And we're going to have luminarias and tikis all out on the beach! hahah, sorry Jac -- yeah I think the couch is the thing the girl's sittin on. Jen just has so many great ideas, and it's all reasonably priced. I must STOP with all this planning. I am digging myself into a hole with these expenses adding up here and there
  3. Oh Michelle everything looks wonderful ~ your dress is to die for!!! Can't believe your time has come girl, relax, breathe and enjoy Ooooh and make sure you come back with plenty of pics for all us BDWers*
  4. It's gorgeous and luxurious ~ simple yet so sexy and elegant. That fabric looks to die for Great find!!!
  5. Ok well because I've seen some of the other things you're using for the wedding (gold accented decor, your fab dress, colors, etc.) -- while I love both, I would have to say #1 too. The realism does exude a more classy elegance whereas #2 is super cute, fun and more laid back. I say go #1 ~ it's classy, beautiful, and I LOVE that it's a faded imprint so your text will stand out more.
  6. i need a little devil on my shoulder to yell at me before i stick crap in my mouth
  7. I know this topic has come up before regarding "What is a Mayan/Cosmic Ceremony?" My WC provided me with this email a while back -- I know she uses Shamans Charlie and Maria so the format may be slightly different depending on who oversees the ceremony but I believe it's generally the same! Hope this helps a little A Mayan Wedding can range from a simple ritual ceremony to a very elaborate wedding service. It is a serious spiritual ceremony. We use only authentic Shamans to perform authentic Mayan wedding ceremonies and prior to the ceremony the Shaman must determine if the bride and groom can participate in this sacred ceremony. This is our personal favorite and highly recommend it. It will truly make your wedding a memorable expierence for your family and friends. The Mayan wedding is considered a link to the cosmos. The authentic Mayan ceremony, following the actual traditions used by the Maya from the Yucatan Peninsula, is led by an authentic Mayan Shaman and will be held in Spanish. A translator is provided when meeting the Shaman to understand the spirituality of the wedding and its Mayan symbolism. Mayan Wedding Ritual ... a ritual of commitment to unite each other as long as the commitment remains. The Mayan Wedding Ritual is based in the Maya's connection with the universe and their gods, which is described in their sacred book the Popol Vuh, the ceremony brings the couple to the four cardinal points (north, south, east and west) to unite them to the feminine Mother Earth and the masculine Cosmic Energy, symbolized by a central sacred candle. An altar is created to represent these four cardinal points. Flowers mark these four points and – to represent the gifts of prosperity and fertility. North is purification is represented by whiteflowers, East is love with red, South is spiritual guides and uses yellow flowers, and West is protection with purple flowers (true color would be black but since black flowers don't grow in nature we use purple). A Candle is located on the altar on the four cardinal points -- north, south, east and west – to symbolize the presence of the four Mayan cosmos gods. The center candle unites the feminine and masculine – Mother Earth and Cosmic Energy, - which is lit by the Shaman or by the one he designates. Prior to the ceremony, the area is cleansed at the four cardinal points by the Shaman with the sacred smoke from the Copal tree and the blowing of the ritual conch shell horn. Family and friends circle around the altar and they celebrate the union of the bride and groom. Mayan music with pre-Hispanic instruments and the sacred conch shell is performed before and during the ceremony. Traditional Mexican music, such as Mariachis, can continue the celebration after the wedding.
  8. I know this may be too simple -- but at the end of the day remember there is a reason why their marriage fell apart. She was not right for him, you on the other hand are. And while she may be a dolled up fashionista, all the money and fashion in the world doesn't hide or mask an effed up personality.
  9. Looks like you had a glorious time, and love your dress! Can't wait to see more

I have said this same thing to people on here, and it didn't really strike me how hurtful and depressing it can be till I had it happen to myself. Getting the "I can't make it" truly sucks ass and quickly puts me into a bout of sadness, but FI has been the one to remind me to keep focused on "us". *sigh* it is tough though I give you that!

Lisa you always have me crackin up in the threads, so I'm sure you will have no problem keeping FI's spirits up and full of laughter Oh and I'm a sucker for dimples and twinkly eyes -- it's such an endearing quality in men! I know it sounds so simple but really, just have fun when you take your pics. Oooh and something else I read that helped -- smile from the eyes, if that makes sense. The eyes can be so expressive and really differentiate between a snapshot smile and a smile with true joy behind it. Aye I sound like a dork getting all analytical on you, lol * and thank you
  12. Oooh ok just saw the pics, nothing like what I had. But yes def. looks like heat rash -- girl you should be good to go. You'll be just perfect come the wedding
  13. I'm sure it will go away Benadryl always works wonders for me, not to mention gives me a good nap. Oh and the mention of Aloe Vera is a good one too!
  14. Thanks again ladies y'all are too sweet FI and I are so pleased about how they turned out. It's funny how our families have said they really capture a feeling of love and romance -- Tommy was acting such a DORK and clown during this session. On the pics where we're sitting on the ground his first remark was something to the effect of "I hope a gopher doesn't climb up my ass while we're down here." I don't know how we got through that shoot with any shots being serious, we were laughing the whole time. Oh and thank you for the compliments on the attire -- I took forever trying to decide what to wear. The patterned top was from Nordstroms for more than I wanted to spend, $100+ and the dress well the best deal of all -- $19.99 on sale at TARGET!!!! I heart Target I was worried at first that people would be like, isn't that a Target special, lol? Then I said screw it -- Target is the best and I loved the pattern ** So tip to those taking engagement pics -- wear what you love pricey or dirt cheap, just be comfortable. Oh and definitely accessorize!!!
  15. Jaime -- I had this about 10 years ago one summer. It freaked me out, and I actually never medically pinpointed the problem before it finally just went away. But I do recall that was the summer my daughter's father was ridiculously cheating on me and I was beyond stressed out. Last week I noticed I had two welts on my stomach -- this during the time when I was stressing bout the swine flu, FI's grandfather had a stroke, our Delta flights got changed, my MOH was saying her parents were urging her not to go to Mexico because of the swine flu. After those stressful couple days, the welts were gone. Could you just be stressin? I know the wedding is around the corner, and I expect I will probably be a basketcase when my time is that close too. Is it possible this might be a reaction to stress?
  16. honestly 5 months is still a lot of time, there are many brides on here who have said they've received bookings a week before the wedding! people are funny like that with DWs even though you would think traveling to a destination would make people plan ahead at the same time i think there are always disappointments for everyone when it comes to certain people not making the trip, yanno it really comes with the DW territory. i say be patient, and yes at the end of the day be grateful for those who make the commitment to attend -- your day will be wonderful no matter what!
  17. Amy, simply incredible! And how awesome that you got such an amazing photographer through a BDW contest. You must be thrilled about how beautiful your photographs turned out
  18. yeah that would be a good idea, just make sure whoever does it, gets "the shot" -- I'm sure Tyler will be floored when he sees his gift. So you gotta make sure you get to see it too!!! And trust me hun, I feel you on budget issues. It is so easy to get carried away planning a wedding ~ I need a freakin patch!
