  1. Oh Lisa how I LOVE you!!! Your thread had me crackin up And WOO HOO I am a slutty red shoe girl too!!! Your thread is beautiful -- and this is why I also hate you, I am so behind in doing all my reviews and planning thread. I so need to get on the ball
  2. hmmm this guy sounds like a jerk and could potentially cause you stress leading up to and possibly on the wedding day -- and believe me you're already gonna be running around like a mad woman so you certainly dont need anything else to worry about. If you're dead set on having at this place then it's a matter of getting everything from this point out in writing. If you can stand to lose the deposit, or like other have said, can contest it on your credit card -- then I would say change the venue and keep your peace of mind in tact. Sometimes your sanity is worth a loss of dollars. I'm sorry you're having to go through such a horrible time with this guy -- he sounds like he's trying to nickle and dime you for everything = JERK! Plus I gotta say the whole living upstairs thing is weird and I'd feel totally awkward about that too.

  4. Thank you girls Stephanie -- first dance was so fun and everyone was going nuts, lol Jess -- your time is comin girl!! You will love Stephanie and Isaac ~ can't wait to see your pics. We've got all ours on discs now (2000+ photos) and I'm weeding through em -- there are so many GOOD ones it's so hard to decide what to put in our albums. Anywho, you made an awesome choice with them!
  5. great choices ~ you gals deserve it!!!! Congrats
  6. aww how awesome for her ~ even as a toddler, Nahla is so stunning just like her mama, whom I think is one of the most beautiful women ever! Hopefully they'll get a boy this time around who grows up to be just as hot as daddy, lol
  7. While I can see why you should take it as a compliment that she's jockin your style, I'd still be pissed bottom line! Those are your ideas, your vision and she' s basically piggybacking them, which sucks and I woulda probably gone nuts had a friend or relative done that with me when I got married, lol. That being said, aside from venue -- are you totally tied down to your ideas? I noticed your wedding is more than a year away, and with that in mind there is lots of time to tweak or change some things. While most brides have a certain vision in mind when planning their weddings, I know that I kept looking at tons of photos on decor, style, etc. and my ideas evolved even up to the last couple months. And since you are a member of this forum -- which has an overload of brilliant ideas from so many talented members -- trust me, it's easy to get caught up with so many fantastic options! At the end of the day your weddings, while at the same venue, may end up being totally different -- yours 100 times better of course With that in mind, I would definitely stop sharing your ideas with her. If she ever asks about something, just say your undecided and still looking. And when she shares something with you, be neutral and don't show your like or dislike for it. Time to keep that sharebook shut! Just remember, you've got this forum and that will give you the edge hands down no matter how hard she tries to emulate your wedding vision!
  8. Aw thanks Tammy ~ can't wait to tell Tommy about the "hot hubby" reference hehehe ~ he's been a bit moody lately (tore his MCL playing basketball), but that'll make his day
  9. Tommy and I had the most amazing wedding day and we are so glad that we hired whom we think is THE BEST videographer in Cancun/Riviera Maya in Paul Schrank and his company Playa Weddings Playa Weddings - Video and Photography in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya I’m still working on all my vendor reviews -- sorry I'm so behind! But in the meantime, I wanted to post a link to our “Wedding Day Video” edit, which is a compilation of the day’s events in about a 10-minute piece full of love, laughter and good times! HERE'S THE LINK: MarieSam & Tommy's Wedding Day Edit on Vimeo For those interested, it includes a glimpse into: 1) the Mayan Cosmic Ceremony (an AMAZING experience that is beyond words) 2) the beauty of Akumal, Mexico (a hidden town in between Playa del Carmen and Tulum 3) our “surprise” first dance -- yes we did one of those and it was a blast *I will post the full dance once we get it online! Aside from this, he also gave us a clean edit of the full ceremony and the reception hours he covered, and all our raw video -- everything was shot incredibly well and given to us on blu-ray discs -- it looks fantastic! Paul and his assistant did not miss a beat and we could not be happier with the outcome ~ oh and he was even gracious enough to use some of my photographers images throughout the video edit. Playa Weddings is AWESOME!!!
  10. If you implement the search feature and type in each of those names separately, you should find some reviews or previous posts from past brides.
  11. I would say go for it, engagement pics are a great way to document your relationship/love but best of all they allow you a "practice session" before the big day. FI and I had never taken pro pics before and having an engagement session was a great way for us to work out all the kinks and uncomfortableness of being affectionate in front of the camera. In the end I think it really helped us look natural in our wedding pics. It's also a great way to get a feel for how your photog works
  12. YAY I love BDW contests ~ totally want to get married again just to be a part of this Good luck gals!!
  13. Jac, these are ridiculously incredible!!! That location is amazing, what a fabulous experience for you guys
  14. Well first of all Jac, your photographs are absolutely beautiful and you look uber gorgeous!!! It looks like you guys had such a blast and really enjoyed the area, as I knew you would because who wouldn't love paradise?!?! On another note ... Jenn and Natalie did such a great job for our wedding, it is so so disappointing to hear they didn't provide you with what you wanted and expected I'm sorry that you didn't get the service you deserved, honestly I don't know why they weren't on top of their game for you, but they certainly shoulda been! I'm upset for you At the end of the day though, I'm really happy you guys had such a beautiful wedding experience and from the looks of your facebook pics, such a great vacation!! Cheers to you and your new hubby, my fellow Akumal couple Any plans to return to Akumal?? We are itchin to go again sometime next year! PS -- Your lil mama is just too too adorable She's gonna be a heartbreaker!
  15. awww love it, going to FB add you now!!!
  16. I totally voted!! That commercial was so cool and I'da voted on them even if they weren't your friends Fingers crossed they'll win the whole shabang!
  17. There's already a thread similar to this one already up with lots of ideas on how to get ready for the big day http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t41266
  18. I think the one-shoulder is super cute! And if it's really weighing on the mind, it looks like a dress that could actually be shortened and still look divine. But I think keeping it long is just fine too ~ you and your girls will looks wonderful either way
  19. Andi, you made a gorgeous card!!!! What program did you use to make the collage? I LOVE it and totally plan on doing the same

My personal favorite was their tres leches, it was TO DIE FOR!!! Like good sex, hehehe We ended up with a tres leches cake then cupcakes (red velvet, chocolate, white and tres leches). I do know some of their other choices were poppy seed, lemon and carrot with all sorts of fillings. But truly, the owner Jen is really accommodating, so let her know your favorites. If you're a chocolate lover, I would highly suggest getting their chocolate covered strawberries -- so, so, so good! We had them dipped in milk chocolate and white chocolate, they didn't last long at all. We also had them make an assortment of chocolate chip, white choco chip macad. nut, oatmeal and mexican wedding cookies. All gone by the end of the night!!! I will have our pro pics of our desserts either by tomorrow or Saturday and will post so you can see
  22. great idea and they are so well put together, woulda never guessed they were DIY
  23. We have friends who own a private transportation company in the RM -- Sauce Vacations. Super nice drivers, brand new and always clean vans/vehicles. They also have really nice buses if you've got a large group. They also offer tours at discounted rates if you'd like to get something together for your group as well as airport transfers without the hassle. If you use them, they'll even set up a special page on their site just for your guests to use. They did that for us, and now have one up for another bride I referred to them! I actually think one of our wedding pics is on their page, lol Let them know MarieSam sent you and they can hook you up with a good price The owners (our friends) are Sylvia and Ismael -- here is their website Cancun and Riviera Maya Transportation Good luck!
