She said if I wanted it to be 3 tiers she would charge me $250. Jacilyn, so glad you were finally able to speak to Jenn -- your cake sounds delicious!!! I'm sure it will be yummy and beautiful, FI absolutely LOVES raspberries so he will be jealous when I tell him what you're getting Aside from our cupcakes and little cake to cut, we recently decided to have TBC make us some chocolate covered strawberries (white and regular) and choco chip cookies too. My pants are busting at the seams just thinking about it, hehehe, I can't wait!! Quote: Originally Posted by Tlseege Yeah, I wonder what they'll say about that. They are really brilliant and I have heard WONDERFUL things about their food and their location and I was TOTALLY bummed that I couldn't make it work with my resort. Abbie, I too would highly recommend that you go and check it out! lol, Trish that kinda makes me chuckle that she labeled it your cake Jenn is headed to Cali this weekend and is supposed to call me, so Im going to try and figure out a way to ask her about it without offending her, lol. And that totally sucks you couldn't use them for your wedding ~ did you at least end up with a good cake?

First off congrats on your upcoming wedding! You must be so excited A lot of brides utilize the beautiful cenotes in the area for TTD pics and of course there are so many beaches in the area that would be exquisite backdrops. I know between Tulum and Playa del Carmen there are tons of fantastic beaches along that stretch. I would definitely do a search in the Cancun/Riviera Maya section for good locations as any applicable rules, entrance fees, etc. to the cenotes or beaches have been discussed thoroughly in the past. Hope this helps, and wherever you decide ~ make sure you share your pics with us!!!

Playa del Carmen Hair/Makeup Salons
MarieSam replied to texas_gal's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
Hi girls ~ I know a couple of you have asked about Doranna so I wanted to share the pics she provided to my wedding coordinator who met with her in February. My WC was also able to arrange discounted pricing because I have at least 10 girls that would be having hair and makeup done. I don’t like to post prices on the forum because they change so often, so if you’re interested feel free to PM me! From what I was told Doranna has a girl that does the makeup, and she apparently uses high-end stuff from Italy. Also, important to add that Doranna told my WC she has not had a lot of experience with ethnic hair, but did not say she couldn't do it. Nevertheless, that was a concern for me because I have 3 African-American BMs and FI's mom. So that’s something to think about for brides/BMs with textured hair. All her work looks beautiful and she is really talented, but yes she is pricey. Just as an FYI, I decided not to use her because I am bringing my own stylist who offered me a great deal that is actually costing me less. But I have no doubt Doranna is probably one of the best in the area and would have went with her otherwise! So here are the pics, her work looks great! -

WOW lots I've been missing out on -- but it seems like the choco pretzels are a hit and lots of Lorna Doone fans. I too LOVE the cheetos, I forgot about those!!! Thanks everyone ~ I will be making a trip to the store for new treats tomorrow -

Yep I agree with the other gals, stick to your day. If they can't deal with the fact that it's on a Wednesday, then tough. And Carly's right, not everyone is gonna be pleased, so screw it -- do your thing and be happy Sometimes wedding guests can be such a pains in the ass!

I like 4 and 3 -- they both look fabulous on you!!! And heck no, nothing is "too much" or too formal for just you two. It's your day, celebrate it looking absolutely gorgeous in the dress that you love -

Quote: Originally Posted by Abbie mariesam, are they in akumal? do they have a website for the bakery? might have to check them out in person for you, do a little samplin' Abbie you are too sweet And yes they are in Akumal. Jenn, the owner of TBC, is actually my wedding coordinator and also catering our wedding reception. When we did our site visit in June, we ate at their cafe 4 times ~ once on the house to sample everything we wanted at our cocktail hour and reception. It was FREAKING DELICIOUS!!!! Then about 3 hours before we left back to Cali, she had her baker make me about a dozen tres leches cupcakes -- super yummy!!! But girl when you visit (YAY your honeymoon is so close!!!) you should definitely check their cafe out -- the food is so good and their baked goods are excellent!! Here's the link to their website: "Turtle Bay Cafe and Bakery", Akumal, Riviera Maya, Mexico, full service restaurant *** As for TBC using the pic Trish gave.....I will definitely ask her about it because even if it is only being posted for inspiration's sake, they should not infer that they made that particular cake. In all fairness though, there are other cakes on her site that are very similar to that style that were in fact made by their bakers (I know this because of the evident Akumal background in the photos and because I was privvy to looking at a collection of photos from past weddings she catered) They are also a highly reputable company that many brides on BDW have used, and received high praise from past customers on BDW, the locogringo forum, and in just doing general google/yahoo research searches.
