    Mom Rocks

How incredibly sweet of your mom, that is such a special gift. Isn't it crazy how the gestures of our parents can mean so much? I think mothers are what makes the world go round ~ mommies are amazing!!!
  2. You should also check with Cecilia Dumas, I think her prices are comparible, if not cheaper and she does great work from what I've seen. Good thing is your day is not till Sept. so you've got plenty of time!
  3. I definitely say the blue -- it seems to flow with the theme better!
  4. WOW your wedding looks heavenly!! Those are some amazing pictures ~ I absolutely love the use of the silhouette of that tree, your photog did an absolutely wonderful job capturing the beautiful atmopshere not to mention the gorgeous couple Congrats to the newlyweds

I just push buttons Well then you are quite the button pusher, one of the very best in fact! And true indeed you had both beautiful people and things to photograph...
  6. Of course you looked gorgeous, and your dress was divine! Congrats to the newlyweds, your day looked like perfection!
  7. Oh my gosh, I LOVE THEM!!!! So while they may have costs you more than expected ~ they are fabulous and you should be proud. I'm sure your guest will LOVE them The postcard idea of you guys holding the date is awesome, such a great idea
  8. Fellow Filipina bride here We are not really infusing any of the Filipino traditions into the wedding, but rather embracing the local traditions in the Cancun/RM area and having a Mayan Cosmic wedding, which from what I've been told is extremely spiritual, emotional and very unique My parents, both of whom migrated from PI, have really assimilated to the westernized culture, except for of course the obsessive need to feed everyone who walks through our door till their beyond stuffed, having a "party" for no reason at all, eating rice and fish religiously, and doing the rosary for every occasion imaginable, etc., etc., lol They were not too happy about us not having a Catholic ceremony at first, but knew I really had my heart set on a beach ceremony -- plus FI is not Catholic nor is he Filipino. So my parents are happy with the fact that the Mayan Cosmic ceremony carries a lot of spiritual meaning. We will also end up getting our marriage blessed by the Church when we get back home. The one thing we have brought in Filipino-wise -- is asking some couples to be our "sponsors", but moreso like Godparents to our marriage without the financial obligations, responsibilities, etc. Three couples on my side, and three couples on FI's side, and each couple will have a part in the cermony. We're pretty excited about that because they are all couples that we love and adore, and of course have great marriages that we hope to emulate!!
  9. Aside from photographers, the couple participating or a previous DW groom/bride, I don't think many people understand the concept or beauty of a TTD session. Frankly, I had no idea what it was until I joined this forum, lol. But of course after seeing the amazing pictures and becoming a wedding photography obssessed whore ~ I am now determined to have my own fabulous TTD photoshoot!!! I too think you should show your mom some sample pictures, but even after that, she still may not understand. I think what makes the TTD session special is that it captures that exciting moment after all the wedding stress is gone and you and your new hubby can just enjoy the start of your lives together as husband and wife. Some of the best pics I've ever seen on this forum are in TTD sessions. So girl, if it's what you want to do, and FI is on board...then I say GO FOR IT!! These pics are of the two of you to enjoy and cherish. Although no one else may understand the importance or meaning behind them, who gives a rat's ass, JUST DO IT!!!!

  15. That is a beautiful set, I absolutely LOVE the plumeria and orchid mix! Are you going to use the hair flowers? I think they would look gorgeous in your hair. Now you'll have to keep us posted when the flowers actually come in ~ I'm so glad it all worked out Now go and enjoy that wedding!!!!
  16. There are many photogs who are willing to meet you at another location off your resort ~ in fact, I think most couples do their TTD sessions somewhere other than their resort to get a background/atmosphere that is different from their wedding day pictures. So I don't think you'll have any problem at all! Next step would be finding a local photog who offers TTD session since you're using the resort photographer for the wedding day, and luckily in the Cancun/RM area there are plenty! Off the top of my head I know there is.... (you can google all these names and find their websites): - Claudia Rodriguez - Cecilia Dumas - Vanessa Vargas - Michael Maurus - Del Sol Photography - Elizabeth Medina (she lives in another part of Mexico and requires at least 1 night stay - this is her policy at least for weddings) - Moments that Matter Photography - Playa Weddings - Octavio Montes Can't think of anymore at the moment, but I'm sure you'll have no problem finding someone who can fit your needs and budget ~ can't wait to see the final product TTD sessions look like so much fun!
  17. Hi gals ~ well after going through a holiday slump I am slowly getting back on track...we are all less than 6 months out and that is starting to freak me out!!!!! I just had a bridal trial the other day with a hair/makeup stylist that I am hoping to bring with me to Mexico...but we'll have to see if we can work out the details/contract! Keeping my fingers crossed Other than that, if you can believe this, I DON'T HAVE A DRESS YET!!! Yes I'm nuts, and I think I'm going to try stuff on this weekend. Yikes PS -- I am sending out my invites mid to late March ~ I already sent out pretty detailed STD's in Sept. and most of my guest have already RSVP'ed and visited our wedsite
  18. Ooooh Jacilyn, I like those playing cards....everything actually looks super cute!! I just went to Michael's today and didn't see any of that stuff. Hmmmm...I wonder if it hasn't made it to the stores on the West Coast yet?
  19. OMG Casey that video is freaking hilarious, hahahah, I'm so gonna send that to my friends. I LOVE it!!! Thanks for making the start of my work shift a little more cheery, I am dead tired and needed that pick me up P.S. does the snuggie really look like that? I thought I remembered it being more roomy??
  20. Everything looks like perfection ~ can't wait to see the pro pics!! Your dress and veil are gorgeous, as I'm sure you were too! And your decor was impeccable ~ congrats
  21. Kathy IT IS STUNNING on you!!!! You are gonna be one beautiful bride. I LOVE the corsette back, honestly your FI is gonna be blown away when he sees you

  23. Hey there, this topic was once discussed in another thread -- here's that link: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t33949 Unfortunately, the consensus wasn't that good based on past research and experience, but that's not to say your experience couldn't be a positive one if you decide to do it.
