Angel- Funny thing you mentioned sour cream. I'm obsessed with it right now and yesterday I was just dipping my salty chips in to some... yum!! Since you and I have been having the same symptoms, I agree, you should just tell me what to look forward to next (it better not be anything bad )! I had my 12 week appt this morning and everything went well! I finally got to see a baby and not just a little peanut-looking picture on the ultra-sound. I started to cry; it was wonderful to see my baby! He/She was soooo active; the little arms just kept waiving around. It made it difficult to get a good pic, but here's the clearest one I get: The pic makes it seem like the baby has extra long arms, but it's just that he/she kept moving them...too cute!

I have to agree with the other girls and say, IMO, I don't think you are ever 100% ready. I still don't think I'm 100% ready, but you deal with what comes your way. My DH really wanted to start trying as soon as we got married. I, on the other hand, wanted to wait a bit because I was a little scared about the whole thing. We started trying but I didn't think I would get pregnant right away and I would have plenty of time to be preggo-free. Well, my DH and I had been arguing for a few days and when we "made up", we made a baby! I had no idea I was even ovulating at the time. So, need-to-say, even though the baby was planned, some how I was still shocked at the fact that I got pregnant and I was so scared. I'm still scared, but now it's an exciting scared because everything is so new to me. So, I say go for it if you two want to! All your worries and concerns won't even match the excitement you will have about being pregnant.

But yes, I have toast around 8:30/9:00 and that usually makes my tummy okay for bed. Good luck!!! I eat healthy, but not too healthy. I have a pretty good balance of fats, carbs, and protein in my system. Don't get me wrong, now that I'm pregnant I do indulge in things that I wouldn't usually have often, but my stomach reacts the same way no matter what I eat. And yes, I lovvvve potato chips right now too. I was never one for salty foods and now I love chips and salsa with lots of salt... yum! As for you being worried about the baby because you're going to bed hungry, that's a very good Mommy instinct but it's unlikely that you are hurting the baby especially if you are keeping down all those other meals throughout the day (or at least most of them). I was hospitalized in the beginning of my pregnancy for most of the month of July due to Hyperemesis and dehydration. I could not hold down anything not even crackers or any liquids any time of day. I did not eat solid foods for weeks. I had to have a picc line inserted into my arm and up and over to my chest and had IV fluids, vitamins, and nutrients pumped through that for 6 weeks. I lost 18 pounds. I don't mean to ramble about me because that part of pregnancy is done and over with (Thank God!) but my point is the docs kept telling me the baby was okay and the baby's measurements have been on target and I have carried full term. They said the baby is like a parasite and takes any stored nutrients from me and they assured me he would be okay. So try not to worry I'm sure you going to bed hungry is hurting you way more than baby. Still hope you find something that works though!!! Ahh, you made me feel so much better right now about the baby's health. I was worried that because of my lack of food the baby would have some long-term affect and I would feel horrible! I've been thinking about it a lot more lately because everytime I gag, even if I don't throw up, my stomach hurts after, so I keep thinking I was hurting the baby that way too. I can't believe that happen to you during your pregnancy; I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm glad everything's better now. It's amazing how everyone's body reacts so differently with pregnancy!

Thanks, I'll try that today. Regarding the vitamins, I don't think that's causing it because I've been taking these prenatal vitamins for almost a year and I just started getting the nauseau a fews ago. I don't know what it is! But, I'm the way you are about meat right now. I've been avoiding the meat counter at the grocery store because I don't even want to look at it! I don't want to see or smell raw chicken either, yuck!

