  1. I do think it's a little rude from her part. I have girlfriends that can not be apart from their significant others too long and it drives me mad. Maybe on the last night when the whole group was going to hang out together she can have her "alone" time with her hubby.
  2. It seems like a really sweet idea. I would just make sure that decorating the wagon and the getting the baby ready and stuff does not turn out to be more work and stress on you. Other than that, I say go for it. It's your wedding to celebrate next to the ones you love!
  3. Welcome!!! You will find tons of great info here.
  4. Thanks for sharing. I need all the centerpiece ideas I can get
  5. Good question....I am also 5' tall and would really like to wear heels. I like the idea of wedges with ankle straps. If you do find some please let me know from where.
  6. congratulations on the engagement and welcome
  7. Guys! Thank you so much for all your wonderful advice. Everyone made some really good points I hadn't thought about. A special thanks to all the photographers that gave me tips on how you handle the expense of photographing friend's events. Nic-Even though my FI buddy has a full time Mon-Fri job and does wedding photography on the weekend, I still agree with you that I would hate to put him out of some money that he could be making if he stays in town that weekend. I think I will discuss with my FI the option of us paying for his travel plus services. I will bring up the good point that Kristi made about him benefiting by having DW pictures in his portfolio. Thanks a bunch!!!!
  8. One of my FI good friend from college is a professional photographer and has agreed to be our photographer for the wedding. He didn't volunteer but since I like his work very much we asked him to be our photographer. My FI was thinking of covering his travel expenses in exchange of his work but I don't think that may be enough. I was telling him that most of the time you hire a vendor that requires to travel you must pay for their travel expenses plus their services. We know his buddy will give us a discount for his work but at the same time I don't want to feel like we are taking advantage of him. Do you think that paying for his travel expenses is enough as an exchange for his work?
  9. In my opinion the cost to have a wedding in Mexico and the US tends to be about the same, although it really shouldn't be given that prices in Mexico are way cheaper. What ends up making a big difference is in the number of guests that actually attend a DW. Another thing to consider is that it also sounds like you have exactly an idea of what you want for your wedding. Many resorts have very strict rules about what types of decorations or types of vendors you can have. You are more restricted than if you were having it in a ballroom at your Hometown.
  10. LOL! That is too funny. Yeah, my FI has gotten used to every other sentece starting with "My forum friends...."
  11. I am using an outside coordinator but I am still not sure if I would recommend her. She has awesome reviews from tons of brides on her website but I had a few bad run ins with her. It may just have been misunderstandings from having to communicate through emails. I will know for sure when my day comes. Her name is Irene...in case you do want it. She works for caribbean blue weddings.
  12. I had a similar situation where I had asked my FI if his best man's daughter's would be our flower girls and he thought it was a fantastic idea until we remembered that we had not seen them in a while so they are probably about 15 yrs old by now. We laughed about it and decided to erase that idea. Thanks God we had not asked them already.
  13. That's the main reason we chose not to have our wedding at a resort. I didn't want to ask for my guests to pay an arm and a leg to come to our wedding. There are still several places you can have your wedding outside of a resort and you don't have to deal with being bride #12 or something for the day. You are the only bride when you look outside resort. You just have to find a good wedding coordinator that does nonresort weddings. I wish I could recommend mine but I've had a few good and bad run ins with her. We'll see the end result when my day comes. I'm really happy with my decision though cause our guests could stay at a super expensive resort if they choose or at one of those super cute chic hotels in playa.
