  1. We're just so happy everything worked out and that you and your family got home safe.
  2. Amy, your pics are stunning! I would be really happy with them too.
  3. By the way, I asked Alyssa to merge all of the St Lucia threads together because we were scattered all over the place. Now we have one nice neat thread to all chat in!

I actually decided to have my wedding ceremony at a private beach in Pigeon Island and doing a full reception at 1461 restaurant which is right by the water. I am so exicted about it. Thanks for all your advice. Hope your plans are going well. I am SO jealous! I wanted 1461 to cater my wedding, but the morning I was going to confirm with them, another wedding booked. I was so upset because their food was EXACTLY what I wanted and Frederic was so good with communication. Quote: Originally Posted by vluv61109 Kristy, The flowers are beautiful. Nice pick... I having family from NY, CA, and also London. How much are you paying for the tickets? Did you book them already? Right now flights from JFK to St.Lucia is around $700-$780. I was hoping to get them under $600, but given with the 10% discount I don't think that will happen. My parents just booked their flights for $638 I think. That's including the discount. FI and I have multi-city itineries (NY to St Lucia to Punta Cana and back to NY) and that was around $860 with the discount. It's unfortunate that the flights are so expensive, but that's how it is everywhere. I just went ahead and booked because I doubt they're going to go down and I didn't want to worry about it anymore. Have you set up the discount with American yet?
  5. Most engagements aren't what was dreamed of. My FI didn't even get down on one knee. I was a sweaty mess from work, my hair was a disaster, I was wearing a sweatshirt and stained paints, we were in the pouring rain, and there was no big speech or anything. When I tell people our story though, I say that FI came down to the city to help me out with some overtime work. When we finished up, we walked out of the building and it was pouring. We still went to Rockfeller Center anyway as originally planned. While over looking the ice skating rink (yes there were people skating in the rain) from under the big tree, Chris surprised me by pulling out a beautiful diamond ring and asking me to marry him. When asked about the getting down on one knee, I simply say that he couldn't because there was a big puddle near by and because he didn't do that traditional gesture, we were about to have a special private moment in the middle of a crowded touristy area. It's all about perception. Take the positives out of your engagement and don't worry about it not being your dream engagement. Just be happy you're engaged to the man you want to marry!
  6. Woo hoo! Happy Birthday Glenda! I hope you stayed in bed with your hubby all day!
  7. My SIL said the same thing. She's due 7 months before my wedding now, so obviously it turned out not to be an issue. I was annoyed at first, but just let it go.
  8. I've moved twice since the last presidential election and had to fill out a new registration form since I changed counties. Don't just assume that everything is up to date. Take a minute to check it out. Thank you for posting this.
  9. These particular family members are not very adventurous eaters, so probably something along the "American" style would be best. My brother and SIL are pretty light on cash right now, so cost will definitely be a major factor. My dad's a New England guy, so I'm sure he'd like a place with some good ol' Boston baked beans. On a side note, FI and I are heading up the night before them, so I'm open to hearing about some great bars or a good place to grab dinner at like 9:00 since that's probably when we'll get there. Andrea, that was really sweet of you to contaact your dad. Thanks!
  10. My parents, brother, SIL, niece (2), FI, and I are heading up to Boston this weekend. I'm looking for an inexpensive family friendly place to eat dinner up there (no chains). We're staying in Newton but will be over by Fenway for most of the day on Saturday. Anyone have any suggestions?
  11. I like them in the order you posted with number 1 being my favorite.
  12. Yay! That's so exciting! I have one niece (2) and one nephew (turning 2 in one week), and one is due in October! I love my little mushies! FI has twin nieces (9), so I'll inherit them next year!
  13. Maura, I'm so excited for you! You're going to have so much fun in Cabo! Everything looks so put together.
  14. They turned out great! It's nice to see another May 2009 bride who has already sent out her invitations!
  15. Karen, are you guys bringing a grill or do you need something ready to eat?
  16. Is it really down to 10 days already? Wow! I love the stories you guys have been creating. So cute!
  17. Happy birthday Morgan! Maybe that's why I was dreaming about you.
  18. I was at a wedding where a GM fainted and fell off the "stage" at the church. It ended up be pretty funny, once we realized he was OK.
  19. I like the first pair best, but since you're only wearing rings and earrings, I think #2 would work best.
  20. Glenda, I'm waiting for your post here. You could add a bunch of things!
  21. My aunt and uncle are missionaries in Kenya and I know they have a terrible time accessing the internet. If you feel it's too much info for everyone (which I don't because I think the more info the better), then just send the ones with more info to the missionaries and the first two tickets to everyone else. They look great!