I call myself a hobbit... if you google the wikipedia definition and read how many times a day they eat, you'll understand! So try to eat every two hours, small healthy meals, and see if that helps. It was really hard for me to do this since I'm used to eating 2-3 times a day and ONLY when I'm hungry, but honestly it has helped so much. So, here's the funny thing- I already do eat every 2-3 hours with small portions (and what I eat is healthy). I know most people don't do that on a regular basis, but I've been eating this way for over 6 years now so I thought my eating habits for sure would prevent morning sickness! But nooooo! I know that's why I am so hungry at night because lately my last food consumption has been around 5 or 6, so I'm really hungry before I go to bed. I'm going to try at least having some toast tonight before I go to bed and see if that makes me feel less hungry. I just feel like I'm hurting the baby

Congrats on your pregnancy Jenn! I felt really tired too in the beginning, so good luck with that!! I have a question for you all- The last 2-3 weeks I finally started to get morning sickness (i think that's what i have). It's all day especially in the evening/night time. I'm nauseous all day and gag a lot; sometimes I throw up a bit (but never my entire meal). Since I feel worse at night, it's been hard for me to eat late so I go to bed sometimes with my stomach growling. But, if I eat I know I'm just going to be sick. But, I feel like a really bad mom because my stomach is growling and I'm not eating anything. I have just felt so gross lately that most things I try to eat, just make me feel worse. So, I'm just curious, am I hurting my baby by going hungry at night? I try eating crackers, but I'm so over them and they don't help me all the time. I have my 12 week appt tomorrow, so I'll confirm with the doc then. I've just been stressed out about this all weekend because my nausea doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Sorry just starting to think of songs now and struggling to decide I didn't use the music they offered (which was a CD) because we hired the mariachi to play. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to bring your own CD to use since they would already be using a CD player if you used their music. You can probably only get one song in as you're walking down the aisle and one more as you walk down together as husband and wife. We had more than two songs though because we had the mariachi playing for 15 minutes before the ceremony started. To be honest, I was so nervous I don't even remember hearing the mariachi play. I had no idea what the song I walked down to until I saw my wedding video. So, try not to stress about the music too much I know, I know, easier said than done!

September Wedding
Mrs. Martin replied to cbbt1985's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I got married in Cancun this September and did a lot of traveling back and forth to the RM. I was there for two weeks. The first week I was there it never rained and the sky and weather were amazing. Plus, that was the week I got married and I was sooo happy with the climate! Once the second week rolled around, which was late September by then, it rained at least an hour each day. Some days, it rained on and off all day, but that never stopped us from hanging out in the pool or anything. Hope this helps! -
Waxing or shaving before labor?! This never even crossed my mind?! I'm glad you girls brought it up! I have never waxed in my life and I don't think I want to try it either. However, I can't imagine shaving will be easy once I'm full term, so I'm not sure what I will be doing. One more thing to think about....

Danielle, I am so sorry to hear what happen. If you need ANYTHING, you know we are all here for support! Regarding time paid during maternity leave, my company doesn't pay during my leave, but in the state of CA I can get up to 12 weeks disability which pays only 55%-60% of what I currently make. So, that's better than nothing! I also read (not sure what it's called) but I can take up to 4 weeks off before the baby comes with full pay. I have to read more into it, but if I can do that I'm going to take full advantage of it.

Ok, so I'm super ashamed to admit this since my family is from Mexico and we eat very traditional Mexican food, but I have never made beans (frijoles). Any way, I was told I can make them in a slow cooker, but I'm not sure how much water I would need or even how many cups of beans I would need. I'm making enough beans to feed about 12 people (it's only a side dish, so I don't need too much). Does any one have a suggestion of how many cups to use? Now, do I still need to soak the beans the night before? And my last question, if I use my slow cooker to make them how many cups of water should I use? I'm making these tomorrow night, so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Kelly, You must be so relieved now that you got your results back! We've been getting calls from my docs office offering genetic counseling. My DH little brother has down syndrome and the nurses feel it would benefit us to speak to someone about the risks and possibilies of us having a child with it as well. I'm not sure how I feel about going to counseling and stress myself out before I even get tested. I just feel that I want to take it day by day. If my test comes out positive, I'll deal with it then and begin the genetic couseling. But for right now, we opted not to go to the counseling until we find out the results. I'm very nervous about taking the test! How soon did you get your results?

