Congrats! I've heard Dreams La Romana is a beautiful resort so I'm sure you'll have a beautiful wedding there!

when I tried searching for this, I could only find vacation packing lists, but I wanted a list of all the wedding items I needed to pack (so I wouldn't forget anything)... So I made my own! I added items that I'm bringing down and thought I would post it in case other brides need a check list of this sort.. Hope this helps! Let me know if you think I'm missing anything! Congrats on booking the resort and photographer! I think those are probably the most important things to book, so once those are done, it's smooth sailing from there! I'm not doing a TTD session, but I definitely would buy a cheaper dress for it. I wouldn't want to ruin my wedding dress either!

So it looks like a bunch of my wedding guests are finding Paradisus pricey, but they still want to come to the wedding so they're staying at another all inclusive hotel. The thing is, because of these guest pass/entry fees that all these hotels charge outside guests, I don't know how I'm going to see any of the wedding guests who aren't staying at Paradisus. I feel bad because they're coming all the way to Punta Cana and I don't want to leave them out because they are staying at another hotel, but I really can't afford to pay a $95 guest pass per person every time they want to visit me at Paradisus.. Did/Does anyone else have this problem? Is it really impossible to sneak outside guest inside the hotel? I'm hoping I'm not the only bride who's dealing with this!

I feel your pain, I have a nightmare FSIL too! At first my FSIL was great about us getting married, and was coming to our DW without a doubt. However, then she got engaged and suddenly everything was about her. She decided to have her wedding date a week later than ours even though she's not working and could have her wedding date whenever she wanted! This is leaving my FI's family members caught in the middle, as they have to either come to our DW or stay home and attend my FSIL's wedding. We have to cut our honeymoon short, in order to attend my FSIL's wedding, even though she's not even bothering to come to ours (she was offered a paid flight and hotel stay from my FI to come, and still refused, because she will only come if we pay for her FI to come too.. Um he HAS A JOB!). Some people are just a$$holes even when they're family. I'm just happy I don't have to deal with her at my wedding...

I agree with the rest of the posts, that you should have the wedding you want. I wanted a traditional wedding at home at first, but started freaking out at the thought of having to get married in front of a huge crowd of strangers and spending thousands of dollars on people that I didn't even know that well ... The only thing I would warn you about a destination wedding is that there are probably going to be people who are important to you that won't or can't come. I gave my guests almost 2 YEARS in advance to plan and save up to come to DW, and at the time, everyone was saying that they were "definitely coming" but now that there are less than 3 months before the big day, only about 1/3 of those people are actually coming. This seems to be the case with most DW brides...

I totally understand how nerve wracking it is when you're waiting to secure the date, but you're having to wait, like forever! I have Teresa as my manager too. It took a while to get things booked for me too, and if it makes you feel better, I booked my wedding only 3 months before the wedding date (had to move it from mexico because of the swine flu), and my chosen date was still available, as was my photographer! If you're really worried, you could call the hotel directly and book your date with whichever romance manager is working that day, and they can forward that info to Teresa so she can start helping you plan the rest of the wedding

What type of wedding are you planning to have (symbolic, catholic, civil/legal, etc)? How many guests will be coming? If you're having a wedding with many guests, it may be cheaper to have a wedding at an all inclusive resort since you can usually have a free reception if you eat at one of the resort restaurants..

Six Senses Spa at The PUNTACANA Hotel might do hair styling.. I'm not sure that they would come to your hotel, but if you go there you probably won't have to pay for a day pass since it's not an all inclusive hotel...

I like the idea of a beach reception too, but I'm worried that weather like rain and wind will make it difficult.. As well, your party could be in the dark if the hotel surroundings don't have a lot of lighting.. But beach receptions do make for great photos!

Hi DR brides, I've had to move my mexico wedding to the DR (thanks to the swine flu) and am planning to have it at Paradisus Punta Cana. I've sent in the deposit to confirm my date, but I haven't heard back from the WC yet. How long did you all have to wait for your date confirmation?

I'm having a small number of guests attending my wedding at Dreams, like less than 20 or 25 people and I'm not sure if this is too small of a group to have dancing afterwards? Maybe we should just all go out to a club/bar instead? What do you guys think? For the brides who had a small guest attendance to their wedding, did you do anything after the dinner?

I'm not getting married at Crown Plaza, but I've stayed there and it's a really nice hotel. It's really close to the little town of San Jose.. When I went there it was really quiet, which is nice because it was like we had the whole hotel to ourselves.. Really nice beach area and a few pools...

I am one of those brides who is having a wedding at Dreams where there is another wedding happening at the same time. To be honest I was a bit worried about it, but our receptions are happening at opposite ends of the hotel and our ceremonies are hours apart, so I'm sure we won't run into each other! I think Dreams wouldn't be such a popular wedding destination if there were many unhappy brides who felt that their day was ruined by having another wedding on the same day.. It happens so often, that I think most brides don't even know that there's another wedding happening on the same day, until they arrive... Mineaux, are you thinking of a having your wedding on day where there is another wedding going on?

For those who are using those paper lanterns for their wedding, what size did you get? I'm looking at the 12" ones, but wondering if they're too small?

Thanks DJ Mijares for figuring everything out! I'm really pissed off that my WC told me that you weren't allowed at Dreams "due to problems in the past" when this wasn't true at all! I'm guessing she did this because she was pushing me to choose the more expensive DJ that was recommended by Dreams. All I can say is that I AM NOT IMPRESSED with how unprofessional my Dream WC is being right now...
