As for my RSVP date...it was 9/19 & I've only received 9 back. Did I mention that I sent out 45 invites? Needless to say I'm extremely annoyed about this!! Why can't folks just do what is asked of them?
  2. I've requested to start my bachelorette weekend off with a strip tease class. There are not a lot of options in Houston, but my MOH is the BEST...so I'm sure she will figure something out (fingers crossed). I saw it on tv and thought it's the best of both worlds...get a workout & learn additional ways to seduce my man
  3. This is so very sad! They could at least have the common courtesy to contact these brides and let them know what's going on. I live in Houston, but am glad that I opted for a DW. Now I'm just praying that nothing like this happens to my resort as well as that no hurricanes hit the resort for the rest of this season.
  4. GREAT!!! I'm getting married beachside and will also be having the cocktail hour and reception on the beach. I'm nervous about the size of this area. I do not want my guests to be confined to a small area the entire time. Could you please take pictures of this area for me? I have tried to get pictures from Alejandra, but she only sent me one picture of a ceremony on the beach.
  5. Yes, I totally understand what you went through ErinB. I live in Houston and our power went out at 8pm BEFORE IKE HAD OFFICIALLY MADE LAND! Our power was just restored yesterday and over 1 million folks still do not have power. As for our house, everything was okay with that just the shrubbery in front of the house has been up-rooted. Our satellite is out but our internet is working. Houston is only about 25% functional. There are limited gas stations open, a shortage on fuel, ice, food, and bread, and a lot of restaurants are still closed due to no power or not receiving any new stock. Most of the major highways have been cleared of debris so things are SLOWLY getting back to normal. My heart and prayers go out to those who are still dealing with this storm as well as those who lost their homes to it. You cannot truly understand the devastation one feels when they cannot live or return to their homes. It's MUCH more than just a building!

I haven't even thought this would be an issue. The only outside vendors I'm bringing with me is my wedding planner and photographers. I figured that they would eat whenever there was a break in their/our schedule and not necessarily eat at the reception (since the resort is all-inclusive) and they all should be busy during this time. I agree with you that you might be getting a hard time since you are using outside vendors.
  7. I'm not going to wear my dress again because I would have worn it for the wedding and then the TTD session. I'm not sure how motivated I will be to get my dress cleaned for the AHR. Also, I will be having 2 AHRs and the 2nd AHR will be in NY during the winter.
  8. That is a great idea! I'm doing something similar...Our song is Rest of My Life by Brian McKnight and I'm going to input a couple of my own verses into the song, record it, and give it to him for him to listen to while he's looking through the BD that I had made for him. That way he has time to listen to the lyrics and get himself together prior to the ceremony....lol. I would say go for the original song, but make sure you give him a recording for him to listen to after the ceremony just in case he misses anything during your walk down the aisle (which I'm sure he will)!

I think she's doing a bit better this week. It's got to be so sad though OMG! That's horrible! I'm glad it didn't get any more severe before you caught it. Allergic reactions can be so scary. I once woke uip with a swollen lip like I'd been punched. The doctor said the throat would have swollen up next. Scary! Glad to hear you're getting it looked at. That sounds so much fun. So are you feeling better? Are you still all itchy? Hope the BD session goes well. It's so exciting. Have a great vacation too. Worry about all the wedding stuff when you get back! Everything is going fine now....the medicine worked so I'm no longer itchy & feverish. My BD shoot went well. I can't wait to see the proofs!!! So now that I'm back from my little vaca, I'm really focused on finishing up the last minute details for the wedding....95 days left!!!
  10. This thread has been quiet, but I know for me it's been because life (outside of the wedding) has been keeping me extremely busy. Kevsgirl...I'll keep you in my prayers as well! I've currently been dealing w/ a mysterious infection (in addition to a severe sprained ankle) only to find out that I'm allergic to the antibiotic that I was given...so now I'm battling a severe chemical reaction to penicillin; which I had no clue I was allergic to. So I have been in & out of the doctor's office trying to pinpoint the problem. Initially, the ER doc said that it was just a food allergy, but the rash, itching, & was much more aggressive than anything I have ever experienced before. Keep in mind that the only thing I'm allergic to is pineapple, and I've been relatively healthy up until these recent months. With all of this other stuff going on, I have given my DIY invites to my wedding planner for her to finish up and mail by tomorrow. She's had them for over a week so I'm not sure why they haven't been sent out already. I had printed everything out, scored ticket sleeves, and printed the labels so basically all she had to do was assemble them and place in the mail. I'm anxious to see what the RSVP count is going to be. I still have to design our custom mugs, print menus, programs, favor tags, order favors, get fiance's suit tailored, among another million things. And I will be leaving town tomorrow after doing my BD session to spend Labor Day weekend with his family on the East coast....101 days to go & I'm really starting to feel the pressure.

Where did you decide to have your ceremony, cocktail hr, and reception at on the resort? I want to have everything right there on the beach, but am a little concern about the space and the turn around between each event. I'm really excited about getting married at Secrets, but it seems that the closer the wedding date comes the more details that seem to slip through Alejandra's fingers. Maybe it's just the bridezilla coming out.

  13. I love that the amount of Secrets brides on this forum is increasing!! I have some of the flower options Alejandra has sent me for my wedding on Dec. 6th. I will send a PM to you ladies who said that you all have pictures. I'm having everything on the beach and I want to make sure that is really where I want the ceremony, cocktail hr, and reception at!

Now I'm a total convert and lift 5-6 days/wk and only do cardio about 2-3 days/wk. Just do as many weight-lifting exercises as possible that don't require you to stand. Good luck! Good idea! I'm not a weights type of person but I guess now I can't be too picky now. Quote: Originally Posted by Davematthews16 You could do crunches!!! I guess it's because I'm so impatient and stubborn.
  15. Okay, I booked my boudoir session for the end of this month and decided to hit the gym harder so that I will feel less conscious about my body during the session. Well during my aerobic step class, my ankle gave out and I ended up rolling over on it. Yes...a total klutz and total embarassement! So now I cannot work out for at least 2 1/2 weeks and am being ordered to rest and ice my ankle in the meantime, which translates into me eating more junk food, laying on the couch, and putting on the pounds. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how I can lose weight and tone up while trying to obey the dr's orders?
  16. We are doing travel mugs for our guests & were thinking about going w/ discountmugs.com, but we wanted the blue mugs (since our colors are turquoise & brown). I will need to discuss w/ my fiance to see if he wants to go this route. Great find...thanks for the info!
  17. Those look really great. I'm also using paper from paperandmore.com (the metallic pearl cardstock), but when I print on my Canon photo printer the color seems to be dull even when I print on the high quality setting. I have not had this problem before with my printer. I was wondering how were you able to keep your colors so vibrant?
  18. Thanks for the info. I needed some additional exercises as I prepare for my impromptu boudoir session.
  19. So I'm EXTREMELY late in finding this thread...not sure how I missed it but I am also getting married in December....Dec. 6th at Secrets Capri. That seems to be a very popular date I have a massive to do list but have been making progress until this weekend. I was supposed to put together and send out our invitations (boarding passes-we sent out luggage tags for our STDs), but after printing out the actual passes...I absolutely hated the paper we used. So now I have to try and find new paper, print them out, & assemble by next Sunday so that I won't fall too behind on my schedule. I'm so glad I have this thread...I needed to vent a little!!!
  20. Welcome to the forum Melissa. I am also a Secrets Capri bride! I will be getting married there in December 2008 so I would love to see your review & pictures of your Big Day. Look forward to chatting with you!