Hi Danielle, Same exact thing happen to me. I had to go in to the doc very early when I first found out I was pregnant because I had some bleeding. According to the first day of my last period, I was expected to be around 4-5 weeks. But, when they did the ultrasound, they were unable to see the sac. All they said was that my uterus walls were getting thicker, so that I was probably only 2 1/2 weeks. My period is usually every 30-34 days, so that was one of the reasons I wasn't on schedule according to their charts. They had my HcG levels checked every other day for a week and they continued to rise. Now on my last ultrasound, they measured the baby and at the time, I was 8 weeks. So somehow my body caught up and I'm on schedule with my EDD and size of the baby. So, don't worry about it, it's very routine what they are doing to you. Good luck and let us know the HcG results when you find out.

My bestfriend craved ice when she was pregnant and I've heard of other people doing the same. Actually, when your in labor, that's what they prefer to give you, not water but ice. My coworker also craves ice, she's not pregnant but has low iron so at your next doctors appt I would just run that past your doctor. Again, I believe craving ice is completely normal when your pregnant so don't let the comment about my coworker scare you I just want to make sure your crossing your t's and dotting your i's. As far as the sex thing, you don't have to worry about it harming the baby, your baby will be just fine. I do remember, I think in my second trimester, you'll want sex all the time. When your third trimester comes around, especially towards the end, it will become a little uncomfortable. Someone else at work told me that when your iron is low, you crave ice. I actually do have low iron, so along with my prenantal vitamin I take an additional iron supplement. But, like Angel posted before, I'm craving not only ice, but very cold drinks. But, that probably explains the ice cravings. We'll just have to see how much more my teeth can take! I read a few books where it said that your sex drive will rise in the 2nd trimester too, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping that's true! I'm almost done with my first trimester, so we'll see what happens Thanks for the insight! I'm the only one of my friends that has ever been pregnant, so everyone's input here has been so helpful because I feel so confused sometimes!

Hi everyone! I have a question for all of you- Did you ever get craving for ice? I'm obsessed with chewing on ice right now! But, my teeth are starting to hurt and I can't seem to stop chewing. Is this normal? Also, kind of a personal question- Did any of you NOT want to have sex during your first trimester? I've been scared to because I keep thinking I'm going to hurt the baby. We finally had sex last night for the first time since I found out I was pregnant and it wasn't comfortable for me and I couldn't really get into it. The whole time I kept thinking about the baby. How did you all feel about it?

The year before when I first went, the tide wasn't as high and very easy to stand on, so you shouldn't have a problem taking pics in your dress there as long as the water isn't covering them.

Angel- your u/s pics are sooo cute! I can't wait to be able to see my baby's profile instead of just a little lima bean! I hope the rest of you preggos are doing well! I had my 8 week appt last week and it went well. My doc didn't do much other than ask me some questions and then she did an u/s with that probe thing again (i'm really starting to hate that thing, when will they do an u/s just over my belly?!). Last time we were able to see the heart beating (at 6 weeks) and this time we were actually able to hear it and it was really special because my mom was with me and she was just amazed by it all. So, everything is good so far. I'm starting to get a little pouch and I'm thinking it's still too early, right? However, when they checked my weight, I have gained exactly 2 pounds from the time I was about 4 weeks until now. I can for sure see a difference especially because my jeans are starting to feel very uncomfortable.

So, if you have any outside guests attending your wedding, you will have to pay $75 pp for day passes and you can purchase those ahead of time when you meet your WC. The passes will be available to your guests the day of the wedding at the front desk before they enter the wedding area. I hope this helps! Good luck with the rest of your planning!

Happy New Year, what is your drink of choice?
Mrs. Martin replied to MsShelley's topic in Random Thoughts
My drink of choice for New Year's Eve (at least the last few years) has been vodka and Monster or vodka and Gatorade. My DH and I usually go out camping and ride our toys the New Year's week, so Gatorade and Monster is what we have readily available and it tastes gooood! However, since I'm preggo this year, I will be stuck in my RV unable to ride this trip and not drinking a darn thing but water Have plenty of drinks for me ladies and be safe tonight!
