  1. I hope so. FFIL is really having a tough time at the hospital right now. We're at that crucial point where we need to see his numbers jump up soon. He's getting so depressed, I feel so bad for him. But I think you're right. I think this is the beginning of an upswing!
  2. I had something very exciting happen this weekend. FI and I purchased a condo a few weeks ago and my co-op is on the market. This weekend, I received not one, but two offers on it! The buyer I went with is going to be putting 50% down, so financing should not be a problem! I'm so relieved! The thought of having two mortgages was just so scary. As long as everything goes well, I should only have one overlapping month! I'm so excited!
  3. So happy to hear things went well! Happy road to recovery Jason!
  4. I heard about this. It's supposed to work really well.
  5. That happened to me with the 10% code as well. They just had to activate it.
  6. I heard if you wait a few hours after they open, there are still tons of dresses and the craziness has died down.
  7. We're going to the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon from St. Lucia. FI wanted Aruba, but it costs the same to fly there from St. Lucia as it does from New York, so we decided to hold off on that island. I had no intention of going to the DR, but I fell in love with Excellence Resort, so that's why we're going there. Since we didn't care what island we went to, I just started researching resorts. We narrowed it down to a few top choices and then looked at how easy/difficult it would be to get there from St. Lucia and what the cost would be. What helped was that we are flying with the same airline the entire time, so we saved money by doing a multi-city reservation. As a side note, you're probably wondering why we're not staying in St Lucia. I'll be there for a week before the wedding and we just went there last October, so we wanted to try a new place. I HIGHLY encourage you to look into St. Lucia though. I love it there.
  8. Ha ha. I saw the title of this thread and thought there is no way Erin is giving up wine.
  9. You're quite welcome. I'm happy I finally have someone to share my knowledge with! Here's the link for AA's group travel: https://www.aa.com/aa/i18nForward.do...horEvent=false There are a couple of different options (group travel or wedding travel). If you're confused at all, just call them. Their customer service is generally pretty helpful.
  10. I'm a fan of American Airlines and usually choose to fly with them over the competition. But right now they are driving me crazy! They keep changing their schedules, taking flights away and then putting them back in. The last three times I went to book all of our travel arrangements (New York to St. Lucia, St. Lucia to Punta Cana, then Punta Cana to New York), the flights have changed. This makes it very difficult to plan because we keep having to change what we're doing! I'm just wondering if anyone else has been dealing with this.
  11. Has anyone booked their flights yet? I'm booking with American (I don't really have a choice) and they keep changing their schedules! First they took away flights, so we rearranged our honeymoon plans. Now they added some back in. Grrr...Every time I look on their website, it's different. So I have to put off booking again because now we can go back to our original honeymoon plans, but I'm not sure if FI and I want to do that or stick to the new one. I just want to book!
  12. One other thing...There are 3 different Sandals locations. I believe the Grande is the one that is within walking distance of Pigeon Island.
  13. Villa Capri comes with a wedding coordinator, Kris Wagner. I just love her! We're having the reception at the villa. As for the flights, I was going to book them last week, but then a new flight popped up for our honeymoon (we're going to Excellence in Punta Cana from St. Lucia), so I had to discuss with FI which one we wanted. Now I should be booking tomorrow. The direct flights to/from JFK and St. Lucia are on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays. Definitely try to book your travel on those days. We did the layover in San Juan last year and it just kills your whole day. One other thing about traveling...check out American Airlines' group travel discount. We're getting everyone a 10% discount. The round trip flights from JFK will be under $600. I hope this helps!
  14. I'm getting married at Pigeon Island, so I was hoping to go somewhere else. I'll probably find some little cove or something while I'm down there and shouldn't worry about it ahead of time. Definitely let me know if you see any good spots though!
  15. I edited my post above, so check that out. Also, paradise is wrong as well. To me, checking the spelling is the worst part. You eventually have the whole thing memorized, so it says what you want it to say. It gets really frustrating.
  16. There are several places that say Rivera Maya instead of Riviera Maya. Just glancing I saw you were missing the second "i" three times. Double check your logo and the left side of the boarding pass. They're coming together nicely though!
  17. Not to be mean, but I think the one thing brides often forget is that the world doesn't stop for our weddings. It's not as important to everyone else. We want it to be, but it's not. If I was is your situation, I would just let FI handle it. Don't worry so much about even numbers. I've been to more weddings with uneven numbers than even numbers and it looks just as good. Also, how does the one girl feel about being "on-deck"? If you want her standing up with you, then have her stand up with you regardless of what FBIL does. If not, then don't. I think you're letting a tiny detail (even numbers) stress you out too much.
  18. Wow, that sucks. Sorry poochie is being bad.
  19. Oh, that's so exciting! Congratulations!
  20. Random question...Is anyone doing TTD in St Lucia? I am, but I'm trying to figure out where to do it. Has anyone heard of any good spots?
  21. So how is everyone doing? Any updates? I will be sending out my invitations at the end of the week. No STD's for me, just cutting right to the chase. And yes, pics will be posted.
  22. First of all, I'm so sorry. That just sucks. Hopefully this will make you feel better...I used to work in customer service at a bank. The way we handled our debit card disputes was that you would fill out a form for each charge you were disputing (hi-lighting your bank statement makes this much easier). I would then take the forms from you and give it to our back offices. You would have all of the money deposited back in your account within 24 hours. The bank then researches the disputes with Visa to make sure they are legitimate. If it turns out you were lying, the bank would then take the money they deposited into your account back. If it was legitimate, the money remains in your account and the bank gets reimbursed from Visa. I hope that makes sense. I think I only saw one person have the money taken back out of their account in the 2 1/2 years I worked there, so no worries. Oh, and we were a small bank, so I'd be shocked if most banks do not use these procedures. Good luck!
  23. I've heard that Tobago is better than Trinidad, particularly because crime has been increasing in Trinidad and Tobago is much less "spoiled." Unfortunately I do not have any specific resort recommendations though. I do get a lot of my info from Tripadvisor.com though.
  24. That's the all zipline one then. You SO have to let me know how that is. Wow, I just noticed you're getting maried in less than a month!!
  25. I live in the Hudson Valley, but work in the city. We're only a couple hours from each other! (How much are you praying that American Airlines doesn't mess with that direct flight from JFK?) For the zipline thing, I know the combo one is newer. My guess is that Sandals would offer the all ziplining one (which is the one I think I'd prefer). Do you know if the tour starts in Dennery?
