I found Negril Escape- it's on the cliffs. They have wedding packages & catered receptions, with no minimum stay requirements, and the manager is really good about responding to e-mails. The Negril Escape Resort & Spa

If anybody has any suggestions for a Negril-area TTD location, please post 'em too! :-)

As far as hotels near Navy Pier go... the W Chicago Lake Shore is very close. Not sure how the rates compare to what your MIL found, but worth checking out...

I like the idea of the silver gel pen- I think it would show up really well. Have you tested it out on the paper color?

I'm glad somebody you brought this up. My parents are Jamaican too and they want a rum cake but I know we've got to have a yellow cake for FI's side too. Somebody mentioned doing a split-layer cake (traditional rum cake/yellow cake): have you had this before & how did it work out?
