  1. Kathie- My friend had this at her wedding in PV and it was huge hit. Contact Kristin from Dazzling Details and I am sure she can put you in contact with the guy who did the wedding she ran. I love this idea.
  2. Another PV bride yeah!!!!!!!!!!! YOu should check out Casa Palapa, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico they do small weddings in the villa by the pool. Gary and Eva are the owners and they are awesome. YOu could actually save yourself a lot of money because they could put you in contact with some great vendors. If I was having an smaller weddign this is the way I would go. If you contact GAry please tell him I said hello and can't wait to see him in May. Best of luck, let any of us PV brides know if you need any help Kathy
  3. So I will start my reception is going to be at Villa Mediterriano south of The Dreams Resort. One reason I chose this is because we will have our own private venue. This means No closing time. We can dance into the wee hours of the morning with DJ going. I thought this was great because my friends love a good party and I wouldn't want to say hey the parties over now. Sorry.... Thanks for coming all this way. Though my fiance and I will leave early to enjoy our first night as husband and wife. Another reason we are able to use our own caterer (which saved us about $3000).
  4. Hey ladies- I thought it would be nice to start a thread for brides who are having either their ceremony/reception at a villa in Puerto Vallarta. By what I am gathering is that a villa wedding is a lot different from a resort wedding. So I thought it would be nice to start a chat for feedback, actual experience, advise, vendor connections (since with a villa you could really save a lot of money by doing your own thing), pictures and a little of every thing. Thoughts
  5. Check out PromoVisionPV.com my wedding coordinator recommended them. By the sneek peeks on their site they look like they do a great job. The pricing is really good also. Let me know if anyone used someone they loved.
  6. My photograhper J.Colgiandro is doing my wedding in PV. He has also done a few others there. Check out his site. I feel his work is amazing. The best perk is he does 4 days of total coverage, not broken down by the hour. Let me know if you would like his personal contact info. J. 7. Hey ladies- Has anyone used PromoVisionPV to do their wedding video. I checked out their site and they seem good, but was looking to find any feedback from the ladies I trust the most. Or if you haven't heard of or actually used them, I would love to know who you plan to use or did use. Thanks Kathy
  8. Heather- I hope wedding planning is going great for you. I still look at your engagement pics and love love love them. So here is the skinny on Brit. She has cut all sugar out of her diet. This includes all fruit, which we all know has a high sugar count. She is consuming 1200 calories a day which consist of: fish, veggie burgers, lots of veggies, chicken and protien/fiber based meals. She is also doing 45-60 min of cardio 5 times a week with 3 days of strength training. Get this she does 600 sit ups a day. I am only up to 200, I can't imagine 600. I do all kinds as I am sure she does. I know it seems silly to follow her regiment, but hey if she can be crazy, has a body that has had two kids and look like that. I know I can... hee hee
  9. Congrats jrodsgirl.... Ann would you mind posting an update on the total contest. This would really help motivate me for the next two weigh-ins. (there is two left, right?) Also I have news I am embarrassed to admit but Britney Spears has been my new idol. Has anyone seen her latest photos. She looks great...... I found some info on what her trainer is doing with her and I have been following if for a week now and plan to stick to it. I am convienced I will see results. Though I am not 26 years old and have a personal chef and trainer I am convienced if Brit can do it so can I. Best of luck
  10. Oh and with our room block we, meaning my fiance and I got our stay at the dreams for free
  11. In response to Kisa's info about holding rooms. We booked 20 rooms for May 09' at the Dreams and had to put down $2000 which we will get back after the wedding. Our guests have already fulfilled our 20 rooms plus, so that puts my mind at ease. This did secure a rate of $108 pp per day, which I felt was great. Please let me know if someone else got a better rate. Mattang: As far as having a wedding. I know someone who has a great villa sleeps 10 people and can accommodate a wedding of approx 30 people and the villa during off season is only $700 a night. Which is great divided by 10 people. There is other villas near by for other guests or they can stay at the Dreams. If you would like more info let me know. Happy Planning..... Again I know Kristin from Dazzling Details comes with a fee but it is totally worth every penny.
