  1. Julia- That is great, sounds like what we are thinking too. Thanks!
  2. Hi Ladies- I tried doing a search on save the dates, but couldn't find an answer, so I hope this thread isn't a duplicate. Anyway, my question with regard to save the dates...How did you determine who you should send them to? I mean, if you know that you want to invite someone, but their circumstances would likely prevent them from attending a destination wedding, do you still do a save the date? There are alot of people I would like to invite, even though they wouldn't likely come. Partially because it seems like it would be a slap in the face to them if they weren't at least invited, and partially because they mean something to me. The flipside is that I dont want people to feel like I am over-inviting so I can get more gifts. What is the etiquette on this one? Thanks!!!!!

  4. I'm such a dork. In addition to the pain, I cant imagine being on hands and knees in front of a stranger. But I so want to do this, I may just have to get the courage!!!
  5. I'm with you. I understand if they dont want to be involved with what color flowers are in the bouquet or whatever, but they should help with the "not fun" stuff, like hotel rooms and guest arrangements. FH is definitely going to have assignments. That said, I think my wedding is going to be 50 people with about 6 from his side.

My FH decided he didn't want to sit in tonight and decided he was going to get the guys together to watch basketball at a bar. I haven't been able to do anything fun because I am sick too, and was really looking forward to holing up with him and watching a movie or something. I dont care if he goes out with the guys, but to decide at 4pm when I am counting on a night with him...grr. So now I am BORED stiff. What a crappy a$$ weekend! I hate being sick.
  7. Poor thing. I hope the other OBG can shed light on things, obviously not exactly your situation, but maybe has seen something like this before. Keep your chin up...
  8. Do these tend to run big or small? Also, how close to the dress on Two Birds is this? Do the same directions apply?
  9. I am so glad I found this thread, I have been wondering like crazy how everything went, Rachel!!! Glad to hear it was magical, but sorry you were sick! Can't wait to hear reviews and see pictures! CONGRATS

Whenever I walked past him when we were at LC he would hum the wedding march! I was thinking he would be an awesome MC!

Thanks, I will ask Nicole, and get back to everyone...Yari, you can change things for a while still, I think. Nicole told me she didnt even need to know my guest count until 30 days before!
  13. For junior members like myself, is the significance of the starfish that we share in it together and it is something borrowed? I was wondering the "origins" of this tradition!
  14. I trust Duke. It's my "man of honor" (he thinks he is anyway) that I don't trust. He told me he was going to get Duke, and I quote, so much tail at his bachellor party. I said, Mike, you want to get uninvited to the event of the year, be my guest buddy. He zipped it up pretty quickly.

I am currently dealing with a bout of something not sure what...and was contemplating taking these, but they are pretty old now. But it does really work. Same concept behind ginger ale. Good luck!

I have probably mentioned it too much, and my wedding is 8 mo away. But people seem to know about the legalities of Mexico. So they say are you having a legal wedding there? What should I say? I didn't think it was a big deal if people found out, but rethinking it, maybe it is. Maybe to others it devalues the DW. I was thinking of it more in terms of "filing paperwork, etc" but hmmm, guess not.
  18. I got one for xmas this year from FI and I dont believe I ever expressed an interest. I love it though. I don't use it all the time, but when I do, I love it and can't take my eyes off it. A guy I work with has one in his office and he turns it off every night. That is cool I guess but I would worry about it getting stolen. The other thing is I would put it on a shelf or on the wall, and let it do its thing, but remember it has a cord. Just something to keep in mind. It is fun though!
  19. Have you guys seen this one? I LMAO!!! She shows her <ahem> girls!!! I am glad you all feel like I do about the smiley's. I was afraid I was being a huge dork and using them too much. But okay, now i will use to my hearts content!
  20. Okay, so I will try to give the short version but god knows that isnt easy for me! So we were heading to London, and he had already told me that he wanted to marry me but hadn't found a good ring yet and the timing wasnt right but our time would come. And I was okay with it at that point. I was like, oh well, when the timing is right. So we spend 3 wonderful days in Scotland, and a few more days in England. He told me since staying over new years was my idea, I had to find something fun for us to do. Anything I recommended, he wasnt into, until finally he said, lets get food and candy and vodka and relax together in the hotel room. (We were absolutely exhausted from being tourists all day!). So we were just drinking and playing and laughing at the TV and then at around 11:30 pm he suggested a walk to see if we could see fireworks. So we went out and found alittle pub near our hotel in South Kensington. By the time we got there, we heard cheers and got upset that maybe we missed NYE. But they were just beginning the countdown. We were actually outside the pub with most people (everyone smokes in UK, but the bars don't allow it!) and at NYE we hugged and kissed and said I love you baby, and then he pulled me around the corner (away from the masses) and dropped to his knee. I pretty much lost it and started saying OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. It gets blurry from there. But I said yes and started balling my eyes out. We wanted to go in and have champagne but realized we both left without money or wallet or anything. As we walked back to the hotel to get money, we heard a brittish gal on the phone saying "some american just proposed to his girlfriend!" It was so cute. We got money and shared champagne and met some locals. It was the best New Years ever. And I dont normally like New Years that much!!! I didn't sleep that entire night because I was so happy and excited, and couldnt believe that I got exactly what I wanted more than anything (I adore this man, I am sure you all understand!!!). I also wanted to show him how domestic I would be, so I repacked his luggage for our flight the next day, in the dark! Suffice it to say, that domestic goddess in me didnt last. He did good...

Duke managed to have lunch with my dad and go to the jewelry store countless times and I was totally stupid about it. I knew he was ring shopping but when I would get hot on his scent, he would say look this isnt going well I am not finding what I want and I want you to have the perfect ring so just leave it alone. And then when it did happen...SHOCK!
  22. We got engaged after being together for 1 yr and 3 months. There was a month hiatus <=0> in there too.
