Personalized cocktail mixes?
Mrs. Martin replied to animaldoc's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I bought my cocktail mix packets through weddingchannel.com, but there is a minumum purchase of 30. However, I just saw today they are on sale for .99 each on that site! I've never seen them that cheap! I think most places will have a minumum order. -
Thanks to everyone that has given feedback! So, I was thinking because my hair will be in a very loose, messy looking side bun with a flower for the ceremony, I can just attempt to duplicate it myself (we'll see how well that goes!) for the TTD session. Once I start getting in the water, I'll just get rid of the flower and bobby pins and just let it loose so I can get pics with my hair both up and down. My makeup will be minimal for sure because I don't really wear any as it is.

I don't think my hair would be pretty by then!

I know this thread can go on the Wedding Attire section as well, but I figured I would place it here since it has to do with TTD pics. Let me know if it should be moved!!! I had a question for brides planning or that had already done TTD pics. I noticed a few brides actually duplicate their hair style and makeup from the day of the wedding to take TTD pics. I was debating on whether doing the same since my hair will be up for the wedding, but I don't want to spend the $$ on getting it done again just to get it wet. I do like the look of it though because it looks like you literally just got married and then decided to frolic around in the sand and ocean. I also think a more natural look (meaning less makeup and hair down) would look great because then the only really dramatic part of the TTD pic would be the wedding dress. So, I'm torn between what look I want to have! I was just wondering what most of you are doing or already did for your TTD pics!?!

Anyway, I'm sure I will have more questions for you. I hope you don't mind! I don't mind the questions, I'm glad to help!! To be really honest, the main reason I chose this hotel from the rest is because when my FI and I stayed there last year, we were so impressed with the hotel and their service. We wanted to make sure that if our guests were going to be spending $$ on staying at a hotel, that they will be getting their $$'s worth. Although there are pleny of other beautiful hotels in Cancun, it was important to us to be able to trust the hotel on what it actually looked like beside pics online, what the food tasted like, the location (which is walking distance from all the bars/clubs) and the customer service they had and they truely met all those expections. To answer your question,we are getting married at the gazebo and it overlooks the ocean (I believe I added a pic of it previously). Feel free to ask anything else...

Regarding Del Sol Photography, yes their work is excellent!!! I couldn't afford to hire Sol or Matt, but their associate Vincent was in my budget, so we hired him. Matt and Sol both edit the pictures, so no matter what the "Del Sol signature" quality is there! I'm sooo excited to work with Vincent and I know he's going to do an excellent job as well!!

Funny you mention that because I was just thinking about how I will send them. They came with regular envelopes and I was told they will be fine to send as is. However, I'm afraid that they will arrive torn or bent. They don't feel as fragile as they look, but I'm still not sure if I want to take the chance!

For the people who read my previous post about not being able to make my own invitations anymore, you all know I was so bummed out about it. So, I ordered these hand-painted, water colored, organic invitions from Designs by Lenila and they came out great! I love them! The picture does not do them justice because the lighting is bad here and I took the picture from my phone. I will try posting a better pic tonight.

I'm so in love with the 1st dress! I have been looking for a dress that style to take to Vegas for my bachelorette party weekend. Is that dress from BCBG or BEBE? I was actually planning on going to BEBE today during my lunch break, so hopefully if that is where you got it I will be able to find it! Good job on your dresses!!

We ordered my dress!!!

Your dress is STUNNING! That's the best present she could have given you!!!! -
Hi all, Well, I wasn't planning on wearing a garter belt because I am not fond of the whole garter tossing ritual. However, I happen to see this garter belt last night and I knew I had to buy it since my FI is a police officer. I think he will crack up at it!! Plus, it's my something blue!! I'm still not tossing it though!

Ok, so am I the only one having mini panic attacks about September coming here so fast?! I feel like I have tons to do but really can't until I finalize my guest count. I'm suppose to be getting my invitations next week and I asked for an RSVP by June 21st. I just feel like that is so close to the wedding date and I won't have enough time to get everything completed in time.

