  1. Stick with the gel. Soooo much better than acrylic. I had to get mine done 8 days before my wedding and they held up fine. You'll love them.
  2. Thanks for the info! I knew they had announced they would start flying there in October, but I didn't know the details. I give myself a tiny bit of credit for this. I e-mailed Jet Blue a while ago suggesting they fly to St. Lucia. I told them that American has really cornered the market on a lot of the little Caribbean islands. OK, I probably had nothing to do with their decision, but it makes me feel good. =)
  3. Thank you so much, Mo! It's super important to know the positives and negatives of a job and I really appreciate you taking the time to educate us. Fortunately a lot of what you said isn't too far off from what I was thinking. The main thing I didn't think about was waiting so long to get paid. That's really good to know as I try to put a plan together for the next year or two. Would you recommend taking a course at a community college or online before applying to agencies or no? Thanks again!

I just about flipped. She can't sew!!! What the F was she thinking??!! Haha, I remember this Rachel. Didn't she want to duct tape it or something?
  5. This is how DH's friends were with his bachelor party. I felt so bad for him. Hopefully things turn out better than you're expecting!
  6. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! Andi, so awesome! I love it I love it I love it! Don't do this to me though, it's such a tease. Makes me want mine SO much more now! By the way, I totally agree with Andi. Kristi and Paul are so awesome! I HIGHLY recommend them. They totally rock!
  7. I haven't yet. I figured she was quite busy and decided to see if any TAs on here would respond to this thread first. If I don't hear from anyone in a few days, I'll definitely send her a PM. It's funny how many girls on here decide to go into their own business after they get married. It is really inspirational! Thanks for the words of encouragement Alyssa!
  8. So whether we like to admit it or not, we all have had at least one bridezilla moment. What was yours? Mine was when I looked in the mirror and saw hot pink eyeshadow up to my eyebrows and I was supposed to have already left to get to the ceremony site. I kept saying, no, no, it must be lighter. It took 3 tries to lighten it up to an acceptable color. I just kept looking at clock and tried not to freak out, but it was pretty obvious that I ready to swing the make-up artist around by her hair and launch her out the window. It was awful! Your turn!
  9. I'm so sorry to hear about your FFIL. We lost DH's father while we were engaged, so I completely understand where you're coming from right now. You're not going to have a whole lot of wedding motivation for about a month, but I really recommend that you do not cancel your wedding. The family needs something happy to look forward to. And don't be concerned about it making the wedding a sad event because it won't. DH wrote a poem for his dad and his aunt read it and then gave a toast to his father and my grandmther (who also passed away while we were engaged) which gave us a great way to celebrate their memories. Obviously many of used cried, but within a few minutes, everyone was fine again. As for your FI, all I can say is just be there for him. There will be lots of hugs. I told DH that I will be there for him to cry on whether it's in 10 minutes or 10 years. The whole thing is awful and sad, but in the end, you will be stronger as a couple and most likely closer with his family. Please PM me if you need to talk.
  10. I am hoping the TAs on this forum can help me out. I have had a strong interest in becoming a TA for quite some time, but have never acted on it. Now I'm realizing that I should stop ignoring what I really want to do and figure out how to make it happen. Unfortunately, I don't know the first thing about getting into the business. I would like to one day own my own business, but would like to start off working for someone to get the proper training and experience. So what do the TAs recommend? Are there courses I should take? I'm so lost. TIA!
  11. I haven't nailed down the apps yet but other than that, here's our menu: Stuffed burgers (choice of bleu cheese, cheddar jalapeno, or brie) Homemade onion rings Potato salad Grilled corn on the cob Berry trifle I'm thinking bruschetta and some kind of dip for appetizers. I don't want to go crazy, there's only 4 or 6 adults who are going to be there.
  12. You must be so excited! That's awesome!

You can do a day tour that takes you by catamaran down to Soufriere which has many of the island's natural tourist sites (drive-in volcano, botanical gardens, Diamond waterfalls). There's also ziplining through the rainforest. You should definitely get to Pigeon island which is right next to Sandals. There's old fort ruins and hiking with some cool views. I know you're staying at an AI, but you should not miss dinner at The Edge. Phenomenal! Also, on Friday nights you should check out the Jump-Up in Gros Islet (not far from where you're staying). There's great music, food, dancing, and the best part is that it's locals and tourists. They're all celebrating the arrival of the weekend. I got some guava ice cream while I was there that was so yummy. It only cost like $1. Hope that helps a little!

  15. Tuesday June 30th, 9:41am - Looking for flights to Columbus, OH and wondering why they're over $250. Grrr...
  16. It does suck, but at least we didn't take too many pictures. I learned a big lesson though! You must be getting super excited. Not long now until you're in paradise!
  17. Monday, June 29th, 3:31pm - Sitting at my desk at work, trying not to freak out because a roach just crawled over my foot...TWICE!
  18. I flew into that airport in 2007. So easy. Only small planes can land there so there aren't too many people who go through that airport. I don't remember how long it took to get through customs, but it was pretty quick. The pain the butt one is San Juan. Obviously you won't have to deal with that until you return home, but they are super thorough. Also, be really careful with your luggage. My camera was stolen out of my bag back in '07 (yes, I know I was stupid for putting it in checked luggage) and DH's TSA-approved lock was cut off his bag with no notice of search when we went through there on our way to Punta Cana last month. Not trying to scare you, just giving you a heads up. It is the only airport we've ever had problems with.
