  1. After many ideas and mind changes we have booked our wedding at Playa Pesquero in Holguin Cuba! I've heard great things about the resort and our TA Lyndsay has been awesome. I can't wait to start spreading the news and continue on with the planning.
  2. Your dress is so sweet. The bridesmaids dresses are are really pretty too. You might want to check out the J Crew website in their bridal section. They have some nice options in the pink colour you have shown that area a good in between style (not too dressy but still really pretty).
  3. Your dress is absolutely beautiful, so romantic. That is awesome of your mom to do that for you. You must feel such a weight off your shoulders and I'm sure your mom is happy to be able to contribute in such a special way.
  4. Your pictures are stunning! I love love love the colour of your BM dresses!
  5. Hooray!!! Glad to have another Cuba bride!
  6. I'm torn between Barcelo Marina Palace in Varadero and Playa Pesquero. Our date is really close to yours, we're looking at January 19th 2009, arriving at the resort on the 17th. Both resorts look amazing, there are pros and cons to both resorts and wedding packages. What made you choose Barcelo Marina Palace??
  7. I vote for the first one, it looks beautiful on you! It's also the exact same dress that I just bought!!! It's so flattering. I am choosing to add a champagne colored sash as well. Good luck with your decision, you will look absolutely beautiful in either dress!
  8. I finally got approved to take my 5 days off in January to get MARRIED!!!
  9. Congratulations!!! I'm getting married in Cuba, January 2009! There are actually a few of us if you look under the Cuba thread. We are currently looking at the Barcelo Marina Palace resort and are very close to booking. Do you have any more info? Been to any of the resorts in Cuba? I am so curious about everything and don't want to make a big mistake when choosing a resort. You've definitely come to the right place for wedding planning. These girls seem to have ideas and advice on every detail you could think of!! Happy planning! Connie
  10. My Mom is a plus size and she found a really pretty dress at Penningtons. Their prices are also quite reasonable.

  12. Oops, I made a mistake. I meant Barcelo MARINA Palace. It's in Varadero. I guess that's what happens after spending WAY too many hours browsing the forum.
  13. I love it! I've been thinking about doing a monogram as well. How did you get started?

Thanks for all the compliments ladies, you sure do know how to make a girls day!
  15. Haven't heard from any of you Cuba brides in a while. How's the planning going? Any more advice on locations? We're now considering Barcelo Maya Palace, as well. The location looks nice although I'm a little worried about all the reports about crazy mosquitoes on trip advisor. Anyone been there? In January?
  16. Okay, so my FI has requested "no crowns please." I really tried to avoid tiaras but they're just so cute. So....I'm calling this a sparkly head band. Here's the question, I would like to wear the head band and veil for the ceremony then take the head band off and wear a flower and the veil for the reception. My hair needs to be up as I have some major frizz issues. Any suggestions for what I can do with my hair that will work with both accessories?
  17. Not a food but the Ceaser post reminded me that you guys in the states have Absolute Peppar Vodka! Now make a ceaser with that!!! So good! Also, Choxy chocolates. In Canada we have white (actually clear) vinegar which is amazing on fries. Our BBQ sauce is also very different than yours, even at McDonalds. I know these are not foods but we drive 8 hours to Minneapolis for David's Bridal, Kohls, Gordmans, Victorias Secret, Bath and Body Works, H & M, etc.
  18. Speaking of shipping items to the destination, does anyone know what the costs involved are? How much and what type of items have you ladies shipped ahead of time?

Wow, that is our planned wedding date too and we are looking at Playa Pesquero. Can I ask what the glitch was with the date? Also, how much is it costing per person to get there? I just got some quotes back from Puerta Vallarta and they're completely unrealistic. I'm feeling like we're gonna have to push the wedding back a month to make it work.
  20. I guess the good news is that it looks really pretty outside. It's funny, my plan was to do some yard work this morning. Looks like I'll be staying in.
  21. I cannot believe that it's almost May and we're having a snowfall warning!!! I've called in sick tomorrow for a doctors appointment. If school is closed tomorrow due to snow I'm gonna be super pissed! Will winter ever end?
  22. There are some beautiful dresses for Mom's on this thread! What a great idea! Anyone have any ideas about outfits for plus-sized mom's?
  23. Sorry folks, I'm still new and didn't figure out how to send a PM (private message) until earlier this evening. Does anyone have pictures of a wedding in the gazebo?

So, it was an easy choice for me. Let me know if you need any advice. For some reason I can't figure out how to PM you. Just curious, does Play Pesq. have more than one area where you can get married? Do they offer chair covers? I would love to get some more info from you
