite list...... I am concerned and want to make sure that I follow etiquette... Then again I know that some of my guests have invited other friends of theirs to join them on vaca for the week... So do I invite only my original guests to the wedding and if there ends up being more "friends" that decide to vaca that week, dont' include them in the festivities? Seems rude.... It's your wedding and your day! Don't forget that. Tell people that you made your guest list and have only planned for those people to attend...if they wish to bring a guest along on the trip so be it but make sure these people don't make you uncomfortable or would ruin your trip. I would invite only the people you want to the wedding and dinner/whatever you have planned. You shouldn't feel guilty about anything...its your day and its the one day you can think about you and you only!!! Do what you think is best Hope it all works out.
