  1. Hello all you Bay Area lovelies!!! I was wondering if anyone was interested in getting together one weekend for brunch or something. I think it would be so nice to meet some of the past/future brides on the forum, I think I was also a wee bit envious of Maura and all her friends in Chi-town too I was thinking maybe a saturday or sunday in May...Let me know what you guys think!
  2. I just gave up sugar, so I am going to pass on this one. But it makes me fondly remember my college days when we used to walk to Georgetown to stand in line down the block for ice cream! The best!!!
  3. I think the beach house idea is great. I was recently trying to plan a reunion for my sorority sisters. We were planning to rent a house in Hilton Head. I think hanging around with the girls and cooking and relaxing is a great way to catch up. I love the gift idea that Kat mentioned above too!!! Sounds like a lot of fun!!!
  4. Carly - that is sooo exciting!!! I can't wait to see the pics and hear all about it. I think it's probably normal to get that feeling, and I am sure some of the past brides can share that with you. That's so cool that you feel like you have everything under control! That is exactly how I would like to feel 3 weeks out. You're going to have the time of your life!!!
  5. Haven't seen either of them, but the dessy is a great idea for TTD! You should just go try them on. Seeing the dress on the internet is one thing and trying it on is something comepletely different. Unless you are someone who knows her body and what will definitively work or not work, i would not get your heart set on one or two dresses. So many people have told me what I like in pictures might not work on me. And what works/does not work on someone else might work differently for you - especially in wedding dresses. I say go out there Marie, and try on a million dresses (or a couple you love)

  8. Are you catholic? Maybe Marie was your confirmation name?
  9. Thanks for sharing this Glenda. It made me think about certain things Dean & I have never discussed. Some things I have never even thought of. It is really important to consider some of the challenges that we will face as a couple. It won't always be roses. Thanks again for posting this!
  10. Quote: Re: Study shows bananas make baby boys -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- well most everyone will be happy to hear that! Ann, you didn't happen to keep a food diary at the time leading up to conception did you I would love to keep a running tally of the 08 BDW babies. Everyone I know in 2008 has had girls. The count is about 15 to 1 right now...I'm pulling for Nugget to even out the odds!!!
  11. Great idea Alyssa. Thanks for sharing. I am about to do a search for readings. I want atleast one.
  12. I'm too scared to click there. Especially since I need to go watch the past episodes. I'll be in front of the computer tonite!
  13. Anyone want a baby boy? Read on...I'm still not sure how they can make conclusive statements LONDON, England (CNN) -- Women can influence the gender of their child with what they eat before they conceive, according to new research that lends scientific support to age-old superstitions about pregnancy. The study of 740 women showed that higher calorie intake led to a higher probability of a male birth. The discovery shows higher calorie intake prior to conception can significantly increase the chances of having a son while women on restricted diets are more likely to produce daughters. Scientists at Britain's Oxford and Exeter Universities, who studied eating habits of 740 women during their first-time pregnancies, say that their findings seem to back certain traditional links between diet and gender while disproving others. "We were able to confirm the old wives' tale that eating bananas and so having a high potassium intake was associated with having a boy, as was a high sodium intake," research leader Fiona Mathews, a specialist in mammalian biology at Exeter University, told the Guardian newspaper. "But the old take about drinking a lot of milk to have a girl doesn't seem to hold up. In fact, more calcium meant they were again more likely to have a boy." Mathews said the study pointed to a simple technique to influencing the chances of a male birth: Eating a bowl of cereal for breakfast. "If you want a boy, eat a healthy diet with a high calorie intake, including breakfast," she told New Scientist magazine. Health Library MayoClinic.com: Health Library "Of women eating cereals daily, 59 percent had boys, compared with only 43 percent who bore boys in the group eating less than a bowlful per week." The researchers said that a higher calorie intake prior to conception can increase the chances of having a son from ten to 11 boys in every 20 births, according to the study published in the Proceeding of the Royal Society B. They said it could explain why male births in richer countries are experiencing a slight reduction.
  14. Quote: Re: Someone else's wedding -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm sorry you're having trouble with the $$$ part of being a BM. It's probably helpful for the current/future brides to hear about your situation as a reminder on how to treat their girls. this is such a great point. I am trying to keep this in mind as I plan....
  15. Lucy - this was so timely. I just sent to a guy at my job who is taking everything too seriously!!!
  16. Jenny from the block you looked H-O-T!!! I am so glad this all worked out for you!
  17. I totally forgot about this. I have to run out and get our admin flowers right now!!!
  18. Quote: Re: Hyperpigmentation Anyone? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- heyyyyy I'm here hehe Yea, hyper and hypo pigmentations are really annoying pains in the butts. My two suggestions have already been said - 1. Microdermabrasion and 2. Laser Facials (Photo Facial). Micro will help, but if the hyperpigmentation keeps coming back, then you need something stronger such as the laser facial. I'm not a fan of putting a bleach on your skin.. in my opinion, I wouldn't want it to cause anymore damage. You can even check out a plastic surgeon that does this type of skin treatments. I knew you'd have an answer!
  19. 45 minutes this morning...I am sore. I feel like this is the first time I have worked out in days...maybe i am working new muscles. I'll go with that!
  20. I love the tapacio!!! Have you heard of the hot sauce diet? This doctor put hot sauce (I like to think it was tapacio) on everything and he lost a ton of weight. Not hard to figure out how that worked....who the hell wants their mouth on fire all day, every day?
  21. Quote: Re: Need help with BLUE wedding shoes... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Glad to know I am not alone in this crazy thought of fun blue shoes. Fortunately for me the only part I have to worry about it the reception (probably going to put them back on for dancing, my FI is 6'3" and I am 5'4"). I bought dyeable heels and am going to pic a fun blue. I would think flip flops may be your best bet, easy to take on and off if you need to. It's such a fun and easy way to get your "something blue"
  22. OMG - my friend who works with me just came back from her "photo facial" yesterday administered by her dermatologist. (We share the same derm and she is getting married in Sept). Well she had hyperpigmentation and he recommended this facial that erases sun damage. He spread gel over her face and put eye goggles on her and then went over her entire face with a laser. Today her face is very swollen and all her freckles are very dark. I had a similar procedure done to erase a few small sun spots on my cheeks last year, but not my whole face. she said she was red as a tomato last nite and had to apply ice packs!!! She said it hurt sooooo bad. Has anyone ele heard of a "photo-facial?" - Jenny is an aesthetician....maybe she has some insight...Jenny?? are you out there
