  1. We are doing small OOT organza (Craft Warehouse) bags with Spanish for Dummies (Target), bandaids, ibuprofen, small inflatable beach balls (from Oriental Trading Co.) and Pepto with a welcome brochure for all of the guests when they arrive at the hotel. For the wedding, we are doing white paper fans (Oriental Trading Co.) at the ceremony and a CD with love & Mexico songs with a label we printed at home at their seats for the reception. We are bringing q extra suitcase for the favors & OOT bags but it will be empty on the way home!
  2. We used a TA and had about 1/3 of our group book early with her. She was helpful. The other 2/3 waited and got a way better deal but it's always a toss up. The early birds gave us more peace of mind! So, it just depends. you have to book early because you HAVE to be there. Good luck!
  3. The wedding coordinator wrote back to me about the Steakhouse and said we had to pick one menu item from the choices if the party is over 25 people, which sucks since some want fish and some want steak. She said it would be set up the same as the Tropical with a private reception if you had originally wanted it that way. Best wishes Gail!!!!!
  4. FYI- to create a smooth transition between your songs on itunes so it sounds more like a real DJ- go under Edit- preferences- playback- crossfade. You can adjust the fade. It works well!
  5. Figure out what time of year you want to the wedding and do a search on travel sites for cost for 4 and 7 days for those dates. That is the length of time most of our guests are going for. We chose based on guest travel costs instead of what the wedding would cost us. Good luck!
  6. Here is our brochure template. We are now staying at the IB Lindo and having the wedding there since the IB del Mar and Beach are closed. Check the copier you are using- we printed it two sided but had to put the two pages in opposite directions to get it to look right so just make one copy first (instead of 50 at once like I did)! It looks good in black and white if you don't want to pay for color or can't use your work copier. Mexico brochure BDW.doc
  7. We asked our TA for an upgrade but didn't get it through her. We got upgraded through the hotel itself since the del Mar and Beach are closed. The WC emailed us this week to let us know. I am hoping the Steakhouse on the "beach side" will still be private and we can just have the reception there as planned but haven't heard back from WC about that. We finished our "Welcome to Mexico" brochures and wedding day timeline. We left the location of rehearsal dinner and reception TBD since we don't know too much yet. I know it will all work out. We are over stressing about it. Our guest are super excited that our group will be upgraded! Two weeks to go!
  8. I have attached my wedding day timeline because after searching, I didn't see a template of both. I just got upgraded to the Lindo because the del Mar/Beach is closed for low occupancy so a few items are TBD. Lindo Wedding Timeline- BDW.doc
  9. I just ordered mine from Koyal Wholesale. It is a white starfish. It supposed to come tomorrow so can let you know if it looks like the pic. 10. Love the pics! Your dress and hair are awesome! Love the swine masks!!
  11. Thanks for posting pics. I am having my mom and dad walk me down the aisle (they are divorced and both helped to raise me but I lived with my mom). The pics help me picture how to hold flowers. I will make sure the aisle is wide enough though!
  12. Did the resort send you pics of bouquets? They seem to have quite a variety. PM me if you need photos. 3 weeks to go!
  13. Good luck with your decision. FI and I wanted to have a back yard BBQ at my parents house, on the west coast, but I put my mom in charge because she wanted to plan it (and that way she would leave me along about the wedding). She decided within the last month to book a reception hall, hire musicians, cater it, etc. It is getting out of hand BUT I told her to plan whatever she wanted and they are paying for it so I decided to stop stressing out about it. Our second AHR is at FI's parents house, in the midwest, and is a BBQ in the backyard. So, I guess we get both although we will be tired of smiling after all of these parties!
  14. I think the free packages are great with a small number of guests. We decided not to use Dreams because it would cost our guests more to stay there and we wanted to chose a resort that was affordable for our guests even if the wedding itself cost more for us. We have about 45 people going down so it's much larger than your group. Good luck deciding!!
  15. So, just heard back from WC and they are saying everything will be open at Del Mar for our date June 20 but it sounds like we should be ready to be moved to Lindo/Maya/Grand just in case. At this point, I have had 3 out of 3 BM drop out and found 3 new ones so I am over worrying about it. It is about the marriage and the wedding so whether they move our location or leave it, we will just be happy to be in Mexico and be swine free! Thanks for keeping us updated girls!
  16. I am so glad to hear that everything went well for you!! I am looking forward to your review and pics and we can't wait to go in June!!
  17. Congrats! You will have a GREAT TIME. I think you are right about people blowing it out of proportion. We have 5 cancel (with kids) but we are going anyway. Enjoy! FYI- Tamiflu is about $93 without insurance if anyone needs it.
  18. Bedazzled surgery masks and "pigs flu" t-shirts- just what every bride should have in their photo album! We are adding Airborne (vitamin packets) to out OOT bags and hand sanitizer but we plan on going.
  19. Gail- Thanks for sharing. We are still planning on going although my dad wants us to cancel.
