I find they don't seem to be very forthcoming with info. Perhaps it's b/c the resort is so new and they are on a huge learning curve. It's funny, the differences b/w the Carribean package and tropical package are definately not worth $400 to us: fruit basket, steamed wedding clothes, and continental breakfast. When you factor in the difference from $50 pp to $100 pp, I'll take those extra perks. I think I got most of my answers because I went down there and spoke to Charmaine in-person for an hour.... It seems like it does take a lot longer to get an answer via email. I also asked about doing that same thing (getting the Tropical Package and upgrading to the private reception at Blue Lagoon), and Charmaine told me that by doing that, you'd have to create a set menu. Blue Lagoon is only open for breakfast and lunch, so that's the only way you can have it for dinner. And the set menus for a private dinner outside of the Caribbean package would be much more expensive than $50/person.

The Caribbean Package covers the meal for 8 people. Anyone in excess of that is at $50 a head. Now we don't have a signed contract to support that but that's how it's going to go... Exactly! The other way just doesn't make sense. We need to find out what the deal is from the new coordinator.
  14. My in-laws to-be are just so happy to be going on vacation to Jamaica! They haven't meddled at all. I did invite my FMIL when I went to get my dress & she cried when she saw me in it. She only has sons & FI is the first to get married so it was special for her.
  15. I just came across these pics from a wedding at Round Hill-- so beautiful! Kvetch: Weddings We Loved => Palm Trees and Rum Punch--the Valery's make it official in Jamaica
  16. Congratulations!! Everything looks great! You will have a beautiful day.
  17. Hi! Here's a thread that has lots of suggestions: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t27873
  18. Welcome NBro! That's totally different from what I understood from my conversation with Charmaine in September.... You're scaring me!! Here's how I get it: The package prices cover everything at that particular level, for 8 people. The additional people incur the per-person charge. The bigger packages incur the higher per-person charges up to the Caribbean package's $50/person including dinner. The only way you'd have to pay an additional per-person charge is if you pick a package that doesn't include dinner and you decide to host a private dinner as an add-on. Charmaine said that those packages are more expensive than the $50/person charge. Hopefully Caroline or one of the other GPJ brides can help to clarify, because I was definitely not budgeting $120/person for my reception.....
