Everyone, Since saying yes to my FI, I've thought of nothing else but making my wedding stationary myself. Even my FI wants us to make them. I'm almost done with all the designs and am ready to print my STD's, so I decided to go visit Staples last night to check out their printing services. Now after seeing a project they put together for their wedding services, I'm worried that my DIY's are going to look cheap and unprofessional. The example they had on display, just did not look right. I left there on the brink of tears and have been in a state of panic ever since. For those that have done their DIY projects, please give me some reassurances that my printed projects will come out beautiful. I'm open to any suggestions, anything that you think would help. To add to the rest of my anxiety, my future MIL is on my case about everything where the wedding is concerned and the last thing I want to deal with is negativity from her about the way the invitations, etc. look. Am I just being overly sensitive about this? I haven't said anything to my FI or BM's, so thanks for letting me vent. I really appreciate the forum for this. I think I need a DRINK. Jamie.

Townie Princess, Good Job!! Quote: Originally Posted by BarefootBride I think they are so cute! Your guest are going to love them. FI had to persuade his grandma that it wasnt a real ticket! I want no 'mixups' at the airport! Jamie

Sharon, I wouldn't worry about it. Usually when it rains, it rains in the mid afternoon and dries just as suddenly as it comes. I think Mother Nature does this to balance the heat. I'm sure you'll have great weather for your wedding. Jamie

I haven't quite thought through how I'm cutting them out as yet. I think I'm leaning towards D cause they look easier to cut out. I've started to put my template for my STD's together, I'll post those once I have them completed to show everyone. Jenn3878, thanks, but I can't take all the credit. I just built on designs that Aylee shared with me.

Is anyone buying their BM dresses??
MarchBride replied to cessyboston's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I'm having two BM, one of them being my unemployed sister, so I will be paying for their dresses. My FI is also thinking about paying for the outfits for the GM, but he hasn't quite made up his mind on that as yet. -
I've started my first DIY project fror the wedding. It's a luggage tag template that I plan to use for my STD's, seating cards and perhaps r.s.vp. cards. I'm a little psychotic and have designed four different ones, each with subtle differences. I need your help to decide which one to use. Please take a look and give me your preferences. Once I choose a template, I'll post the finished product. I appreciate any responses I get. Thanks! Luggage Tags.doc

Has anyone, who's already been married in Jamaica, experienced any problems bringing items such as programs, favors, OOT bags, etc. through customs. A family member of mine who got married there said that she had to pay duty on many of her items including her wedding dress!!!! She actually lives there, so I can understand the dress, but I don't want to be surprised at the airport. For brides going soon, please check this out. If anyone can offer any light on the issue I would be most grateful. TKS.

The Knot Guide to Destination Weddings

I used the Sandals wedding planner software. It's great and free (except for a few options)! If anyone wants to try it out, here's the link: Wedding Planner Software -
Getting "married" before DW?
MarchBride replied to AmandaR's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Nothing was different for me, except for the paperwork. Once you communicate to the resort that you want all the frills of the wedding, except the documentation, they'll be more than happy to accommodate you. Quote: Originally Posted by Asteff2001 For those of you who opted to get married legally before your DW, did you do anything differently to arrange a symbolic ceremony at your location? Is it still considered a "wedding ceremony"? To us, our wedding in Jamaica will be our official wedding since our families will be there and we will say our vows in front of them. We actually lucked out and didn't have to pay to have our paperwork processed, and I only just now thought about getting married beforehand to move things along logistically. I just want to make sure that if we go this route we still get to enjoy all the perks of having a wedding there, not just a vow renewal, which at our resort doesn't include what the weddings do. -
Getting "married" before DW?
MarchBride replied to AmandaR's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
My FI and I are getting married almost a year before our 'real' wedding in JA. The decision for us was easy as our situation was a little complicated. He and I live in different countries (he in the US and me in CDA). When we looked over the immigration documents for me to move to the US after the wedding, it stated that if we got married in JA, my visa and immigration documents would have to be issued from JA, which meant I would have to move to Jamaica and wait until my visa was issued and then leave from JA to the US to be with my hubbie. NOT GONNA HAPPEN! So since we had already started telling people to plan for a wedding in JA, we decided to do a low key, court house ceremony before the wedding for legality sake. No one knows and we've decided to celebrate two anniversaries, but chances are we'll only celebrate the one with all our famililes and friends. -
twelve_piece and geology_rocks, Thank you both for your responses. I will try to get in touch with them today.

The website for the location is Bellefield Great House & Gardens. However, what turned me on was pictures from Wendy & Gareth. Check it out. J

Hey there, A friend of mine got married last year in September and didn't get her marriage license until December. As well at least one other person I know didn't get their document until about 3 months after the wedding. I'd suggest asking your Sandals wedding coordinator, but realistically plan for waiting at least 3 months. J.

Hello Everyone, Jamie here. I'm of course new to the forum. My wedding destination is Montego Bay, Jamaica on March 21, 2009. I'm hoping that being a member of this board will help to make the process a lot less stressful. I will share any information I have to help you with your planning. I've gotten quite a bit done so far. For our wedding, my fiance and I didn't want to do a beach wedding, so we're going for a garden wedding at a restored sugar plantation. It's absolutely gorgeous and I am really looking forward to the planning and the wedding! Happy Planning, J!
