  1. For me it was Space Food Sticks...does anyone else remeber these things from the 70's? They were made by Pillsbury and looked allot like a Slim Jim...but were kinda like a chocolate or peanut butter Tootsie Roll. I loved these things when I was a kid Space Food Sticks - Retro, Nostalgic Treat from the "Space Age!" from the Victory Old-time Candy Store I got really excited when I heard they re-released them and bought a box....they are not the same...I mean they aren't even sticks anymore!!

    Hello

Yeah...another RMB bride!! I am no longer the only one...there are now a handful of us floating around on this board. I can not wait to see pics of it after it opens. The curiousity is killing me. We should share notes!
  3. Yeah! another RMB bride! Until the resort opens next month, they don't have a wedding planner. You can try e-mailing [email protected] Here is the paperwork info I got for Jamaica from Riu. It is the 2008 stuff, so it doesn't have RMB listed yet.: Jamaica: Notarized copies of Birth Certificate Notarized copies of Passports or driver’s license Notarized copies of divorce papers (if applicable) Notarized copies of death certificate (if applicable) Notorized Documents stating name changes (if applicable) Notarized, written parental consents (if under 21 years of age) Renewal of vows in Jamaica: These ceremonies are a blessing. However, in Jamaica, you need to send us a photocopy of the Marriage Certificate. *All documents have to be notarized and presented in English 30 days prior to the ceremony. If your wedding is performed at the RIU Tropical Bay, please send the documents to the following address: * Riu Tropical Bay Norman Manley Blvd Negril, Hanover Jamaica W.I. In attention to Keneika Rowe, the on- site wedding coordinator. If your wedding is performed at the RIU Ocho Rios, please send the documents to the following address: * RIU Ocho Rios Mammee Bay P.O. Ocho Rios St. Ann JAMAICA In attention to Chandlyn Edwards, the on-site wedding coordinator. If your wedding is performed at the RIU Negril, please send the documents to the following address: * RIU Negril Norman Manley Boulevard Bloody Bay Negril JAMAICA In attention to Dionne Arthurs, the on-site wedding coordinator. Hope this helps. Let me know if there is anything else.
  4. yup, you can use the glue on hotfix. They will act just like the glue on ones w/o any heat. It should be no problem.
  5. I think I likely know more about rhinestones that anyone should. I own a vintage jewelry repair store and I reset rhinestones all day, every day. I would not recomend using hot glue on them. If it gets warm outside, the hot glue starts to melt and gets tacky. They rhinestones will fall off or move around in no time. I don't think point back stones are what you are looking for. They need a rounded cup to sit in. You will want to stick to the flat back stones. FBs come in 2 styles...glue on and hotfix. The hotfix stones already have an adhesive on the back. You heat the adhesive up to attach it. I use a soldering iron for this...but Joanns and Michaels sell special hotfix irons for around $20. If you go the glue on route, you will want a tube of G-S Hypo Cement. It is hands down the best glue to use with rhinestones. It also comes with a needle like applicator so it's very easy to use. The best place to get bulk FB rhinestones is likely EBay. I generally use the point back, so I don't have many of those...but I do sell vintage rhinestones. Also I would not get acrylic or fire polished stones . Make sure you get glass machine cut stones. (like Swarovski). If you have any questions or need any help, just let me know.
  6. I just thought I'd post the newest Riu Montego Bay construction pic I found here for all my fellow RMB brides. This pic was taken in July from the private island at Sandals Royal Carrb. The resort looks great from what we can see. Riu is still saying the official opening date is 8/28....so things are looking good!
  7. We are eloping, so it's just the 2 of us in Jamaica...so we don't have a wedding party. She will be due about 1 or 2 weeks after we get back...so she won't be able to fly with us. We are still thinking about having an AHR and if we do I will have her be my MOH for that. We haven't decided on that yet though. I'll have to suggest the belly pics to her. My parents live in CA and we live in WA...so maybe I'll help her create a website so they can keep up to date on all the progress.
  8. I'm in total shock...happy...but shocked. My sister and I are about 7 years apart, but shared a room growing up and as a result, became very close. I think in my head I still picture her as the cute little thing that drove me nuts and always got in my stuff..LOL. She and her husband went on a 1 year anniversary trip to St. Thomas in mid June. It looks like they created a anniversary baby. I'm super happy for them. I can't wait to see how she looks at 6 months...she is tiny (5'3" & 100Lbs soaking wet) and I think the baby will begin to show very quickly. I guess it's a blessing that we decided to elope and have it be just the 2 of us becuase I would have just lost my MOH.
  9. Jamaican Law says 24 hours, not 2 days. The Riu is the one stating 2 days. We are getting married at the Riu Montego Bay and ran in to the same situation. Our TA was able to get us the day we wanted. We arrive the 26th and are getting married the 28th. They don't do weddings on Sunday...so we would have had to wait till the 2nd if they haddn't let us move up the date. I was SOOOOO happy when I finally got my confirmation for the 28th.
  10. from another Jamaica bride!
  11. I grew up on Oahu, but it's been a long time since I have been back. You'll have a blast
  12. I'm a Feb '09 bride as well...I can't wait!
  13. Lots of great info here
  14. Is your cruise leaving from Seattle or Vancouver? If so let me know and I can help w/ touristy stuff.
  15. I own a vintage jewelry store and I can tell you that it is important to store your jewelry correctly if you want to make it last as long as possible. I can't tell you what horrible things I've seen happen to lovely pieces that were stored incorrectly. Here are some great jewelry storage tips: •Those large wood free-standing jewelry boxes are great, but I think the best thing is antique apothecary chests. These awesome pieces of old furniture are full of small drawers and come in a variety of sizes. They have small ones that will fit on table tops as well as free standing ones. Just line the drawers with velvet or felt and you are all set. Search your local antique malls ,Craigslist, etc and I’m sure you’ll find a great one. •Place silica gel packs (those “do not eat†packets in shoe boxes) in the drawers to prevent humidity damage…especially important in rhinestone and sterling pieces. •DO NOT store your jewelry in ziplocks. It will trap moister in and damage the jewelry over time. Organza bags are what I use and can be bought in bulk on EBay for cheap. •Place your jewelry box in an area far from the bathroom. I cringe when I see someone who has a jewelry box in the bathroom. •An old frame with the glass removed makes a great earring display. Just line the frame with window screen material where the glass was and thread earrings through the mesh. Looks great on your dresser. •Your jewelry should be the last thing you put on before you leave the house. Hairsprays, makeup, perfume, etc are all bad for jewelry…of all kinds. I always tell my customers to put their “lotions and potions†on first. If you guys have any questions about jewelry (vintage or otherwise)…just ask I’m more than happy to help out.
