  1. Sorry I didn't see your post before. It got buried! I have never been to Windjammer, but have heard wonderful things about it. We got married through a private villa, so I'm thinking that is something totally different than what' you're looking for. Had we done a resort, I would've probably chosen Windjammer though. For photographers, we were going to hire Ray from Karay Media Karay Media Productions - Wedding Photography in St. Lucia The reason we didn't was because we won our photography and videography from BDW (KLK Photography and Blue Sky Videos)! Many girls have gone through Awesome Caribbean Weddings to plan their big day. It might not hurt to check them out. I highly recommend looking into getting married on Pigeon Island. Simply gorgeous and many great spots for pictures. I hope this helped at least a little bit. Also, check out the Official St. Lucia Brides thread.
  2. She's right, we paid the fee as well. No problems at all. As for cost, I think we spent about $15,000. We didn't do an AI resort though, so it could definitely be less because we covered a lot of meals and transportation for our guests.
  3. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I never thought I'd be one of the ones to be all grumpy afterwards! By the way Andi, your siggy pic makes me smile.
  4. These are great! I love the one where you're looking to the side and he's totally staring at your cleavage. Classic!
  5. I'd go with the closer church. Almost 2 hours on a van is long trip, especially when you're dressed up.
  6. We got married the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. I originally wanted Sunday, but they don't do weddings on Sundays in St. Lucia. Many guests went Thursday-Monday.
  7. You should put up a mortgage registry now. That would really get her going! I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. I hate that you're dealing with this. I don't know what the right thing to do is, so I don't have any advice, but feel free to keep venting.
  8. We didn't consider a resort at all! We went the private villa route, so obviously not AI. Our reasons: *We wanted a place where only our guest would be, no outside people. *The rental came with 4 cooks and a wedding coordinator who was fabulous! *We saved a ton on food and drinks because we purchased stuff from the grocery store and the cooks made it. (Obviously we didn't do this for the wedding!) If people wanted to go out to eat, they were free to do that. *AI didn't make sense for our group because there were several non-drinkers. *No vendor fees! *I had a say in everything. There was a small wedding package, but I wasn't tied to that by any means. I did not want a cookie cutter wedding. *Just like Ayita, we had a big issue with guests paying for their own wedding meal. Had we gone with AI it obviously wouldn't been more convenient and easier to plan, but I'm so happy we went the route we did. And TA Jennifer is right, transportation can be a killer. Luckily I had been to St. Lucia before and knew what to budget for it. Also, St. Lucia is such a beautiful, wonderful, friendly island. By staying at an AI the whole time (like I pretty much did the first time I visited there), I would miss out on some of the best meals I've ever had and totally falling in love with the island's charm and true beauty.
  9. Hey Miranda. We did this for our wedding. I put my MOH in charge of it and it was a big hit. She had a list of all the guests and checked off as she went along. Obviously that's easier with a DW having 30 guests as opposed to a large AHR. Anyway, I posted my slideshow the other day and some of the guestbook pics are on there. We had our photog take the pics, but I'm sure a digital camera would be fine. Oh, and everyone seemed to ignore the 5 words or less rule we put on there. Oh well!
  10. I believe I read that Fox News aired it. Crazy!
  11. I've heard many times about brides and grooms feeling depressed after their wedding. Their time as fiancees is full of activity and excitement and they're used to having all the attention on them. I have to say, I'm feeling it. First let me say that I in no way regret or have any doubts about marrying DH. I am super happy about that. But I feel like everything else in my life sucks. The job I haven't been too crazy about I now totally hate. I want to do a career change, but am struggling with figuring it all out. I feel like my life is boring. All I can think about is running away to an island! It's just crazy! I wish I could just snap out of this! Has anyone else dealt with this? Oh, and this isn't all because I'm missing wedding planning. I'm so over that. (Although I will say that getting wedding pics and a video this week have given me a pick me up.) This is so frustrating!
  12. YAY!!!! I can't wait! Top Chef Masters just isn't cutting it for me.
  13. Ugh, so annoying! Total thread hi-jack, but Diane, you look just like my best friend Diane. That's kind of freaky.
  14. Honestly, a good number of people didn't dance at my wedding and we only had 30guests. A few did and I should've just focused on them because they were having a great time. Here's my advice. Do NOT let non-dancers get you down. I burst into tears and couldn't stop for quite some time. (They're not kidding when they say your emotions can get the best of you that day.) I feel like I missed half of the reception because of it and that's my biggest regret. Just worry about yourself and FI and you'll be fine. If people don't dance, they're the ones missing out on the fun, not you.
  15. I'm annoyed that networks have broadcasted it. That's so unfair to her!
  16. DH and I enjoy watching it together. I'm starting to think a lot of stuff is staged though. I'm not buying the way the show ended last night. But it's good entertainment! I think that one exec. chef (Kevin?) is going to be a good competitor as well as the girl who kept telling her teammate that the chicken was raw. That Lovely chick is already annoying me! Oh, and I think that guy Van is on steroids. There's my take on things!
  17. Oh my goodness, that's awful! I hope things work out for you. Please keep us posted.
  18. I just realized that link doesn't go straight to the video. If anyone is having trouble, just click on "Movie Gallery" then "Bridal & Day after."
  19. So I'm not sure if I'm in love with Kristi Klemens or her FI Paul Bennett more, but they are seriously making me happy this week! Here is my TTD video that Paul just sent me this morning. It's so much fun, I love it! When you click on the link, mine should start loading up right away. (Sorry Andi, it's not your video that does this anymore!) So exciting!!!! I can't wait to see the rest of the guestbook comments. I had no idea she was going to put them in there, but it was perfect! So happy!!!!!
