Marie, I agree. It sucks that they are coming down there, but you are in NO way obligated t pay for them. $55 pp adds up really really quicky. Maybe you can have them come join you for the rehearsal dinner since that is free, but thats it. Tell your friends to explain to them that the wedding is for your closest friends and family, and that you are trying to keep costs down. Just remember, that day is about you and FO and the beginning of your lives together, so don't let anything get you down!!!

Crazy Crazy Crazy Bridesmaid!!!
drbrainfreeze replied to drbrainfreeze's topic in Just venting or funnies
Weekend Update: So some other friends had a BBQ this weekend and she came to the BBQ. She had gone to Walmart earlier in the day and dropped $200 for the trip....jeez...this is what she bought: Because she read about it on Trip Advisor: 2-3 pillows since the resort ones are hard. She will leave these behind. 2 beach towels because they have cute stuff on 'em, and the ones we have for the OOT bags are plain.... 2 bath towels since she thinks they won't give her enough 4 washcloths since they do not give them out (according to TA) 4 sull sized shampoos and conditioners Gosh there was also something funny....Oh yeah, she bought a TON of snack foods so that she doesnt have to buy them in the gift shop (things like Pringles). Again this is an AI. You are bound to find snacks. You really need to spend $60 on snacks to pack? I think this girl may be bringing more luggage than me ;-) Oh and she had the nearve to make fun of me for the 6 bathing suits that I own and am bringing with me. (a)3 of them are old (b)I am spending 2 weeks in the carribean between the wedding and the cruise honeymoon!! Oh she bought me some water shoes (kinda nice!!!) from Walmart. But then she proceeded to tell me how hers are WAY better than mine and she spent $50 on them from overstock and how I should have gone this route but I am out of time. So that was my weekend with her I still love her though! -

This is their big vacation for them this year and it is nowhere she has been before. So HE has HIS hands full! He just roll shis eyes at her all the time. Kinda funny. The couple is also good friends with a group of friends that we have going, so there shouldnt be a problem, except she drives our friends crazy too! -

So, FI and I decided that we wanted to bring a cake serving set. Of course, we waited til last minute to decide this. We went to Things Remembered but everything is so expensive, and I wasn't too in love with anything they had. Plus they basically kill you on engraving fees! So we deicded to give OTC a chance with their set. We figured, even if they were crappy, we would only be using it for the wedding. Well, we got them and they are SO nice. They are huge, beautiful, and a great weight. I thought they would be flimsy, but that is not the case. They were actually better than what I had found in TR and Bed, Bath and Beyond. The best thing? With the coupon, the set was $19.00 with free engraving. They can't engrave the knife, but thats ok. I can even see us using this in the future at home. Silver-Plated Stacked Hearts Knife And Cake Server Set I didn't take a pic of mine and its all wrapped up and packed, but I highly recommend this set!

Beach Mats

I'm sure that they wont give you a hard time. I am going on US Air as well, and my plan is to nicely speak with the gate agent as soon as she/he is not overcrowded by other passengers, and ask that we can maybe get on the plane first so that we can get an over head. FI also has his garment bag so we are going to try and stuff those up there together, maybe on top of our rollong suitcases. Otherwise, I will just fold it in half and try to stick it under the seat Worse comes to worse, they force us to gate check our rolling suitcases but hopefully not since we are already chceking 2 bags. I will let you know in a few weeks!

Just checking in on everyone. This weekend was pretty productive and we got a TON of crap marked off the huge to-do list. The reward is a new Desperate Housewives so pretty excited for that. FI just mentioned to me he thinks that now he wants a sand ceremony. I had mentioned it to him forever ago, and now, 2.5 weeks away, he wants one ;-) So next week we will be in the search for some supplies for that. Still gotta write the vows, clean and get the music on the IPod. All big-ish things to do. I also want to find a cute dress, spme sperrys and my wedding undies. Which I will do without him. And of course drop some money at MAC :-) All done next weekend while he is at the BBQ. Then I don't have to spend the $$ in front of him. Otherwise somewhat stress-free!

YES! That is exactly what she has been doing all week!! Trip Advisor addiction!!! She actually apologized today to me and said shes just excited and she knows I can't make plans. I just laughed and told her it was fine. She just wants to know what time every little thing is happening, thats all. I will add to this though if she starts up again! -

Congrats on your wedding -- it's soooo soon! Christie He has no clue. He doesn't even know I did this. I just told him that I wanted to stay somewhere nice one night. When he sees the room in the pics though...he will be shocked! I got the rest of the photos, but I am waiting on the CD so that I have the full res copies to make the book.

ROR Poolside Reception
drbrainfreeze replied to drbrainfreeze's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
There are pictures that people took of their beach receptions. I would look in the reviews section or use the search function. One thing to remember - currently, the beach party is on Saturday nights, and sometimes Chandlyn will not allow for beach receptions that night. Sometimes they move it farther down the beach. So I think its hit or miss. There was also another bride who had her reception at the lagoon, so there is another option, and she has her pictures in the review section. Not sure if they will continue that. Best bet is to book early. -

Just so you don't think your FI is doing something really weird! Yeah....see tax season just ended so the mind is not all there...I think I have forgotten how to think!!! But then after I posted that I was like, crap...NFL draft. I live in fantasy football world, so when I hear "draft" I think fantasy. Yeah, its sad. I thought it was a little weird until I realized what was really up.

Love it so far!! Conragts on becoming a Mrs. Cannot wait to hear more and see your pics. I'm glad you found their makeup application good. I will be bringing my own too and having them apply. -
This happend with my resort, but since I had made our final payments we could not get the price difference. And it was significant too...

Ok, is anyone else annoyed by Spencer's scuzzy, gross older looking guy friend...his ONLY friend...that he hangs out with?

We went for our final fittings the other day and took a non-bridal party friend with us who can't make it to Jamaica. She wanted to see my dress. After like 2 hours, she turns to my friend - "Ashley, are you always this bubbly and hyper? I have never seen you calm!!" Ahhh the joys of friendship. Luckily we are not on a plane with em! -
Yeah, I was fine and dandy until FO came over to me to ask me if I didn't care if he went to an NFL football draft BBQ on April 25. Now, I don't know why someone would do this in April, but whatever. In terms of wedding stuff, we are almost done with everything -just the little odds and ends to tie up. But our house needs a major major cleaning. Theres nothing worse than coming home to a cruddy, dirty, messy house after and awesome, relaxing vacay... So we have 3 weekend left (OMG!!) This weekend: Last minute shopping and organizing. Hope to get at least a room clean and done. Need to get his shirt and pick up his coat. We also have some friends coming in for a night and we have to entertain a little for them. So that really leaves us tomorrow night and Sunday... Next weekend. DMB Fri night Saturday - Hangover recovery AM (Hopefully not too bad). Then he wants to go to that BBQ thing I guess, then we have a houewarming/Bday party for our friends that PM, so Sat is out completely. Sunday - Guess the only day to do stuff that weekend. Following and Last weekend Hair appointments, Dentist appointments, Mani/Pedi/Waxing, Last minute packing, last minute cleaning, and any and all things that will and do come up. Oh yeah, and the guys that could not make it to Vegas want to throw him another stipper laden bach party. I cannot complain about this as I really do not care. But that puts him out of commission for ANOTHER 6 hours!! But other than that...all peachy keen and ready to get my butt to Jamaica
