Hi! Welcome!! I'm getting married at the Moon Palace and have stayed at the Cancun Palace before. We also have family who have stayed at Palace Resort and have nothing bad to say about them! With the Palace Resorts, you can stay at one, and then go to the others if you want (Cancun Palace beach is amazing) and if you stay 3 or more nights, they include excursions...a great bonus, if you ask me. Good Luck!

AI's are great (in my opinion). I haven't read everyone else's replies yet, so I'll probably say what others have said but.... People will have to pay for their other meals. And just because you are at an AI doesn't mean that it inclues your reception, if you choose to have one. We are paying extra for ours. My mom actually thought that was a waste and that we shouldn't do one...but like I said in a previous post, we are asking people to spend a thousand dollars + to see us get married...the least we can do is give them a party too. Some AI's include excursions. I know that the Palace Resorts in Mexico do. That means if guests say 3 or more nights, they can go places like Tulum at no extra cost! It's worth looking into. (We're getting married at a Palace Resort and have stayed at one before). Good Luck!

OOT bag waste?
Dez921714 replied to Pisces's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I too didn't want to give things that people won't use...that being said, there are a lot of things on my list (I need to stop reading these threads), but our logic is that we're asking our guests to spend thousands of dollars to come...and the welcome bags are also their favors. I have links to everything I'm listing here, so if you want them, let me know (I got most of them from this site). - Tote bags with our monogram ironed on (with "Cancun, Mexico 2009" instead of our names) - Travel Mugs with same monogram as above (we figure the bags and mugs can be re-used again as silvioneers, that's why we aren't putting our names on them) - 2 travel candels per bag (we were gonna do this because all the rooms have double jaccuzzies...but the musty issue is a good reason too) - Personalized Matches (with our monogram with our names on them) - Saraong for the ladies - Bucket hat for the men - Beach proof container for $ w/compass and whistle (my aunts will love the wistle for safety) (with our monogram with our names on them) Toiletries - - First aid kit - Aloe loation (12 oz...undre $1 each) - Alka Setlza - Advil - Pepto - Immodium - Tissues - Travel Q-tips (random, but I ALWAYS forget to pack them) - Chapstick (preferably with SPF15 or higher) - Shout wipes - Off wipes Fun - Meracca pens - Flip Flop sticky pad - Shot glasses (rooms have liquor dispensors in them) - Blow up beach balls Maybes...we haven't decided yet - Tee shirts (depends on how many people come and the price) - Maybe blow up pool rafts if I can find them cheap - Maybe flip flop playing cards -
Mistaken Identity- has anyone heard about this?

Does the dress have optional spaghetti straps? That would take care of the "strapless" issue hehe In all honesty...I am a +++ size girl (with a small chest, horrible combination). One of the things I am MOST self conscious about, is the size of my arms. That being said, I have been in at least 5 wedding (Maid of Honor twice) and I have always had a strapless dress (even when I got to choose the dress). I finally came to the realization that my friends know what I look like and choose a specific dress for a reason, not to make me look bad or be self conscious. There was usually a matching shall that I could wear as a "cover up" or if I was cold. And when it comes down to it, most wedding party appropriate dresses are strapless. I went looking at wedding gowns two weeks ago and fell in love with one. My sister took pics of me in it. When I sent the link to my best friend she called me less than 5 minutes later and said "Strapless? really? Don't you have an arm issue?" Even my mom was like "we can get you a shall for it". And I told them both, that I have come to terms with my body. This is my size, you don't like it don't look! I probably will get a shall, but because I'm getting married in January, not as a cover up. Unfortunately this is a place your friend needs to get to on her own...all you can do is tell her that you love her, you know what she looks like and you think this dress would be great on her. It's only for one day, and you would never put her in something that looked bad on her. Afterall, you're the one that has to look at the pics Good luck!!!!

12.29.07 Wedding ~ Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort
Dez921714 replied to OneLove's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
OMG Thank you for posting this! I'm getting married at the MP is January 2009 and this is soooo helpful. I might PM you if I or FI have any questions, if that's ok. -
Wow! That list is great, I'm gonna copy and save it. Our out of town bags are probably going to be heave too. My parents, Maid of Honor and Best Man are coming down early with us, so we might give them each some stuff to take with them (maybe take over 1/2 to a whole suitecase if they can spear it).

