Tim doesn't like me to kill spiders because he says they kill the other bugs... But we both hate the "thousand leggers" I just hate the way they look... and they are SUPER fast! My parents basement has those HUGE black fuzzy spiders in it, NASTY!!!! I swear they're bigger than the family dog (Carin Terrier)...ahahha! You know what doesn't bother me though, those "Palmetto Bugs" that they get down south... I'm pretty sure they're in the Roach family, but they are huge... A couple summers ago we were on Seabrook Island (South Carolina) and I had just cleaned the whole kitchen and Tim and I went out to dinner leaving everyone else there and we came home and Tim's cousin had crushed Tositos EVERYWHERE and there was a Palmetto Bug under the stove with his head sticking out from the under the stove and the MFer was crunching on a Tosito and you could HEAR IT chewing....!!!!! I swear to god.... Tim and I were in absolute SHOCK and couldn't stop laughing at how DISGUSTINGLY funny it was. I'm not sure what ever happened to the bug but it was a hell of a story! LMAO!!!

LMAO!!!! I am the exact same way! The same thing happened to me last night with a thousand legger.... I HATE THEM! I saw it dart out from under Tim's beaura and I sat up and told the dog to get it and it went under the BED... She was trying to get it but I don't think she had any luck! Last week a spider stalked me while I was laying in bed, it was right over our bed... I waited until it went to the wall and I ran over and smashed with Tim's shoe! But the best spider story of mine is... One night Tim and I were sleeping and I sleep with the TV on so I woke up for some strange reason and looked up at the ceiling and there it was a SPIDER.... Right above Tim's head! I jumped out of be turned on the lights and grabbed the vacuum and jumped on the bed and sucked it up... Tim had no clue what the hell I was doing... he was sound asleep...hahahaha! But in all seriousness one night one totally fell from the ceiling into our bed. I did get it out though... That shit scares me totally, because when I was in college a kid was bit by a spider in the dorms and it was like he had broke his foot... He actually thought he did but when he went the hospital they found the bit. I have to have his foot wrapped for days and use crutches.. I have a friend who was bit by a Brown Recluses in Florida she's had to have numerous surgeries and has a massive hole in her thigh where the venom killed her flesh.... NO THANKS!!!!!! I'll stay in PA where we don't have those...

When i sell jewelry and people pay via paypal there are fees that I pay to Paypal but I don't add those fees onto what I charge the customer. That is simply part of my operating expenses. As for Michael, I do however understand that if he is dealing with a lot of fraud that he has to make adjustments... I agree... I don't relay the charges to my customers either, that's absurd! By the way if they are charging a 6% flat rate for each CC then they are thieving you because only 2 cards charge that rate... Amex and Discover, Visa and Mastercard are a very MINIMAL fee at most 3%... I think it's another way to rip off the customer which is RIDICULOUS!!!!! -
my "pain in the ass" does this more often than I'd like him too! this happened last weekend to me... we were supposed to go wedding band shopping, yeah well he slept until 2:30 in the afternoon! Now granted since he's been serving his 90 days for his DUI, this was his first weekend home and he wanted to sleep, but.... I want to get this done! In fact we barely spent anytime together at all during the weekend, we spent it with EVERYONE!!!! So I feel your pain... don't let it get to you though, it'll happen another time...

I so want to see that!) Limerick is up 422 heading towards Pottstown and Reading just a few miles from the new Philadelphia Premium Outlets. Really simple... 76 West to 422 West to Royersford exit... If you're interested PM me, this could be a nice shopping trip! The new outlets are GREAT!!! You name it there's an outlet for it there.

Oh... but you know what ROCKS, "Cheeburger, Cheeburger"!!! We're going there tonight for dinner and then going to see "The Happening"

There is one in Morgantown it's been there for about a year or so... which is about an hour from me (west of Reading). My dad stops there if he's in the area for work. I am excited for the Limerick one though, it's only about 20 minutes from our house... YAY!!!!

