Shoe/Beach Options
K&Rwedding replied to brittbrodin's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I am wearing a 4 inch wedge. I am only five foot one so I need all the lift I can get. And to be honest once you spend all that money on a dress it is a shame to wear it without a heel. walking is sand makes you look frumpy, and in a wedding dress it just isn't right. a wedge can make all the difference. best -
Kristy this is what I was doing I was going SAt and rob was coming monday. it will be great, give me some time to just relax and focus on becoming a wife. cheers

Kate OMG!!! My fiance and I have watched your slide show twice. Your wedding looked like a dream come true. You are lucky to have worked with Lindsay and Adam. I was wondering if you know where your mom got her dress? Also where did your bridesmaids get their shoes. I really loved your wedding. The photos made me want to be there. Congrats. Where did you honeymoon?

Kerry's (long & pic heavy) Planning Thread
K&Rwedding replied to kerryjbrown's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
All I can say is Wow.... I can't believe you did this all yourself. Where did you find the time.... OMG... You are going to have an amazing time. Congrats -
J&MWedding contact stewart at boca bento, he does an amazing all-inclusive brunch package which includes drinks. the price is amazing. you can contact him at [email protected] , will you let him know i referred you. we are paying half the price some even more than that, by doing a brunch at boca bento. other places in town for a brunch or welcome party with just apps and drinks was seriously double or more. plus side to boca bento it also gives your guest a chance to see mismaloya which is beautiful and only a $7 cab ride for 4 people and it is like 7-10min ride.

soonergirl I know The Dreams allows outside coordinators I don't know about the other resorts though. I agree with you. I too wanted more than just what the hotel offers to every wedding. I really am not a packaged deal kind of person. You do pay more with an outside coordinator, but when I added up everything I wanted within the Dream price list and thought about what I would have to bring to make my decor meet my expecations plus the time, head ache, going crazy. Using an outside coordinator only ended up being 3K more. So i though hell that is so worth my time, headache and managing a resort that does a million weddings with their generic decor. With that said I have been to weddings that use the generic packages offered to everyone and have seen some turn out very nice. Plus side too is with a coordinator you usually get discounts on other vendors rentals/entertainment/decor/flowers because they use the same people over and over. I see people posting that they are paying for a DJ at the dreams for around $700 and that I know isn't with a discount:) Happy Planning

Okay- I just tried on my dress for the first time and while in the salon I was sweating and my salon assistant said "oh don't worry it is just because you are under these hot lights, it won't be that way on your wedding", she then told me that my dress fit so well I wouldn't need additional support under it. I looked at her like she was crazy I said "I will be standing under the Mexico sun at 5pm in the afternoon, I am going to sweat more" She told me to cake, she literally said "CAKE" on baby powder under my dress. All over, under my arms, around my waist, between my boobs, between my legs on my belly. She said put power and a lot of it every where. That way it will soak up any moisture and keep it from going through my dress and my dress also won't stick to me. Okay ladies, This is where I need advise from the ones who have stood under the Mexico sun and melted in their dresses. What did you do? Do you suggest doing this? I know it doesn't sound pretty.

Show us your wedding dress!

Heather it is BCBG runway resort 2009, they had a sale going if you buy a dress over $300 you get a $100 off right now. Here is the link. The one in the photo doesn't give it justice, really it is much pretty and sexy in person. It is a little more fit in the bottom and the back strapes flow they don't fit tight. I feel like Penelope Cruz in "Blow" in the dress. I'm home sick, yucky and Rob is in Germany.... How is your Valentine's Day? here is the link BCBGMAXAZRIA - <BR> RUNWAY COLLECTION: runway RESORT: RUNWAY RUFFLED CHIFFON GOWN what do you think about these shoes with the bcbg dress, they aren't cheap but I love them and know I will wear them again. But I wouldn't wear them with my bridal gown, so tough decision. go to louisvuitton.com in the search bar type in Apple, they will appear in black but you can click and see the white ones. Jacilynda and Cancunbride- Thank you both. The dress is Alvina Valenta from her 2006 collection. I had a Tara Keely dress already, but after seeing this dress in a photo I was in love. So I am also a two dress bride. I am going to change after dinner into this. I do have to say it looks much different on me than on the model.] the best part one of my friends gave it to me as a bridal gift. -
Marisol-- Do you live here in NYC I can't believe you are getting married at The Dreams a month before me. I too am planning to do a Sunset Toast at the Barracuda Bar, tryign to keep additional cost down, at the hotel. Have you actually seen the bar area? I would love to talk to you about what you are planning to do. Best Kathy