  12. check out: Casa Valerie (great space, I heard from 4 people owners is difficult to work with, this is actually even the census around town) Villa Quinta del Mar (amazing location for a wedding) Villa Verde (another good spot for a party, I didn't like the accommodations but the pool area is great for a bash) Villa Celeste (nice villa across the street from the beach) Villa Encanto (this villa is so so but the yard and private beach area is the best set up for awedding in Bucerias) Casa Linda (I wouldn't suggests this place it isn't kept up very well) Casa Rana (not familiar with this) In response to Kisa's list she posted. I did look into a number of these villas and even toured some of them. Here is my personal feedback, see above.
  13. Here is some info I will try to find more. At least there are a few pictures. AOPA Online: Return to Norman's Cay
  14. I looked too and can't get the link to work for some odd reason. Last I checked it was approx. $1200 for the week plus airfare. You fly into Nassua then charter a plane which will run about $120pp to the island. It is magical there. I will try to find info and send it out. If you google Normans Cay Exumas or McDuff's Normans Cay you can start to read all the history about this amazing place. The island was once owned by Carlos Lehder a Columbian Drug Lord and many of his homes are still standing. There is also a plane in the ocean you can snorkel through. This plane had to take a crash landing with drugs in it. Again this is very secluded you will meet some amazing people. But for the most part you will be alone with the beauty of this place all to yourself.
  15. I don't know if you are opening to using an outside Wedding Coordinator but Kristin from The Dazzling Details does weddings at The DReams Resort. I am having my wedding ceremony there and Kristin is setting everything up. I also tried reaching out to the Dreams and never heard back from them. I decided to go with Dazzling Details and they had a wedding date and time booked in less than a day at the Dreams. Again it is a good option and may make you feel better about who you are working with. Dreams Resort really likes to work with Kristin which is a huge plus. Best of luck
  16. No problem. Again I though EM was very nice, but I really clicked with Dazzling Details and I also want my wedding to be different than a regular wedding with white covered chairs and white table clothes. I wanted me guest to be WOWed and that was important place to spend our money. We are having approx. 80 guests. Kristin's actual fee was more than EM - Vallarta's but less than anyone elses. Again her over all prices of catering and everything else was less though.
  17. Kathie- I spoke to Carolyn early on in the process and she was very helpful and provided me with lots of guidance. In the end after reviewing a proposal from EM-Vallarta and Dazzling Details, I decided to go with Dazzling Details for a few reasons. 1. The catering was a better price with DD 2. with DD we were able to provide the alcohol which save a lot of money 3. when i spoke to Kristin with DD we really clicked and I enjoyed talking to her about my wedding When I was in PV I met Zac who owns EM-Vallarta and he seemed like a good guy, though I only met him for awhile. Kristin was amazing. She is extremely helpful, honest and is very talented. I wanted someone who would do most of the planning and decor with little to no guidance from me. I wanted to focus on the extra events we would be doing with our guests and I also wanted the weddign day to be a surprise to even me. So it will come down to what is important. Again I believe EM does a great job but overall it will come down to cost and who you like working most wiht.