Well, well, well... you 2 ladies are too cool for school now! LOL!!!! Congrats and moderate away! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

I think you are making a really wise decision... you won't regret it! Did you not see any people shots or portraits? Is everything abstract and fine art? If so then you are REALLY making the right decision. To address a previous comment. Yes everyone needs to start somewhere and you while you might not be born a photographer you also aren't born a doctor, you develop the craft over YEARS of training, studying and practice. And if it's weddings you want to specialize in then you train as an assistant for other well established photographers and pick their brains, just like a doctor would do residency.... You can be born with the talent of having "the eye" but you MUST learn ALL the technicals of the camera, lighting, posing, and NUMEROUS other things that you wouldn't even realize goes into being a PROFESSIONAL photographer! One thing that sucks about being a photographer is ANYONE can call themselves that.... and they may only work as a mall photographer . Unfortunately there is no required certification that you must have to hold the title.

After the wedding is over, who's in charge of organizing all of the people who are supposed to be in the formal photos? Do we just tell the B/G "Ok, time for group pictures, you get everyone together and we'll just stand here and wait for them". Heck, 90% of the B/G that we've photographed don't even know what to do when it's time to cut the cake - and they ask us "what do we do, where do we stand?" If we want to be sure to get a good angle and a good photo of the boquet toss, don't we coordinate with the DJ to make sure that we're in position when it happens, or do we just hope that we get the shot from wherever we happen to be at the time? I think most people want direction on their wedding day, at least to some degree. The whole thing is so overwhelming and it goes by so fast, everything is a blur. Again this is more true for big, all day weddings than the small destination beach type of wedding where everything is done in one hour and there are only 25 people. The OP was asking if they should hire a friend's Son who "has taken a few classes in photography". While I don't doubt his abilty to take a decent picture, I think people should be aware that there is much more to wedding photography than just pushing a button on a camera. Agreed as well, I have often said to a bride, "Oh don't worry, I double as the wedding coordinator too...". They most certainly look to you for direction. I am a very hands off photographer when shooting and giving direction in everything other than family formals but someone has to move things along and usually falls on the photographer shoulders if there isn't a coordinator.

You should Google "why are professional photographers so expensive" and see how many pages of links come up - pretty cool! Which brings us to another interesting topic. This thread is proving once again that digital images are the most important product these days. Most people unfortunately are perfectly happy with prints from Costco and photo books that they've made themselves. Back in the day, a Photographer would set their pricing based on the fact that the B&G would spend an average of $x on photo albums, prints, enlargements etc. Nowadays most people don't want that. We are constantly tinkering with our pricing structure, and I'm in the process of eliminating the big all day wedding package completely. For both my Wife and I to spend 8 hours shooting and directing a wedding, and the time involved to sort through about 1,500 photos, edit them, etc. people just aren't willing to spend enough to make it worth my time. Not to mention you usually meet with the B&G 5-6 times throughout the process. Give me a low key beach wedding with some candid shots and 30-45 minutes of posed photos and I'm good. I think we're going to focus in that direction moving forward. I'd rather get into the small destination type weddings, especially since I already do so many beach portraits (hence the post). Thank you all for your input! So true! You're absolutely right, why spend the time and effort if this is all they want. I'm finding it increasingly harder to compete with the "cheap" coffee table book and design companies, why would they want to spend $2000 on a REALLY exceptional coffee table book when they can get a cheap one for $20! Now we know the difference is HUGE between the quality of the 2 books but that doesn't seem to matter to people. What people don't realize that doing these "cheaper" options is doing there photographer a disservice because regardless if that's you in the images it was still created by us and anything that image is printed on or displayed in is ALSO a reflection of the photographer and if it's a crappy print or a shoty album that you are showing someone, that potential client doesn't know that YOU made these as a DIY project and the photographer reputation is compromised in the process. Because trust me there is HUGE difference in the quality of these products... Prints from WalMart, Costco, Target..... ARE NOT COLOR CORRECTED!!!! And while your eye might not be trained it doesn't me that everyone else looking at your images isn't! Graphic Designers, Interior Designers, Wedding Coordinators these people all have a trained eye and everybody knows one or 2 of them. I'm not saying that your projects are crappy, I'm saying that the quality of the prints you are using and the "consumer quality" album makers do not compare to the professional ones.

Thanks for writing it, it just says it all... better than I could ever explain it. Your right people just assume that the images are magically put onto to a CD, Website, or printed... Weren't wedding photographers rated by Forbes the most overpaid profession.... lol!!!! Yeah right, I do weddings to pay my day bills because with the studio alone I can barely do so....