Everything seems to be Dreams or El dorado..so I was a little worried that the Riu's in Cancun werent good! How many days are your guests staying? Are you two staying longer and honeymooning? What is a rough price that your guest each have to pay we were quoted about $880 for 4 day 3 nights at the Riu Cancun and $990 for 4 day 3 night at the Riu Palace. Is that true that there is unlimited golfing at the Riu Palace...my fiance is sold on the Riu Palace if there is...MEN!! I felt the same way you did! I had already booked our wedding at Riu before I joined the forum and I couldn't find any other Riu brides in Cancun. I was starting to get worried! But like I said, my FI and I went there last year and were very impressed with the hotel and the staff. One thing you may want to consider when finalizing the hotel is whether you are going to have children attend your wedding. Riu Palace is more of an adult hotel (they do allow kids though) and Riu Cancun is more child friendly (they have a playground and babysitting). Most of my guests are staying 6 days/5 nights and the average $ is about $900. My FI and I are staying for 2 weeks. I'm sure the prices will vary from departure locations. We are all leaving from LAX (in LA) and $$ tend to be less expensive because it is a large and busy airport. I'm not sure about the golfing, though. You may want to email them and ask. Have you checked out what their website stated about golf? To be honest, we drank, ate, drank some more, and went out at night the entire time we were there. I didn't really take advantage of the sports or other amenities they had to offer. Here are more pics.. Your room has bottles that are replaced every other day, plus you have a fridge full of beer and drinks to mix with. View from our room... Riu Palace at night..

I just met with a TA for the first time last week and Riu seemed to be the most affordable. We are looking to get married in Oct 09, so we figure the earlier the planning the better price. If there is any info you can share with me that would be great!! Hope you are enjoying your weekend!! Hi! Regarding vendors, I hired an outside photographer and videographer. There are no charges from the hotel for these outside vendors, however I do need to purchase day passes for them since it is an all-inclusive resort. I'm not sure about DJ's though, I need to email them and ask. For Riu Palace, they have 3 different sites to choose from: beach, gazebo, and terrace. We chose the gazebo. It's right next to the pool, which I'm not that excited about, but it has a great view of the ocean (I attached a pic). And yes, they offer civil and religious ceremonies only (I think that's what all the resorts offer). And for your last question, no, we didn't go through a TA. We shopped around for $$ and we got a much better deal just purchasing our vacation package from travelocity.com. Our guests didn't seem to mind it either, I provided them with enough info that they purchased their packages online with no problems. Jenny helped me with ??'s I had with these resorts also and had great pics, so hopefully you get all the info you need to start planning!! Here are some pics from Riu Palace Las Americas from my vacation: This is the gazebo's view

What Riu are you reffering to? I am getting married this September at Riu Palace Las Americas which is located next Riu Cancun (which may be the one you are talking about). I visited that hotel shortly, it looked very nice. We only walked through to go to the club there. We stayed at the hotel we are getting married in; it is beautiful. Let me know what info you are looking for and I will try to help you as much as possible

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I'm thinking I will probably use some of the paper and ribbon for my "welcome letters." And yes, I will take the sample invitation with me for some pictures!! Quote: Originally Posted by BeckyN bummer! those look really cute. but your right... would probably take a lot of time! do you have a pic of the ones you are ordering are they simialr at all? No, the new invitations don't look like the ones my mom and I made. They still go with the whole beach/starfish theme and they were in my budget. Below is a pic of the invitations I'm ordering, except the hand-torn mulberry paper will be tan and there will be a raffia ribbon instead of the one shown. Also, the print will be in sepia instead of the color shown to coordinate with my wedding colors.

I'm sad to say that after already purchasing the paper from the print shop, sinamy ribbon, and other supplies, my mom and I are no longer going to be making my wedding invitations! We initially were planning on making 30-40 invitations, sending them to people who were attending or were still not sure. But one thing let to another and my FI wanted to invite more people and send invitations to some family members even though they had already told us they were not going. So, the number of invitations rose to almost 80. 1, we didn't purchase enough supplies for that amount and 2, with my work schedule and finals coming up it was going to be difficult for my mom and I to get together and work on creating them. We made one invitation as a sample which I have attached below. It's funny, I wasn't too fond of it when we made it and now that I'm not making them I'm sad about not having those invitations I'm going to place an order for invitations from Designs by Lenila. I haven't heard anyone else on this forum speak about this site, so I hope they come out well!

If it wasn't for my mom buying my OOT bags and stuffers, I wouldn't have them yet either. She was concerned that by the time we had to buy them, they wouldn't be in stock or the prices would hike up (because I would probably have purchased them during the peak of wedding season). We kind of already had an idea on the number of people that were going, so we just purchased a little over that number just to be safe. I requested an RSVP by June 30th, so I'm hoping I don't go over the number expected!
