Mine is Dominican, whom also comes from a very traditional Dominican family where the man is the head of the household. I come from a family with many independent women that wear the pants in their individual households.. this was a stuggle for us at first, but COMMUNICATION IS KEY! we have gotten so much better at dealing with situations like this. I have had to remind him in the past that he is not my father, that I am a grown ass woman and he needs to understand this.. for awhile that just didn't work.. you know what did?? Plain, old being nice. Taking the time to tell him my feelings and relating it back to him.. asking him how he would feel if i were to talk to him a certain way.. surprisingly.. he listened & it worked. You have to be positive the entire time, so he does not feel attacked.. because if he does, he's not going to give in or see your point. You have to get him to open his mind.. to remind him that not everyone is like him or can handle that sort of talk.. remind him that you are sensitive & he hurst your feelings.. let him know it dissapoints you (not that you're mad).. unfortunately, it sounds like a game.. bc believe me, there have been times where i just wanted to shout off the top of my lungs.. 'I'm F-ing mad.. who do u think u are.. i can't stand u right now'.. but that just doesnt work (you can get it all out on your own time).. since, i handle our situations like this & he softens up bc at the end of the day, he loves me & doesn't want to hurt me.. I'm sure your DH feels the same.. anyway.. you never know.. just another approach to try.. good luck!

You will be out all day doing a million things that you really only need a place to crash. And there are no hostels in NYC. Everyone gets their own private bathroom. I would honestly recommend the Royalton Hotel. It is located in midtown very close to times square. It is modern, was recently renovated, has an awesome bar inside and the bathrooms are spacious. They have huge round bathtubs. I've stayed at the Plaza and the Four Seasons and this hotel had bigger bathrooms. New York Hotels in Manhattan - Royalton Official Site One last thing, you can't go by professional photogs vs. amateur. Of course the paid photographer is going to take a pic of the nicest room. Most people stay in the average room so it is going to look significantly different. the royalton is actually another good option! it was renovated & reopened less than a year ago.. it's near bryant park.. not too far from times square..

I work w/ NYC hotels here & there are SO many different kind of hotels you can select from.. are you limited to Times Square? What exactly are you looking for? What price range? What kind of hotels do you usually like.. therefore I can direct you to the most appropo place.. let me know, but in the meantime.. LOOKING @ OVER $700 / NIGHT PROBABLY Hotel Gansevoort - THIS IS STILL GOOD< BUT I THINK IT CAN BE CONSIDERED 'LAST YEAR'; IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THIS KIND OF HOTEL, LOOK @: BOWERY HOTEL (DOWNTOWN) EMPIRE HOTEL (LINCOLN CENTER) GILD HALL (DOWNTOWN) SIX COLUMBUS (COLUMBUS CIRCLE) HOTEL ON RIVINGTON (LOWER EAST SIDE) DUANE STREET HOTEL (TRIBECA) ANY OF THE THOMPSON HOTELS (A FEW THROUGHOUT NYC) Mandarin Oriental Hotel - SUPER PRICEY BUT OF COURSE REALLY NICE.. I just found a new awesome photographer.. CesarBido Photography.. Cesar Bido | Photography & you can also find his photos on flickr. I know that he is in santo domingo but would assume he could travel to punta cana or other areas. He does weddings & also fashion & has even taken pictures of the Ms. Dominican Republic contestant for the 2008 Miss Universe pageant. I'm not sure what his pricing is but for those brides that are looking for top quality wedding photos.. he might be a viable option! =) I'm assuming that he might be pricey though! =0