That's great! We recently bought a new mattress and now have a "no doggies in the bed" rule, but before that, that would be me in the pic, spooning with one dog (80lbs) and having the other one curled up behind my knees (55lbs)

Welcome and congrats! I'd pick a date and tell everyone....when they ask if you're engaged, just say "not officially" It'll work out

We're getting married at the Moon Palace, for the same reasons you're getting married at the Adventura (except for the Adults only...actually, that's the one reason we choose Moon over Adventura This is a great place for ideas!!!

FIL's dont want us having DW...WTF
Dez921714 replied to Leslie-Xcaret09's topic in Just venting or funnies
Those are great questions! I'm interested in knowing the answeres too. I told FI last night that I refuse to get upset about things. If people can't afford to stay at our resort, then they can scope out their own deals, I won't stop them, but I won't do it for them (we will pay for the day pass for them on the day of the wedding). The funny thing is that my grandmother, the main reason we didn't want a DW was the first to say "that's such a great idea". Whomever comes, comes and if they can't come, we are ok with it We both agree that as long as he's there and I'm there...everyone else, is just a bonus -

I know this thread is about two week old, but I had to add to it. This will probably be long (and it's the abridged version).... FI an I have talked about a destination wedding since we went to Mexico in September of 2005 - everyone thought it was a great idea. December of 2005 we bought our house. December of 2006 we got engaged. I decided that there were some things I'd miss by having a desination wedding that I wanted (like my 94 year old grandmother). So we started planning a local wedding. Our invitation list was up to 260 (I have a HUGE family) and with no frills is was easily going to cost us 30k. We were having issues with the amount of $$ it was going to cost and we could think of many house projects we could use that money on. A 5 hour party for that much $$ wasn't worth it to us. October 2007, I lost my job. So now we are living and paying the mortgage on one salery with no extra money to save. Can we say STRESSED? FI and I talk, and on Thanksgiving, we announce that we are going to go back to our origional idea of a desitnation wedding (remember, everyone liked he idea the first time). Off the bat, my very straightforward and blunt parents said "we'll talk about it later" FI's parents were excited and listing everyone that would come. A week passes. I sit down, talk to my parents, tell them why we want to do it and now my mom supports me and is really excited. We bring FI parents passport papers to fill out and his mom tells us that they aren't coming - out of the blue. First they say $$, so we tell them we'll pay for them (really! we want his parents there!!!) then she says his dad is afraid to fly and leave the country (Vietnam Vet). A lot of stress, a lot of hurt feeling, a lot of me biting my tongue. FI accepts it and moves on. About a month ago, FI's mom tells us that she is going to come, his dad isn't but she's going to. Ok, great, awesome! Last night, Easter. Our STD's are all ready to go out, FI is excited and wants to bring one to our parents houses to show them. My parent's are excited, his mom reads the letter with NO reaction. Everyone goes inside to watch tv and I'm in the kitchen with his mom and she starts in again about how it's expensive and she doesn't think anyone from her side will come and it's three weeks after Christmas. I looked at her and as politely as I could I said "that's fine, people don't have to come if they can't afford it". FI and I are waiting for her to tell us that she isn't going to come, and then OMG the Can I send my inlaws on that boat until 2010 that someone before me suggested -
Welcome and good luck...you'll find many many ideas here

Has anyone used honeyfund.com?
Dez921714 replied to Samantha S's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
It looks like a great idea. We were gonna set up a honneymoon registry when we were planning a local wedding...but now that it's a destination, I feel a bit weird setting up a honneymoon registry. -

Hi there We're getting married at the Moon Palace in Cancun/Rivera Maya. We choose the resort because we've stayed at a sister resort (Cancun Palace) before and had an awesome time. First thing we did was meet with a local travel agent, which was a waste of time because I didn't like her at all. I contacted the resort directly for information and then contacted my parents travel agent in FL, and we are going to use her (we live in NYC). Good luck! There's a lot of great advice and tips on here. FI wants to kill me because I have a couple of DIY projects lined up already :-D