Congrats to me photography is so so so important. Yeah!!!!!!!!! -
Heather I just emailed you. BTW I love your inspiration board I love TEc and Chelsea's wedding (the couple from Nashville) they are so cute. Susan- I booked on sidestep.com NYC-PVR then Cancun-NYC is was $400 which I thought was great, it was cheaper than a regular round trip to PVR. Oh and btw I met a bride who has stayed at La Tortuga Hotel in Playa Del Carmen and loves it. The prices are great it is romantic and she really had nothing but great things to say. Also the Royal all-inclusive on the water in PDC looks great too. Susan we must keep in touch because if you do the Riviera for your honeymoon we will be there the same time. WE are staying at the Tides from May 24-May 31st. We have to meet up for a drink in Playa Del Carmen. Cheers Kathy

Post your "Must Have" wedding songs
K&Rwedding replied to TammyWright's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
My wedding party is walking out to Barry White "Can't get enough of your love baby" I think they will more dance out. Surprised to not see a lot of Barry White songs out there. I was wondering if anyone is doing fireworks, what song they are having play during them -
Asha- I actually have hands on experience with couples who do just an ipod and sounds system. 1. I was at a wedding in the fall and it was only about 50 people or so and since the music off of itunes or where ever you get your music isn't always recorded at the same level (something you can't control has to do with technical things with the serivce provided) When you hook up a sound system, the level of volume changes a lot from song to song. So we would be on the dance floor and all of the sudden the song would change and you could hardly hear it, especially since it was outside. Then we would turn it up and the next song would come on and it was so loud it hurt. By the end of the night the bride/groom were so frustrated and embarrassed that it put a little damper on the night. 2. MY BF is a wedding coordinator and she once had a bride/groom just provide an ipod and not use a DJ who was dedicated to changing the volume. So the same thing happened and instead of her having the time to run the event she had to adjust every song that played and the bride/groom had to handle the speaches, introductions and everything since she had to be a suto DJ... So all in all I say spend the $400, the things people remember most is the entertainment at a wedding, drinks & food second and decor last. Happy planning

Jenn YOu are going to have such a great time. Are you planning on doing any other organized events at Dreams? I was thinking of doing a bon'fire or event a cocktail party, but find it a little odd how much they charge per head though it is an all-inclusive. Would love to hear what you are doing. Can't wait to see your review with lots and lots of pictures. We are maybe going to do a little impromptu welcome party at Baracuda Bar by the new part of the hotel just to greet our guests. Please let me know if you think it is nice enough. OMG you are going to have an amazing time I can't believe it is here. Congrats

Jenn One last thing where are you getting your hair and make up done. I would love to know more about that. I am doing a trial at Dreams and one at Blu in town. This is probably the area I am most picky about. So far all the pictures I have seen of brides that used the Dreams salon, had a lot of make-up on that didn't look styled, meaning I am not afraid of dramatic eyes, with extended lashes I just want to look like I stepped away from the Chanel counter at Saks. And hair styles I feel I could do myself. I really want to have great make-up and still look like myself without it being caked on and want my hair to rock..... Wow doesn't every bride want that. can't wait for your review. Enjoy every minute of it

Jen- I am so excited for you..... I can't believe the time is here. If you could in middle of all your craziness, take pictures of the bars there you would rock. I want it to be a small bar kind of intimate, but no frills. Everyone will be coming to the party at different times based on when they landed and if they are tired. So I want it to be very chill but also a nice location to watch the sunset.... I don't think you are able to book a reservation at a restaurant for that many people and sit for 3 hours. Which is also what I don't want. Jenn I wish you the best on everything. I can't wait to see pictures. Knock'em dead girl

Is anyone familiar with the bars on property. Like Baracuda bar. Here is my situation. We are wanting to save a little money and was thinking instead of a formal Welcome Reception we would just designate a bar by the beach and tell everyone to come there once they check in. Do kind of a sunset welcome party, from 6-9pm. I know you can coordinate something with the hotel but I believe it is 20pp. Ouch... Has anyone done this there? Does anyone have suggestions to what bar they would recommend us telling our guests to meet at between those times? I would like to face the ocean so they can see the sunset? Any feedback or suggestions.... Thanks in advance

Who hosts the bridal shower?

I think anymore it is whomever offers. Most info I found on this states it is your bridesmaids or friends. Usually isn't immediate family, but I think this is assuming they are paying for the wedding. I believe any mroe anything goes.
