I am actually not as concerned about the banquet room as I am about those HIDEOUS chairs on the gazebo. Oh man are those ugly! I think the banquet room has potential if you are looking for a quiet, intimate dinner. With a little more decor and flowers and maybe a table linen to match the colors of the wedding it would work. But those chairs! UGH! I was really hoping to keep it simple and not decorate the gazebo or do chair covers but...

I just got an email from Jacy stating they do allow boxes to be sent to the resort in advance. They recommend it being 1 month prior. I am definitely doing this with our favors. Here is the info she sent: Wedding gifts.pdf

I think it is really hard to be a DPA bride. I mean, I was thinking about going through some other resort's threads, like Dreams Tulum, but anyone from that resort having concerns would be able to look to a bride who had been previously married there. We are the first people to visit the renovated resort under new mgmt, let alone the first to get married there! I figure, no matter where I chose to get married I am going to be concerned if my guests are going have a good time. One of the reasons people want to go is because it is an excuse to have a vacation and I want to make sure they have a good time. The new reviews that are good did make me feel better though.

I am not getting married at this dreams, but having you ladies remind me the basics of customer comments is helpful. Basic rule of customer service-- for every 1 bad experience that customer is going to complain to ten people. But when people are satisfied, nothing is said. (A rule I learned as a marketing major and in a recent customer service conference)

In the beginning there are many places I went into myself and said I was only looking. That way the sales person didnt want to waste their time with me. That way I found exactly what I was looking for and then went into places with family and friends to seriously look. I ended up buying my dress online, too. What is your body type? Are you petite? Hippy? Full? The big thing I found was the style of waist was the big factor for me because I am hippy.

I was wondering the same thing when I was picking out my colors, but like sunsetbride posted, there are some beautiful weddings on the beach! Those dresses are great!

Are you serious, or did you just do a plot twist from "Bride Wars?" (Kidding) In these types of situations, I usually just go with 'guys are clueless.' I am sure if he even mentioned it to his wife she would say no. This IS your day. Good luck!

Aug0208- I just read your other post about the Desires lounge! I was told the same thing by Jacy today! I was really bummed because I wanted to use that for the reception too! Halarious!

aug0208- Nov 6, 2009? Oh man! That is great! We are going to be down there at the same time. Maybe if we have the same vision- they can just leave your reception set up for the next day and we can split the costs!!! Kidding, but that is so fun that yours is the day before mine! Too bad it seems like it is forever away still. I keep bugging my FI that we need to take a site visit sometime soon.

Cantwait...when do you get there? my date is the week before you! We leave on Nov 11! I am going to check out the reviews because I havent seen them yet. But from what you said, Reluctant, anyone who is going to go to a resort a month after it opens and complain about construction is LOOKING for something to complain about!

I would have to agree, increasing the price for your guests in any way would probably cause some kind of commotion. Whether or not you think you can handle it this close to your wedding is another question. And how laid back your family and friends are really makes a difference. I had a friend just get back from ASP for her honeymoon and she loved it! Tough decision though, but only you will know how much trouble it will cause in your family. If not a lot, then do it! You only get to do this once!

I think all the times are just for your decision. I read online sunset for june in cancun is around 730 for all of June. Does that sound right? I was thinking the lounge area for the dinner/reception. I dont know if its possible yet- surprisingly I havent heard back from Jacy. on another note...I bought my dress yesterday and am soo excited! It is chic, so it sounds like it will go with the decor of the resort perfectly!

I am not sure how to approach the wedding party. FI and myself definately want a wedding party- I have 3 girls in mind, am willing to have it be just one. But he is impossible. He says the lowest he can go is 4. I can cut it down to just one for him, though. So if we went with 7 would that be too many people? We invited around 100 people and were originally expecting 40. With only 6 people booked, I am afraid to expect anymore than 25. Is 7 people in the wedding party too much for a wedding with a small guest list?
