  1. SnowAngels-- thanks so much for this info. I'm just going to finalize everything with Jascynthia when I get there on Thursday since it's been so hard to get an answer by phone or e-mail. Did you select the Caribbean Package, and just choose menu items from the Posiedon?
  2. Congratulations on your beautiful wedding... and the baby on the way! So exciting! I wish you the best.
  3. I'm so happy that I'm not the only one feeling like that! lol Congratulations Jamie! We're in the home stretch!!!
  4. SnowAngel-- Thank you so much for your pics and review!!! And Congratulations-- everything was beautiful!! This does help quite a bit.... I'm leaving for Jamaica in 4 days and starting to really feel lost since I'm not hearing back from the resort!
  5. Maida- my date twin-- everything looks great!! Congratulations and wishing you a beautiful wedding day!
  6. There are a lot of threads in this forum that talk about the sand ceremony. Here are a few of them I found using the search box at the top (to the right): http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t29693 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t36918 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t40707 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t42647 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t41399 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t37626 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t40886 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t39178 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t37437 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t25060 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t28398
  7. Traci-- your pictures are beautiful!!! Thank you so much for sharing! The show actually looks like a lot of fun. We're still trying to finalize our entertainment so that's back on the table. Good to know about bringing the extra copies... Thanks again!
  8. I bought Russian netting @ a local fabric store & a hair flower at Kohls, and my mom's friend helped me put it all together. I say go for it! I haven't had a chance to try it on with my dress yet, so I'm not 100% sure if I'll wear it during the wedding or just the day-after shots...

I'm starting to get very nervous about it all because of the lack of communication. thanks for all you helpful info! Yep, I sent them directly to the hotel address, to her attention: Resort Contacts Good luck with hearing back from her. I get married there in 9 days and I'm having a hard time getting in touch with her. I spoke to her assistant yesterday (this is good news), who promised to get back to me with some answers, but nothing yet. We're about a week out and I still don't know which alternate meal we're serving our guests (in lieu of lobster).....
  10. I'm with ya. Every time I go to Target for anything, I end up looking at their CUUUTE (and cheap) bikinis! I think my total bikini count has doubled since they came out.... (terrible) I bought this adorable "One Love" one with a cute black skirt bottom-- perfect for our Jamaica wedding/vacation!
  11. Our wedding's a little over a week away, so I figured I'd share our engagement story: I had traveled to Jamaica earlier that week to cover the Air JA Jazz and Blues Festival for a radio station I worked for at the time, and couldn't wait for FI to arrive that Sunday! I checked out of the hotel, left my co-workers behind, and met him at the airport in Montego Bay, and we were soon off to Ocho Rios. After a long afternoon catching up, soaking in the sun and swimming in the pool, we went back up to our room to shower and change so we could go out for dinner. Exhausted, I fell asleep while he got ready. I woke up to FI calling me out to the balcony to take in the nighttime scenery and listen to the tree frogs sing. As I sat on his lap on the balcony and we just took in the scenery (the hotel is up on a hill, and you can see the ocean in the distance below). He soon stood up and started to tell me how much he loved me, then brought out a little white box and asked me to marry him... the tears welled up in my eyes and I choked out a "Yes I will!!" He's not a very emotional person so I was surprised that his eyes welled up too and we stood outside and hugged for a long time before we rushed back into the room so I could actually see the ring!! He told me that he took my dad out for dinner & beer earlier that weekend, to properly "ask" for my hand in marriage. I grinned from ear-to-ear the rest of the night as we went out for a great seafood dinner and spent two more days in paradise before heading back to frozen Chicago on my 29th birthday. :-) Us out to dinner right after the engagement:
  12. Congrats on your graduation Yamille! I feel like we're in the same boat with the checklist... I took off the beginning of next week and now I'm SO glad I did-- I'm gonna need it! Good luck to all the rest of the May brides!

I just gave her the total numbers for each entree (i.e. 16 steak and 31 lobster- which they're no longer serving). I'm not sure how you indicate that to the servers the night of the wedding but maybe the previous GPJ brides can answer?
  14. Welcome to the 2-dress-bride club! I think you made a good decision though- the second dress is beautiful!

Maybe some of you can help me with some questions. We are a small group, 14, maybe 16. We chose the Caribbean package because of the dinner at the blue lagoon, that seemed like the best option for us to have a reception, any comments other ideas?? Does anyone know when you have to choose the menu by? I haven't even been sent options yet. Has anyone used the hotel photographer? and do you have any sample you can share, or their website? Otherwise I'm not sure what to do about that. What needs to be sent to Jascynthia for the marriage certificate? I know certified copies of both birth certificates, but can we send copies of our licenses/passports? and is that all that needs to be sent? Do I fed ex this stuff directly to Jascynthia and the Resort? Thanks for any help you can give! Dana You just have to submit the menu choices 2 weeks before the wedding. Be careful to ask them whether your choice is truly available-- I selected the grilled lobster tail entree and they are trying to switch it to shrimp 2 weeks before the wedding. (Frustrating, since I sent out meal choices on our RSVPs, and I had menus printed!) And we sent Jascynthia our birth certificates & drivers licenses 30 days beforehand.
