  1. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dress came in and I went to go try it on last night. I have such a crush on it. When I was at the salon two other brides inquired if they could order it and they were informed the company doesn't make it anymore. I can't believe I was able to get the last one made. YEah!!! Okay since they measured me I have been training with a trainer and lost a few inches, so the dress is a little big in the stomach and chest. So since I am still training my first fitting won't be until March.
  2. Nikki- The Welcome Reception and Rehearsal Dinner can be combined. I went to a wedding recently that did this. The only thing is the following to consider: a. Rehearsal dinners - usually mean sit down meals and such, so if you have a large wedding and you combine the two you are paying for everyone that is attending the wedding to come to the rehearsal dinner. Can get expensive. b. Welcome Reception is usually hosted on the night majority of your guests arrive, so they can meet and spend the next few days getting to know each other before the wedding. Most welcome receptions are between 2-3 hours long. You can provide drinks and appetizers. Usually this is very inexpensive. c. If your family and your Fiance's family don't live near each other, having a rehearsal dinner at DW for just the wedding party is a nice way to have just your family and wedding party together. While allowing your other guests a free night to do as they please. So I think what ever works best for you is the way to go. My friend who did the rehearsal dinner/welcome reception combo paid just as much for the dinner as she did her wedding reception. Ouch... We are having a welcome reception the night everyone arrives and providing 2 hours of open bar and passed apps 60 plus guests. Then we are having a rehearsal brunch with our families and wedding party 33 people, to keep it intimate. Cheers PS I have been pricing rehearsal dinners for my 33 people and they are running anywhere between $800-$1400 w/o drinks.
  3. Leia- Hey there. I was looking at your timeline for the day of and was wondering if you had enough time for photos. My FI doesn't want to see me until I walk down the isle which means we will have to do group photos after the ceremony, but this will mean we miss 30 minutes of our cocktail hour. Not sure how to plan it. Did you feel your agenda went well and you stayed within your time frames? Great planning on your part, btw aamazing job. Kathy
  4. Hey ladies- I am hoping someone can help me. I am trying to create my wedding invites and I want to put a banner on the invite to look similar to the one below that I can put text in. I work off a windows PC, does anyone know where I can find something to do this with. Thanks in advance Kathy
  5. Mishka you are onto something. Ladies you can make your own album on kodakgallery.com for $39. What a great price for a guest book. I have three ideas. 1. you can do your engagement photos 2. you can do picutres of the location of your wedding (of course if you have been there before, or ask your wedding guests to send you pictures of their favorite vacation picture) 3. you can build a picture book of old photos of you and your guests and they can find their picture and sign by it like a year book. #3 is one of my favorites BUT We went to PV last year and thought we might do a picture book of our fav spots in PV I also saw someone who did a picture book of all the favorite places they had been and their guests signed that too. I think this is such a personal touch and one you will enjoy viewing later in life. Cheers Kathy
  6. I can't believe it. You are married. Congrats girl. Love the review and teaser pics.... Bring on the pro pics, can't wait. I hope you can be at happy hour tomorrow.... Congrats
  7. Jess Kristin is awesome. She is so on top of things. I have never met someone, honestly that I could say is so zipped up on her job. She manages me very well and I have a lot of respect for how she runs her business. We are in good hands. Have you been to PV before? I think you made the right decision over Cabo. Cheers Kathy
  8. Jamie- Thanks for the info. We actually decided to do the Tides in PDC for our honeymoon and then go to Belize after rainy season for 4 nights. I am so excited to meet you tomorrow. I will get to the happy hour around 5:30ish. See you tomorrow. Cheers Kathy
  9. Jess-congrats on your decision. I have been to the Dreams and you will love it there. Jill- my WC suggested the Dreams salon. She said overall she has had the most positive responses from her brides with that salon. Please let me know if you hear of anywhere else... Cheers Kathy

  15. I booked with them directly. But when I did call they said they would have package specials for 2009 ready by the end of Jan. Check with a TA or online you may find something cheaper. They currently have a special if you book 90 days in advance you get 30% off. Happy Honeymoon Planning
  16. Anthony's girl- I agree it is nice to have some RSVP's. It does help with the planning process. But after experiencing my BF's wedding in October, one thing I learned is that everyone will RSVP, unless they already have prior engagements. So it is a little difficult to really know how many people are coming until they book rooms/airline tickets, even then it is a gamble. My friend had 72 RSVP's 60 days before her wedding. 30 days before it went down to 64 booked. The day of her wedding (after paying for 60 guests) only 42 people were able to come. I myself sent STD's in July (wanted to give our guests a long time to plan) we received around 92 RSVP's. Then when it came to booking rooms as of today we have 54 guests and about 20 people who have discovered due to the economy and other things they can't come. We are sending invitation the end of Feb. So we are thinking about 60-70 guests. Keep us posted on the RSVP planning
  17. for all the picture whores like myself... beach palapa massage tables our villa pool at night private plunge pool Tides Riviera Maya I can't wait..................
  18. I just booked my honeymoon at The Tides Riviera Maya... I am so excited. They have private villas with palapa roofs, private plunge pool and outdoor shower. The resort only has 30 rooms which makes it a secluded hideaway. It is only 7 miles (20 min) from PDC. We are going to rent scooters to get back and forth. The spa at the Tides is suppose to be amazing. I am so freaking excited...... Anyone stayed there would love your feedback and recommendations.
  19. Casey They aren't but they do offer packages. YOu really should check it out. It is like a 2 hour flight from Houston. So easy yet remote. We are going to rent scooters (this is what my friend did) to get back and forth from Playa del Carmen. I am so excited. I know you were looking for an AI, you should check out Victoria HOuse in Belize or Royal in Playa Del Carmen. Both look amazing. If you really want to go crazy, check out Rosewood in Rivera Maya, Wowzer Am I going to see you today Yamille are you going to happy hour on the 23rd
  20. GReat review. I WANT PICTURES. YOur dress looks amazing
  21. Kristy I will probably get there early around 5ish. Cheers
  22. Heather- I am in your boat a friend of mine extended me her friends/family that is the only way we are doing The Tides. but check out Royal in playa del carmen this was our first choice before we got the hook-up. The Royal looks great and is right in town. Let me know what you decided. Tides does have a rate of $490 plus tax right now. That was still a little steep for us though. Happy planning K
  23. After a number of different ideas from Bora Bora to Italy to Belize we have finally found our honeymoon destination. We are going to stay in Mexico and travel to the Rivera Maya and stay at The Tides Resort private plunge pool, butler and outdoor shower...... I can't wait.... 7 nights of just me and my hubby..... yeah.... We are planning to dive for 3 days, go cave tubing and to the waterfalls and spend a couple nights in Playa del Carmen celebrating. Would love to know if anyone else gonna be in Playa del Carmen May 24-31st. Happy planning
