Girls I'm so sorry to all those who have guests who are backtracking I haven't had any yet, but I think that's cuz the wedding is still about 50 days away. Do your guests know yet that the flu is really starting to die down especially in MX? There are tons of new articles, and I anticipate many, many more that will come out this week that stress that this flu isn't as bad as they thought it would be. Maybe a mass email blitz to your guests of all these new articles will help?

If you don't wanna hire a lawyer right away (I don't blame you after you've already lost $3,000) then you should send them a certified letter outlining your situation -- the problems that arose, why you are firing them, and of course requesting the monies due back to you. If there are specifics in the contract that support your case, include a copy and highlight those areas. Then add a closing graph to the effect of: Given the above circumstances, I kindly request that you return the $______ forwarded to you for my venue (*if your contract allows you to get your retainer add that to it too). If the check is not received by ______ (give them 7 to 10 days), then I will be forced to take legal action against you. Always good to document your problems and communication, this helps should you choose to go to court. Of course also save all your emails, and from now on try to avoid phone conversations and instead get it all in writing so it's documented. Sending a letter like this will buy you some time with hopes they will return the money and you can avoid attorney fees. Let us know what happens ~ good luck

As a bride who has been in a state of stress and anxiety since this stupid swine flu frenzy broke, I feel awful that this has affected so many brides/grooms but also how it has impacted the livelihood of so many wonderful vendors (like yourself), businesses and people in the area. I hope you guys can hang in there because Lisa is right, there are so many brides on here who are still hoping the path remains open for them to continue with their plans. Although we all know how fluid this entire situation continues to be, things seem to be looking up. Hopefully in a couple weeks things will somewhat be back to normal ~ a tropical paradise for all to enjoy

Signature Cocktails/Drinks
MarieSam replied to flowergrl's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
As promised here are some drink ideas we will be having at our wedding. Other than the usual open bar items (Jack and Coke is FI's fav, the Long Island Ice Teas, Beer, Cosmos, etc.) and non-aclhy beverages like lemonade, ice tea, and water, our WC suggested the following speciality drinks (still thinking of cute names to go with em) 1) I'm not a huge fan of champagne, so to give it a twist we are having what they call a "Peach Champagne Sangria" -- supposed to be champagne but with a tropical twist and she says it's delish!! 2) Tropical Fruit Punch - with some alchy, don't know exactly what but she said it's yummy 3) Margaritas - mango, lime and strawberry all on the rocks! 4) Mojitos - With Amy's idea they will now be "Mint-to-Be" Mojitos 5) Their speciality is called an "Akumal Cooler" - has rum, vodka, triple sec, mango and pineapple juice 6) Something they call a "Horni Tini" (definitely gonna change the name, lol) - hornitos tequila, cranberry juice, lime juice and triple sec As for names, I got the following outta a wedding book ~ MOST admittedly are beyond corny But these might give you some ideas on how to play around with words: - Altar-ed State - Blushing Bride - Be My Cider - Cloud-Nine Cocktail - Diamond-Ring Sling - Electric-Slide Special - Eternitini - First-Kiss Fizz - Groom's Gimlet - Honeymoon Helper - "I Do" Daiquiri - Maidarita - Rosy Future - Tie-the-Knot Shot - Tuxedo-politan - True Blue - Veila Ale - Wedding Bell-ini Something I saw really cute that another bride did on here recently was have four drinks under the titles Something Old (and old favorite like a margarita), Something New (some creative mix), Something Borrowed (another bride's drink idea), Something Blue (a blue drink of course) ~ I LOVE that!!! -

craziness....is it just me or do all popular diet pills always end up months/years later with some "stop don't use it, it causes this...." warning?

