  1. I think it's stylish, super original and if I were one of your bridesmaids I'd absolutely LOVE it! It's something that can def. be worn again because it's so chic ~ great pick!

I think I am gonna go make my husband breakfast now...might as well be productive. Well let's preface this all by saying I'm a completely mad and work like a crazy person with several jobs, and yes I've been tired since I've pretty much graduated from college, lol. At night I work as a News Reporter for a So Cal newswire service, basically breaking all news in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties. I get the story, do the leg work, research and then write it up, send it to my editor and he puts it on the newswire which gets sent out to all our clients ~ all the major news outlets here in So Cal, including the Associated Press and law enforcement agencies. I'm pretty much the only News Reporter up during these ridiculous hours but in essence writing up the morning newcasts. It's kinda cool to see the anchors or reporters reading my stories word for word, but again the hours suck ass!! Then on some days I do actual television reporting for local cable stations in my area during the daytime ~ that's usually entertainment or sports related stuff, which I LOVE! All that on top of raising a 13 year old daughter who's going through puberty (YIKES) and planning a wedding ~ yes my life is MADNESS So if you're ever online and can't sleep ~ I'm usually on the forum when I'm not swamped with work just reading through threads, racking up points, tee hee. Hmmm...can't seem to think of an alternative to warm milk....I'll have to get back to you on that one MMMmmm...the thought of breakfast sounds so delish right now!!
  3. Sorry to hear you're up at this ungodly hour, it totally sucks when you can't sleep and know you've got things to do the next day. I would suggest a glass of wine, but you're preggers right? Hmm....how about some warm milk? My mom used to make that for me when I was little and couldn't sleep If it's any consolation, I'm up from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for work ~ yep it blows!! I've been doing it for a year now and I swear no matter how much I sleep I'm still exhausted. So believe me, I feel your pain girl!!

We need to have a So Cal get together for the BDW brides and I promise to bring some to the party!!!
  5. Happy travels Alyssa! I'm sure all your hard work and preparation for the big day will pay off and you will have an amazing wedding and a wonderful time! Can't wait to see all the pics when you get back!!!

  7. These are beautiful, what great talent you have!! Although the little ones may not know how to appreciate such a gift now, these portraits are timeless and will be so meaningful to them down the line. I agree the child's parents however will LOVE them now and always!

I'm getting married on Las Casitas Beach and having the reception at the CEA Center with Turtle Bay Cafe catering everything, Jen is my coordinator. We could not be more excited about everything!! We are actually renting the Casa Romero compound right on Yal Ku Lagoon for the week of the wedding, so it will be right in our backyard ~ free access 24 hours a day and we are thrilled!!! So I will definitely be doing TONS of snorkeling throughout the week
  9. These are gorgeous and your guests are going to love getting a set of these in the mail! You did a wonderful job ~ congrats!!!
  10. Thanks EVERYONE!! And yes ~ I love the turtles too. But at first the placement of the turtles was a huge pain in the ass because my mom and aunt are so superstitious about where they needed to be placed in order for it to be considered "good instead of bad luck", lol ~ crazy Filipino ladies, let me tell you. 11. I feel your pain ladies. These airline price hikes are stressing me out , I'd hate to see the price of plane tickets soar even more and prevent some of our guests from even thinking about going.....*sigh*
  12. Another thing you can do, which is what I did, is try asking some of your favorite restaurants in the area if they cater. A lot of times, because their business doesn't just focus solely on catering events, the prices will be cheaper and more reasonable. I am having my wedding in Akumal, Mexico and a restaurant in town, which we LOVE, is catering our wedding reception. The owner of the restaurant also happens to be my wedding coordinator Per person we're looking at about $65 per person for a cocktail and passed appetizer hour after the ceremony, a buffet dinner which includes five entrees (beef, chicken, fish, shrimp, and a pasta dish), three stationary appetizers, two salads, four sides, a small wedding cake with cupcakes for the guests, drinks (punch, lemonade, bottled water, peach champagne) and open bar (we will provide our own alcohol, beer, wine and from Costco but this price also includes our hired bartenders). Oh yeah, that per person price also includes linens, chairs, tables, taxes and tips, etc. When we were scoping out other venues (resorts, private catering companies, etc.), the per person charge was astronomical ~ definitely outta our budget. So my best advice is to really do some leg work, make some phone calls, send out emails and see what kind of response you get. Luckily Cabo has tons of great restaurants to check on. I truly think there's something out there for everyone's taste and budget!

My best friend is getting married that day & they rented 2 large plasmas for the reception I LOVE that idea! That is so something I would do especially if we were getting married on a USC vs. UCLA game day! My FI is a UCLA Bruin and I'm a USC Trojan, so you can only imagine how those sports conversations go . . .
  14. You gals are after my own heart ~ I do some work in sports and am such a sports fans, but college football has to be in my top 3!! There is nothing like watching CF games all Saturday long I see some of you are OSU fans ~ I'm actually a USC Trojan alum!!!! So needless to say, I CANNOT WAIT until the showdown at the Coliseum on Sept. 13th Many believe the winner of the this game will likely be playing for a BCS title at the end of the year ~ I can't wait!!! Let the games begin

We have to do Sunday to Sunday because of our check-in days.
  16. Well my wedding is not till next June, but I am stressin over how expensive flights are with the freakin airline and gas crisis! This past June, FI and I paid $420 each for direct flights from LAX to CUN for our site visit. Now, a direct flight went from $570 on Saturday to about $620 today. WTF? So over the weekend I sent a group rate request to Alaska Airlines, and yesterday I received a quote for $550 direct flight roundtrips. It would be immediate family -- about 25 of us -- traveling on this particular reservation. I have until tomorrow to lock in...but do you think that's a reasonable rate or is there a likely chance it might get lower?? Or should I jump on it now? TA's or ladies: Is a $550/pp, direct flight RT from LAX to Cancun a decent price??
  17. It's sssoooo true about how Filipino moms just throw ingredients into a pot or pan and make it up as they go, lol! My mom has so many recipes that are just engrained in her head, and I can't even count the times she's "created", as FI likes to say, based off whatever she can find in the refrigerator Ya gotta love it ~ but believe me it is such a pain in the ass if you're on a "need to be a skinny bride diet" P.S. ~ how did the pancit recipe come along Was it yum??
  18. You look absolutely gorgeous!! Your man is gonna go bananas when he see these
  19. Thanks for the compliments everyone! I was so eager to get a logo done once I saw everyone's else wonderful and creative monograms. So I was planning on getting one made, but my little brother stepped up and told me to let him try making one as part of his contribution to the wedding preparations, and I could not be more grateful!! He's now on a mission to make stickers, tanks for my BMs, etc. He's truly amazing and I feel so blessed to have such a talented artist in the family cause Lord knows my stick figure expertise would not have impressed anyone, lol
  20. I have no idea what happened, but my thread titled: "My custom logo made by my brother " in the Invitations, STD's, etc. forum was posted 4 times!! Yikes Can a Mod show me how to delete a thread? Or if I don't have the ability to do it myself, can a Mod please delete the extra 3 for me?? Thanks so much in advance
  21. My perectionist brother, who is a super talented artist, finally finished our wedding logo!! I had to share it because I am so pleased about the way it turned out and how he incorporated our colors into it along with what our location is known for ~ Akumal aka "Place of Turtles". My brother spent hours redoing colors, the design, the font, etc., sometimes because I was a bit bridezilla, lol. But also because he is such a perfectionist. And it was all done freehand on his computer sketchpad which absolutely amazes me!!! Anyhow here it is....

Plus I've got tons of pics of both accommodations and of the beautiful grounds.