  18. Congrats on the wedding planning. I went to Sayulita's when I was in PV in May. It took us 40 minutes and a $2 bus ride from Puerto Vallarta. This is a great place for a wedding. When I was there, we actually hung out with a bunch of people our age who were there for a wedding. Here is the feedback they gave us. They loved the place and were all beach and surfer people. This is the only thing to do there. There is about 4 restaurants that are good to eat at. The other places are little Mexican joints. The town is all dirt roads and you can walk everywhere. There is only one main street. The people we met were there for a week and they did say they were bored after day 3. Many of them took the bus to PV, but were upset that they had to be back the same day. They said it wouldn't be bad if they were there for 4 days max, but 1 week was too long because there was nothing to do. If your guests are really chill, hippy, beach loving people I don't think this will be a problem. The people on the beach are all very free loving hippy types. There were people from age 18 - 65 smoking weed on the beach all day long. I have to be honest it was a great change for us when we came for the day from PV but it was also nice to know we were going back to PV where there were more options. Sayulita is beautiful and the beach is great and villas will take your breath away. Your guests could go golfing at near by Punta Mita. You can also do south of Puerto Vallarta it isn't very touristy, feels more like South of Italy type of place. Lots of locals and great options for eating and going out. I really love Zona Romatican, didn't love Centro or PV city part, but the rest was like a dream come true. I have tons of pictures of both Sayulita and PV if you would like. Just email me. Best of luck
  19. Thanks for the info on The Beach House. Marco and Zac are coming to NYC next week so I am going to sit down and discuss details with Marco. I want to have my Welcome Reception at the Beach House so it will just be 2 hours of open bar. NO food! Just long enough for sunset then we can all go out for dinner after or just on the town. I am going my Rehearsal Dinner at Boca Bento. We went there to do our tasting for our wedding catering and the food was amazing. The shrimp tequilla shooters will blow your mind. Since we are using Boca Bento and Plush Catering (same owners) we feel good that we are paying a great price and I know for sure my guests will love it. I priced El Dorado and La Playa and both for what we were looking for were about $1100 to $1800 more than what we are paying with Boca Bento and I love the restaurant and location. Congrats on booking a place. Keep me posted. k
  20. I was looking for a dress online for a wedding I am going to in St. Johns in October and stumbled upon these..... I wanted a wild pair of shoes that would really stand out under my dress. Here they are. I am so excited. Shoes (check) Wedding Dress (check) BM Dress's (check) This is coming together so well.
  21. Welcome to the forum.... YOu will love this site. I am looking at Curacao for my honeymoon, would love any information you have. I have never been, but really leaning towards it. Does anyone have personal pictures from Curacao?? Let me know if you need help with boarding pass invites or anything else. Best
  22. When I was trying on dresses I knew I didn't want a big satin/silk traditional gown. Mainly because I am having a beach ceremony and I wanted to look like a beach bride not a church bride. So while trying on dress, which I love dresses, I never got that WOW I am going to be a bride in this dress feeling. UNTIL>>>>>>> They placed a veil on my head. I got butterflies. I almost started crying. The veil changed the whole dress. I literally am not a dramatic person but once the veil went on, I then saw myself as a bride. Do the veil. But be prepared with flowers or a beautiful hair piece for when the veil comes off. Best Kathy
  23. JoAnn Welcome to the forum. This is like bridal crack you are going to love this site. I am getting married at Dreams in Puerto Vallarta but will be at the Dreams in Tulum on your wedding day. We are spending 2 days there to start our honeymoon. Where we go from there is still a mystery... Congrats
  24. I think the bubble hem looks great on you. You should keep that to wear to your rehearsal dinner. Sorry to not make this easier. I would consider the body shape of your BM that is 26. If she has hips at all do #2 for her. The bubble hem doesn't look good on women with hips. But with that said the bubble hem is also a very mature look and I am not sure a 12 year old could pull it off without looking like a balloon. #2 is very conservative and pretty could be good for both. Did you check out Nordstroms. They have a Maggy London line which is very affordable. Sale dresses are around $75 and full price $135-$165. YOu can get two different styles that fit both of their bodies, yet the same fabric. I had a hard time chosing myself and I wish you luck. Again the bubble hem looks great on you.
  25. Hey ladies- I am trying to figure out what to do for honeymoon. My fiance is a diver and I am getting certified next month. So we would like a relaxing honeymoon, yet also have the opportunity to do some amazing diving, hiking and adventure tours. Has anyone ever been to Curacao
