The resort is absolutely gorgeous, staff quite friendly and its known for weddings. The co-ordinators know their stuff forsure. Good value for your money is also a factor.

That's a super idea! It sure makes me miss Jamaica! There is nothing like it.

ROR- Opinion from past brides!!
chicklet replied to btn1091's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I think a lot of it is how you make it yourself. We got prime service from a couple bartenders at the bars while in between the wedding and dinner...we never waited for a drink. People around the resort were also good ..lots of congratulations and I had a chance to talk with others brides too (prior to wedding). It was neat. I found that Chandlyn was very busy but also had it together..she knew what you wanted and followed through. I would totally do my wedding there again ..there are just a few personal things I would change (not being so nervous throughout the week). -
ROR - Restaurants and Bars Questions
chicklet replied to TandDJamaica09's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Dunns River bar was our favourite at night. Its over towards the mammee bay restaurant and the staff that work there are the best. Throughout the day we were usually at the pool bar which is connected and you can sit at tables too. -
Weather in February & Bugs???
chicklet replied to jamaica2010ms's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I was there end of jan and think the bug bit is blown out of proportion. I had a couple bites on my legs but nothing to worry about. You will notice it a little more if you are on the beach (we were our second week). Just take some off and you should be ok. -
We did a cake topper. It was a nice memento of our day. It now sits on our mantel in our living room

Ahhh Jamaica!! Looks like you guys had a great time. Pictures were awesome..you guys looked wonderful. I agree with you on skyservice, not an enjoyable flight. Congratulations!

I argued with my friend because I have heard absolutely no negative comments until now...any thoughts from those who have been married there? I didn't have much negative to say on ROR. We had a very excellent vacation and a lot of good times. I felt we were treated quite well on our wedding day. Bartenders and staff had our backs all day. There were some things in which i shrugged off but I wouldn't say it was anything too major. Three weddings on our day as well. I rather enjoyed it ...had a picture taken with another bride and we shared some of our experiences.

ROR Brides - if you could do it all again

I would have felt like I didn't have a vacation if we hadn't had the second week to enjoy the resort and the country. This is soo totally true. You are hyped right up with emotion the first week and also trying to spend time with everyone. The second week is much more relaxed and have you time for yourself. -
Any Jan 2009 brides still around???

Mine was here about 2-3 weeks ago. I got married on Jan 22 at ROR. You might want to contact them and see what the hold up is. -
Weddings at Noon, dinners at 6......
chicklet replied to divadivine25's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
We went to the pool in between and got spoiled by the bartenders. Some of our group played a game of poker...everyone just kinda did what they wanted. It's a nice break between the ceremony and the party plus lets you get out of the wedding dress for a bit!! It can get quite hot. -
ROR Brides - if you could do it all again
chicklet replied to jawedding's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I would forsure do it again. We had a blast. I would pick the same resort as the staff really made our vacation fun. If I could change anything, it really would of been to not be soo nervous about everything and enjoy my first week a little bit more. I think the amount of money we spent on photography was crazy and wish we hadn't of chosen soo many pictures. I would of also done a short rehersal before the wedding as well. The party on the beach looked fun afterwards too!! -
Sloan's RIU Palace Tropical Bay Wedding/Honeymoon

Yup, goood old fingerhole questioned my marriage license because of the way it was worded...got out the old bible on certificates and the whole damn to do!! Pathetic. Eventually they did change it though......be forewarned...they take your picture!!!! mine was a doozy. Here the stuff i had changed.....bills, licence, ownership, health card, credit cards, banking info. I am gonna wait to do my passport until it expires as it costs the full amount again just to change your name. Hope this helps -

Great review!! Glad you guys had such a great time. Congratulations on being a mrs...now the fun begins trying to change your name! They questioned my marriage license (took 3 months to come) at the licence bureau. I must say the beaches in negril look way nicer than the ones in ochie!! -
ROR - Wedding May 8th - RAIN
chicklet replied to foundmyprince0907's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
If it rains, sometimes they will wait to see if it passes. This happened to the wedding before ours ..and it did!! If they decide to move your wedding, it will be in the Mammee Bay restaurant. Here's hoping it behaves for you!!! We had a lot of rain in our second week in Jamaica. -
We took 350 each. We used it all too ...did the dunns river falls and a sunset catamaran. We tipped the staff fairly well too and added some extra pictures for our wedding cd.
-
I used registered mail and have heard other brides just sent via regular mail and everything turned out ok.
-
do you have rings?? writing your own vows?? You could put together some music selections (if you are planning on using your own music) and your documents will need to be sent to ROR to arrive one month before your wedding (if it was me, I would do this early to mid june). Other than that...sounds like you are all set. Just sit back and enjoy.

Riu Resorts: time frame to confirm wedding date/time
chicklet replied to jennie's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
It only took a few days for mine to come back. I booked at Riu Ocho Rios though and had my travel agent do the booking for me. I then had three months to get my group (10 people) booked and deposits paid. This was the most stressful part of the whole process for me.
