  1. *Whew , thanks so much Kristie. I wasn't sure, and when you have the internet and friends telling you that getting the DN is a pipe dream I began to worry. Thanks for clarifying that for me!
  2. Wow! Elizabeth those pics are beautiful! I especially love the textures you used for the second one!
  3. These books are such an inspiration! Thanks for sharing them with us.
  4. KtK, I actually don't think that there is anything wrong with hosting your AHR later; even 6months later. I'm not sure about a year though- maybe someone else has some more information and ideas regarding that.
  5. Oh forgot one more thing....I've been several weddings, and a few were DW (as I was looking at a minimum of 20 hours driving time/3 hours flight time) and I always bought gifts. It just all depends on your guests!
  6. I find a lot of brides are torn when it comes to registries. Some include a registry sheet with their invites, and others use word of mouth. Personally, if its a traditional cultural expectation then I see nothing wrong with including a registry information sheet with the invite. It would simply state: Registry name (yours) and where it can be located(online). When guests make it to the website they'll get more information. Another thing you could do is mention it on your wedsite, as well as have your parents, and bridal party mention it to others (word of mouth). P.S. In my mind a registry is a registry is a registry If your guests are used to them, it won't matter the type- honeymoon, kitchen and bathroom, etc. Good luck!

  8. I just looked at the website...beautiful! I couldn't help but take a peek at their dinner menu...your guests are going to be raving the food!
  9. I'm actually toying with the idea. From what I understand you'd probably need a good custom broker/officer down there to ship your item to and to hold it. I.e. instead of shipping it to the resort, you'd ship it to the custom's company and have them hold it and then deliver it to the hotel when you arrive. Just make sure you arrive with plenty of time to spare. I also understand that it's not too pricey if you ship it via 'barrel' and if you declare it as personal effects. Chances are with customs, and duty, it might come up to around $250, and that includes shipping materials, cost, customs, duty, delivery, custom broker fees, insurance etc.
  10. I know that this is a few months late, but has any Canadians had problems bringing Sparklers to Jamaica? Also does it matter which airport you fly into- Donald Sangster (Montego Bay) vs Norman Manley (Kingston)?
  11. Thanks ladies. I'll be checking out those links - hopefully I can find someone who uses textures etc. I actually have a short list of a few hopefuls but its always good to source out more choices and options in case our needs change. I also looked at Sungold, Michael Saab and few others too. Choosing a photographer is hard hard work!

I even saw on one messageboard where one photog told another that the client can ask all they want, but the only way he'd budge is if they were willing to buy the digital negatives/high res disc at 1,000 an image. Of course I know he was being cheeky it makes me wonder- how difficult will it be to get the high res disc/digital negatives? And if the photog isn't willing to supply, it it grounds to walk away and try my luck at another? Just wanted to add and say that this post was meant to be cheeky, its just that I'm honestly wondering how to get the digital negatives/high res disc to be apart of the package if they won't offer it.

  16. Hi ladies, So far we've concluded that 2011 might be best for us, and we've decided on Jamaica. What we haven't decided on is the venue and other vendors. Ideally we're NOT looking for an AI like RIU or the Sandals chain. We have a few ideas and these places allow us bring in our own vendors like photography etc. So we're wondering who can you suggest? I have to be honest we've been deadset for Jesh de Rox. He's an awesome Canadian photographer, and when we've been watching him and his work for about 3 years. Last year we spoke with him, and discussed prices and we could have had a package that included his travel expenses. It was a little expensive but we really adore his style. A few months later we checked his price list (we used to check his site religiously), and he tippled his starting packages We're still stunned...and so we decided that as much as we love his work, we can't pay that much for photography- especially if that's the starting price. Anyways, I was hoping you ladies might know of photographers who are NOT that expensive. We love fine art texture photography, and we know its a matter of great composition and post processing. We're also hoping for one that travels and does TTD etc. Anyways, sorry for rambling, but I'm hoping you ladies can help us. TIA!
  17. Awww....reminds me of a puppy we had when I was a kid - we called him 'Crush Velvet'. :-)
