Fabulous Choice! -
Thanks everyone!! I also lost 15lbs during the training process!!! Now the goal is to do a FULL Marathon before we get married next year in June!!!
-
So, after 6 months of sweating, preparing, & running… I accomplished the goal I set for myself!! I FINISHED MY FIRST HALF MARATHON!!! AND I DID IT IN LESS THAN 3 HOURS. For anyone that run long distances, I know that is quite slow, many would say I probably walked most of it… to that I say, I only walked about 1/3 of it (due to a horrible side stitch). It was part of the Ottawa Race weekend, along with 34 000 other runners, 9000 of which were running the half with me. I ran the 21.2 km (13.1 miles) course that took me between the beautiful province of Quebec and Ontario. I was fortunate enough to have a great running buddy tag along for the ride. He had previously completed another half marathon in 1hr45. So to him, this run must have been turtle speed. Nonetheless he stayed with me the entire way, through my walking, complaining, moaning, and dare I say it, B*tching!!! But we had a great time – at least I did! He was a great companion, we talked the entire way! The weather was phenomenal a gorgeous 23C outside with a nice wind. The course took us over 2 bridges and some wonderful scenery; past the Canadian Parliament buildings, the Supreme Court of Canada, the fabulous Rideau Canal, the museum of civilizations, National Gallery of Canada. The tulips and lilacs were also in full bloom, so we didn’t even notice that we smelled like B.O.! The finish line came eventually, and I told my buddy to sprint ahead and he took off like a hornet!! We finished with 30seconds apart. I had originally ran the course 2 weeks ago and it took 3hr and 6 minutes. So I was hoping for a sub-3 hour finish. I DID IT IN 2HR54!!!! My medal looks amazing on my wall! And I am definitely looking forward to my next one!! It was a wonderful run!! The type that make you want to encourage everyone to get out there and try the sport!! So set your goal & GET 'ER DONE!!

What a great time!! My parents were amazin! My future sister-in-law was awesome in the kitchen!! Almost all the guests arrived on time. The food was amazing!! Everyone one was in a socializing mood, very casual. The only thing that didn't go as planned was the weather. We had bought these amazing Tiki torches for our Mexican Fiesta, and we didn't get to go outside. Oh well! I tried to upload pictures. It doesn't seem to work...

It was actually worded in French. At the beginning of the invite it says: IT has been 9 years of tender moments and love. We have decided to celebrate our love in grand style.... (details of the ceremony)...a nuptual wishing well will be available for your convenience during the reception. Rest assured that your presence and your generosity will be great appreciated. That is basically what it says. I think it could be a cultural thing. What is tack y to some, may not be tacky to others. I am attending a lebanese wedding this summer, and the bride only register a few gifts for her side of the guests (as they are french-english canadians). And the grooms side of the family just expects (and this is understood) to give money.

That is amazing news!! Cognrats!! -
So I get this beautiful wedding invitation in the mail yesterday, for a person that I will refer to as Friend X. They have been together for over 7 years, so it is about time!! The invite is beautifully scripted. The couple is relatively well established, bought a condo last year, both sets of parents are well off, etc. Yet, on their invite they indicate that a wishing well will be available and all gifts will be greatly enjoyed and appreciated. I am wondering is it ok to ask for money, if they have been together this long?? My first instinct is NO! For the following reasons: a) they make/have more money than me it is tacky c) they just bought a condo, there has got to be something they need! - they could have registered their honeymoon for Pete' sake! So am I wrong to be annoyed?

Another Dreams Tulum Bride!!!!! Yay!!!

I am so sorry. I am not one for strict etiquette, so my next question would be, can you demote her? Is there someone else that has ben helping you more, and is pumped for your wedding? If your current MOH does end up going, you could ask her to do a reading, or a speach and be the legal witness.... And most of all, don't let her ruin your day!
-
Congrats on all you have accomplished.
-
Wow! My MOH lives 10 hours away so I know that communicating over the phone is not the easiest. Her and I agreed early on that I would be picking the color of the bridesmaid dresses, and as long as she respected that, I would have no problem with whatever she wore. She also has great taste. Perhaps you could agree to the same type of arrangement. Or perhaps, if money is really tight, you could buy her the dress as a gift. I would offer some sort of compromise, just so that you have a stress free wedding and keep your friendship in tact. Hope this helps!

Excursion vs. OOT bags

I'm not familiar with DR, but I found cheaper excursion options for my guests in RM. I'm chartering a van & taking them to the ruins. It's less than $15 per person for the van & admission into the ruins. Maybe you can find something like that in your area. Another idea I had was to take everyone to a great lagoon for snorkeling & pay for their equipment rental. That would also have been inexpensive. Morgan! First of All, CONGRATS on being Member of the month. You are fantastic and have given me a ton of Ideas!! I have to ask with whom you are booking your excursion?? 15$ per person, that is awesome! Can you send me the details. I am planning our wedding for June 30 2009. Thanks! -
So, for those of you who don't know me, I 'm Virginia. I got engaged at the Keith Urban concert to my long time sweetie, while Keith serenaded us back in December. It was a beautiful moment. See picture <---- Fast track 6 months, we finally have our resort picked out. DREAMS TULUM!! Our date, June 30 2009!! So, we decide to have a nice, low-key, Mexican Fiesta theme get together. We were just going to through it ourselves, but my sister-in-law insisted. So this weekend, on Sunday 25 of ours closest friends and relatives will be celebrating with us, a few margaritas and a sombrero! This is the long weekend, as such, it is the last weekend my parents are in town (they live 10 hours away) before my brother's wedding this July. Hence the Engagement party, on the Sunday because my future sister in law's mom is throwing her a bridal shower. Needless to say, hectic weekend! Here's hoping that I keep my sanity! And have a few margaritas along the way!
-
I invited people that will also be invited to the wedding. Although some people that will be attending the party will not be going to the wedding for financial reasons. It is this Sunday, I will let you know how it goes!

FABULOUS HAIR! The best I have seen in a while.

Hi there!! I was on Alesse for about 5 years. No problems whatsoever. I have since switched to the "no name" version of Aviane. It is made with the same percentage of estrogen so you body doesn't notice the change, but your wallet does. Talk to your pharmacist about it

I just cannot wait to get married at Dreams now! We were planning on getting one of the packages, so that we could have a sit down dinner. Would you say that was not worth it? Was the Buffet set up good? Was it still special? Anything else you can recommend to a Dreams Tulum bride? OH! Can you let me know if you have any problems registering your marriage with the province? One of our major concerns is the paperwork, bllod test, the 4 day pre-wedding requirement etc. So we are considering getting married here first... Thank you so much!