Do I have to wear make-up?
MarieSam replied to stefnicole's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I think brides tend to take extra special care with their hair and makeup because they want to have a little extra ooomff since it's such a special day. After all, wedding pictures are timeless and certainly moments in time you will want to look back throughout the course of your life, so you want to look your best! Since you don't usually wear any, how about just doing something very light and natural to simply accentuate your features? Maybe some blush, mascara, fake lashes make a HUGE difference, and a natural toned lipstick or gloss? Even the most subtle accents can bring out a new dimension to ones appearance. FI also doesn't like that I wear makeup even though I don't wear much. But for me it gives me a little more confidence and I like how it brings out my features. At the same time, I'm also not the type who can't leave the house without a full face, sometimes it feels great to just be able to walk out the door and feel the sunshine on a face that took no effort Because of my line of work, I always have a bag full of makeup with me but keep in mind that makeup doesn't have to be expensive to be effective! I have a case full of cheapy stuff and more expensive products ~ I love my 0.99 lipliner just as much as I adore my $48 moisturizer or $35 primer. You can find goldmine products at any price, trust me!!! At the end of the day, do what makes you most comfortable. And don't feel pressured to wear makeup because beauty au natural is perfectly acceptable too! If you can rock it sans products, then go for it girl You will be a beautiful bride no matter what -
I'm so happy that your moving forward with your plans, and it's wonderful to hear that your guests are being so supportive! Cannot wait to see pics of all the fabulous festivities

I love this idea....think I'm going to contact them as well. I've heard nothing but great things about them! Thanks! April if you're looking for an option besides cake, this is definitely a good one! When I last talked to her (Jenn) we decided to get a cookie spread (choco chip, oatmeal, white choco, and the mexican wedding cookies) and then the dipped strawberries. We are so excited about everything and really Jenn is wonderful to work with! I have sent a couple brides her way for both food and WC services, and they've all been happy with her. She will take great care of you if you like any other desserts, let her know, they pretty mcuh make everything!

Hola my beautiful and fabulous "Swine Flu" Mexico brides!!! Yep, I'm determined to turn this damn circus of a media freakshow into something positive So we will now be regarded as fabulous Swine Flu brides Anywho....just wanted to share an email I received yesterday from some good family friends who live in Playa del Carmen. They along with their two young daughters will be attending our wedding and we know they would be completely honest with us if our health and safety was in question by going to Mexico. Reading his email made me feel much more positive, but also very sad that the people in Quintana Roo are being victimized by all the media hype. They own a transportation/tour company and I know they are losing a lot of money down there because of this along with so many others who rely on tourism for their income. * He sometimes has a funny way of translating from Spanish to English just an FYI AN UPDATE FROM THE RIVIERA MAYA: Hola Mariesam We thank you for your prayers guys, we are fine thank you god, in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Riviera Maya we have no problems with the Swin Flue, the situation is that our President send an order to the country to avoid meetings or group of people any where, the economy is stoping cause the water parks like Xelxa, Xcaret, Tulum, Chichen Itza, Tulum etc., are closisng doors, Canadian, Europeans and Spaniards stop coming to Canc?n Airport for the warnings they have in their countries, like a said in this area there are no Swin Flue problems, you know that the media makes a little situation in a big situation, i don`t want to say that i minimize the problem but we are (like you say in the message you send us) thousands of miles away from Mexico City, so is some thing that our goverment is handleding, i checked with some travel agencyes clients about the situation and they toll me that every thing is going to be normal in 1 month ( i hope). We call a friend in Veracruz (he is a Hospital Doctor) in he toll us that the situation is real in Veracruz, Mexico City, San luis Potosi, Estado de Mexico, Oaxaca (here is where the swin flue start), Chiapas. I will inform you about how the situation is moving in this area, if you decide to move your wedding area let us know please. We send you a lot of love and ones again thank you for you prayers Silvia & Ismael Ismael Sauceda General Manager Sauce Vacations S.C de R.L www.saucevacations.com

Need Photographer in Italy Recommendations
MarieSam replied to Tulips's topic in Destination Wedding Vendors
Tulips, have you thought of bringing a photographer with you? This is what we're doing and it was more cost efficient that hiring one at our location. Since your getting married in Italy, the Euro kills the dollar unfortunately, so it would probably save you tons. If you're interested, I have a great photographer who I can suggest! Just PM me -

I think that's the best thing I've heard all week ~ it's like beautiful music to my ears! Finally a day that starts off on a good note!!!! Thank you Paul and the entire Playa Weddings crew. I am crossing my fingers and toes that things get better soon not only for myself but also for all the many brides on BDW so that we can all continue on with our original plans without any worries. And I truly hope that that Mexico as well as the rest of the world will soon go back to normalcy, and this horrible episode of panic and uncertainty will soon become a distant memory.
