Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the new program. I will be joining shortly and so far I really like what I have read about it. My SIL has lost 9 pounds in 3 weeks!

What's the Etiquette for this Situation?
Kristy! replied to BeachBridein11's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I have to be honest. There were certain people (my wedding party included) that I made sure could attend before we set our date. Based on what I'm hearing, it's sounding like you're not in that top priority group, so maybe you're not as close as you thought? I'm not trying to be mean, I just know that if someone was important enough to be a bridemaid in my wedding, you'd better believe I'd make sure the date was open for them. Sorry about this situation. -
Not sure when if you went on your honeymoon yet, but here are some suggestions. Restaurants: *The Edge has to to be one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. So delicious and sits right on Rodney Bay. *Rainforest Hideaway in Margot Bay is another great restaurant. You take a little boat to get to it and it has a great romantic feel *Jacques is Castries is where I had the dinner part of my reception. Super nice people, good food, and again, it sits right on the water. Activities: *Definitely go to the Jump-Up on Friday night in Gros Islet. It's fun to see the local and tourists partying together and we got some great street food. My favorite was some kind of chicken pocket and my group sold this woman out of them at the beginning of the night. I had some really yummy guava ice cream from the ice shop/ *Sulphur Springs isn't the most exciting thng, but you should definitely check it out once. There are a couple of cool waterfalls that you can go to near there and actually swim in them, but I can't remember the names right now. *One word...Catamaran! We went with Carnival and had a blast. I know there's another company called Mango Tango that my wedding coordinator recommended. *I missed out on zip-lining through the rainforest, but next time we go back I will definitely do it. Some of our wedding guests went and loved it. *I would skip the Botanical Gardens unless you're really into going to that. I recommend finding a cab driver that you really like and paying him to take you on a tour for a day. I did both an organized tour and a personal tour and liked the personal one better. They were both good though. St. Lucia is a beautiful, fun, safe island, so the most important thing to remember is that you want to get out of your all-inclusive resort and experience the island. Don't just hide out the whole time because you'll miss out on so much. If you already went on your honeymoon, I already know it was fabulous. If not, then have a blast!

Lauren was merely trying to let you know how things run around here. It's completely rude to call her pretentious when she's actually trying to help you out. To basically say that you don't have time to read what others have taken the time to post (particularly when they have answered your specific questions) is indicating that your time is more valuable than ours, which is quite insulting. For the record, Lauren has a career and is pregnant with her first child, so she has plenty on her plate. Funny how she can still navigate the forum correctly though.

Well deserved ladies. Congrats!

Wedding Leftovers - Must Go!
Kristy! replied to lil_miss_frogg's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
Oh, that's too bad. Hopefully things will work out. -
I completely understand where you're coming from. If one person is posting the same thing over and over again, that's actually SPAM and can result in a temp ban. Definitely report it if you see it happening. It's unfortunate that some people choose to not actively participate in order to reach 150 posts. It just frustrates the rest of us. As for your actual question, I'm sorry, I don't know the answer.

*The official St. Lucia Brides CHAT thread*
Kristy! replied to Jennifer's topic in The Islands Weddings
Who are you referring to here? -
Andi stole my B2B! For Mrs, I nominate AnnR Because she is such an awesome Mod.

You'd be amazed how differently each person navigates this forum. I've never hit the reply button. Â And I agree with Cougs about things getting redundant. Â Give it time, you'll get used to it. Â

I'd recommend reading all the rules before you do anything else. They're in place for a reason and it's easy to break one if you don't know them. Â Also, when you open a thread, take a look at the date of it in the left hand corner. There were a lot of comments from you this morning on threads that were 2, 3, 4 years old. Of course when an old thread is relevent, it's great to revive it and you should, but sometimes bumping a lot just to say something like "pretty colors" kind of frustrates people.

Wedding Leftovers - Must Go!
Kristy! replied to lil_miss_frogg's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
We haven't seen you around for a while. Did you post pics of your wedding? I'm sure we'd love to see them! -
Hey ladies. I won't be competing in BL, but just wanted to say good luck and stick with it! Remember there's a reason you're signing up for this competition. Â I used to drink a teaspoon of ACV straight just to get it over with. That's an option if you don't want to add it to your water bottle. Don't forget you can also cook with it (not sure if that makes it lose its effect) or just add it to your salad. Â May the best loser win!

I'm stuck!! What should I say? Add'l guests
Kristy! replied to JanineA's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Totally agree. Sounds like someone you won't want around anyway. I usually think for anyone traveling to a wedding, they should be able to bring a guest, but being that it's a lot of your college buddies, I don't see why a guest is needed. Do not cave because you will have to cave for everyone else. Â Also, what's with her saying that everyone should be allowed to bring AT LEAST one guest? Does she want to bring her parents too? -

am i being unreasonable?
Kristy! replied to simplnsweet's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Well said Julie. I'm in the group that says it probably isn't the best idea for him to propose the night before or the day of. I would definitely be annoyed if it happened on my wedding day because a little piece of me wanted to be selfish and have that day just about DH and me. The whole week though? Please, do whatever you want! No one proposed, but guess what, very few people danced at my wedding. I was really disappointed about that. The reason I bring that up is because things will not go exactly as you hope and plan, so get used to that now. People will not do exactly what you want and you will hit a ton of speedbumps along the way. Just focus on yourself and FI since you have no control over anyone else. Don't forget the reason for your wedding. -
Opinions wanted
Kristy! replied to jerzshortstuff's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Could it be possible that you just got a bad first impression of this girl? You said that you've only hung out once since you've been with FI, so I'm guessing you barely know her. I know the situation is weird, but maybe she hasn't been given a fair chance? Just putting a different perspective on things. -
Laser Eye Surgery - anyone's experiences?
Kristy! replied to Alyssa's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Carly, so happy to hear everythign went well! That's great!! -
Wow, thanks Erika. Seems like that's in the right price range as well. It's kind of cool looking for a place that costs the same that ours would probably sell for, yet it's an upgrade!
-
You just turned me off to The Highlands! We're not the fixer-upper type. Thank goodness I have you Erika! I want to get out there now and start looking around. It's funny how some areas are affordable to rent but not buy. Around here it often makes a lot more sense to buy than rent because it doesn't cost much more.
-
Erika, that sounds wonderful! I was just talking to a co-worker at lunch who is from Denver and she mentioned Stapleton and Lowery? I think. She also said don't write off living in the city because there are a lot of residential areas. Good to know. We'd probably look to buy a townhouse. I want to see grass around, not a ton of concrete. We tend to like newer, more modern architecture, but I also like a blending of the two. I keep thinking Andi lives in Aurora, not Arvada. Oops! Thanks for letting me know that about the airport, I didn't realize it was built farther. That's perfectly fine, just good to know. At home I have a little airport about 10 minutes away, but the major ones take like an hour and a half. With traffic, it can take much longer. That gets old, you know? So basically I need to set up camp somewhere and just get to exploring. Not to stalk you Erika, but it sounds like Stalpeton would be a good place to start. I'd also like to check out Wash. Park and The Highlands. My co-worker told me that Capital Hill is probably not what I'm looking for (this is before I read your response). You two definitely mentioned almost all the same areas though, so it makes me feel like I'm getting somewhere. Thank you SO much!

I'm going to bump this thread again. I have thought about this some more and have more of an idea of what I'm looking for. Please let me know if this sounds like any specific area. I'm hoping to fly out in October to look around, but will only have a couple of days there. I'm looking for something just outside of Denver. Chris and I are definitely becoming foodies, so an area with a lot of good restaurants is a must. Right now I have about a million chain restaurants around me and I hate it! I like an area that limits the amount of chains that can come in. Also, we like a wide variety of food. We're not big shoppers, but would like to have stuff within 15 minutes of where we are. I don't want a bunch of stores on top of me, but I don't want to be far removed from them either. I love farmers markets. Fresh local produce is the best! I'm not sure how far out the airport is, but I would prefer to have it within a half hour, 45minutes at the most. If we move there, we would have to fly to see every one of our family members. We do not plan on having kids, so we're not concerned with moving into the best school district or having tons of kid-friendly things in the area. We're not really into kids at all actually, but we understand that being in our late 20's/early 30's, that just comes with the territory. We want to be around a lot of people our age. I know there's more I wanted to post, but that's all I can think of right now.

Hey ladies! I wanted to chime in since we spent most of our honeymoon at Excellence after we left St. Lucia. For the rooms, I will say I was a little disappointed, but don't let it get you down. The bed was rock hard and I have back problems, so this definitely affected me. There was a little mold on our mirror and the jacuzzi wasn't cleaned properly. These are only minor things when you look at the whole grand scheme of things, but it's better to expect it going in. We didn't have a musty smell at all. Oh, another thing is that we booked an oceanview room and really couldn't see the ocean. We were in building 3. I believe the room number was 3008. All that being said, the resort was wonderful overall. I wouldn't call it a 4 1/2 star, but it really was a nice place to honeymoon. We met a couple who got married while we were there and still keep in touch with them. They persuaded the front desk to upgrade their room to the Imperial Suite and it was absolutely gorgeous. I recommend trying for that. The staff is great and definitely bring bug spray! You won't need it all the time, but you'll be happy you have it when you do. Occassionally the staff will have it and offer to spray it for you. For those getting married this summer, have fun and drink a coco loco for me. Nothing better than carrying your drink around in a big coconut!
