HELP!! FUTURE IN LAWS..sorry I need to vent~!!!
monicaswave replied to ericaandsy's topic in Just venting or funnies
It really sucks you have to go through this. I think you should stick to your plan and do a DW wedding. I wouldn't be surprised if at the last minute his family changes their mind and get tickets to go. I have heard many many stories where one set of parents didn't really want to go for whatever reason and changed their mind as the date got closer. Besides, if they don't show and they end up going to a differnet location for vacation that year it would really make them look like asses. How would they look if his family and friends get invitations to your wedding and people do not see them there? Oh and by the way....I also agree that it's a bunch of BS that whole "cultural thing." My FI is also asian and I'm hispanic and his parents have never ever made me feel like an outsider. I truly feel blessed that they have welcomed me to their family with open arms. At times his parents speak in his language since it's more comfortable for them but they always translate so I can understand what the conversation is about. In your case it sounds like his parents are bitter since he is not marrying the "asian" girl they were hoping for so they are taking out on you. I agree that even if you had your wedding at your local city they will still make it unbearable so just have your big day your way. -
Ok so I went to Target right after work and found the bags!!!! I had to go to 4 different Targets in my area to get all the bags I needed. I ended up getting a total of 25 of them. Taking them with me for the wedding will be a little bit of a headache but I think it is sooo worth it cause they are really really nice. I am really excited. I was thinking of getting personalized ribbon and wrapping it around the handle so they can have my wedding colors. I'll let you know if that works out. Thanks again for the great tip!!!! By the way that previous bar code number had one number wrong. For those of you wanting to call Target to check on the bags before you go the correct number is 234231128.

I tried that sku # and Target said that number doesn't work

That sucks! I agree how email was not the best way to communicate news like that. The good thing is that it seems like you still have enough time to figure something out. -
OMG! I am soooo sorry that happened. That really really sucks. Big hugs your way!

I got my shoes!
monicaswave replied to JennyK's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Super sexy! You know it never occured to me to go for some fun sexy shoes. I always pictured a wedding dress with the traditional classy shoe to match it but after seeing your shoe I think that it looks really fun. I may look into getting something similar. Great idea. Besides it's always fun to do things different. -

I like the passport cover although I have to agree with the girls on the price.....a little steep. But I know you want to take care of your girls and it is something they will keep forever. It's a tough choice. -

He wants to buy a motorcycle!!!

Let him get the bike it'll make him really happy and the times he is really pissing you off you can tell him to go for a ride - always worked for mum and they were married for about 30 odd years lol Don't get me wrong...as much as I think they can be dangerous I don't want to act like I'm his mother so I wouldn't stop him from buying one. I think what bothers me the most is that I was under the impression that our finances were tight due to this wedding yet he can find the money to purchase a bike. He makes constant comments on the cost of the wedding and it really stresses me out when I start to think of all the money we are spending so I just don't think it's fair that he wants to purchase a bike right now. I even asked him to please wait until after the wedding to make his purchase. On top of that, it makes me feel really sad that he wouldn't want to use that money towards our big day and that depending on what he spends for the bike will be equal our wedding upgrades. The money he will be using for the bike is all his and that is why I am only giving him my opinion and not "laying down the law" on the purchase. It makes it even more frustrating cuase I don't have as much say so on it. It just makes me sad he wouldn't want to use that money towards our big day. Ok ladies so my FI just dropped the bomb that he has been looking at getting a motorcycle. First of all, I do think it's very dangerous to have one. Guys usually get carried away with speed and like to push their limits. Also, the city we live at is not very motorcycle friendly so drivers don't really care or watch for people on bikes. Half the roads here in Houston are in consturction most of the time so there is a good chance you will run into an unexpected pot hole or some loose debris. But most importantly we are paying (mostly he) for the wedding ourselves and I really don't think we need that extra expense right now. This made me really upset because even though I know my FI is covering the majority of the expenses for wedding I have been extremly thoughtful of our finances. I have cut down cost as much as possible on certain items and even sacrificed going on an all girls trip to Vegas with my friends so I can try to save as much as possible. He does make comments on how much money this wedding is costing and blah blah so I do stress at times with the cost. I passed on the dress I was sooo in love with because I didn't feel right asking my FI to pay that much money on a dress and now he wants to get a bike!!! I told him how I feel and I could tell it made him a little upset. I told him I wouldn't stop him form getting his bike but to please wait until after the wedding. Then, he said that we could upgrade our wedding to how much his bike ends up costing. That made me even more mad.....he only wants to upgrade our wedding to how much he spends on a bike!!!! GGGGggggrrrrr!!!! Ladies please give me some advice.

I was going to suggest the kong as well. I have two doggies and they usually get tired of their kong if it doesn't have a treat inside but the minute I put a new treat they sit on the floor and play with it for hours. One of my dogs is a Jack Russell so she is super hyper and that's how I get her to calm down. I use the hard treats for the kongs....they look kinda like cookies and it takes them a while to get the treat out.

I am getting them a gift certificate to the spa on the hotel so they can get beuty treatments for the wedding or save it for a nice massage for later. I also plan to make them nice tote bags with stuff inside.

Anyone else stressing about increasing airfare prices?

IMHO, i just have too many other things to dedicate my time and energy to than worrying about the airfare prices at this point. we are less than 90 days away from the wedding and i am ok with the amount of guests who i know have already booked versus the ones i know still havent gotten airfare. Maura, In a way I want to agree with you and feel that if people don't book their travel soon and end up paying more in the end it's their own fault. I know I shouldn't worry too much about it but I really can't help it. I know that some of my friends that are waiting for lower prices do truly want to be there and they are hurting a little for money so they are actually hoping to save money since they think discounts will happen at the end of summer. If they were just simply procrastinating I wouldn't worry about it too much, but I know the main reason they are waiting is to be able to save some money because they think discounts will happen....which I doubt they will with the way prices are going. Other people in my group are waiting so they can have more money saved so I worry that by the time they have saved enough money the prices are really high. I'm sure most of us brides have become really familiar with current travel cost becuase we see it with our own wedding planning. Other people that don't deal with travel as much, may not realize how fast travel prices are going up. When it comes down to it I do put it in persepective and realize that as long as my FI and I are there celebrating our new life together that it really doesn't matter who is able to go or not.....but I would really really want my close friends to be able to make it too. -
So I am very aware that when the price of oil and gas goes up, airfare prices go up too. I have even witnessed this myself when making travel reservations for our wedding. I have seen airfare prices increase $100 from a Monday to a Wendesday when I was ready to book for some of my family. I have been very persistant with my friends to book their travel as soon as possible but there are a few who strongly believe that after the summer airfare prices will go back down. It started with a few friends who convinced a few other friends that prices will go down and now people are just waiting instead of booking!!! And since my wedding is in November they feel like they have a lot of time. In the meanwhile, I am really stressing because I am constantly looking at prices and I see them go up and up. I even sent my friends 2 news articles that talk about airlines being forced to increase their prices: United hikes fares 3 to 5 percent, cites fuel costs - News - MSNBC.com United hikes fares 3 to 5 percent, cites fuel costs - News - MSNBC.com Their response to that is that they wont be using the airlines discussed in the articles so not to worry BUT OFCOURSE I'M WORRYING. Is anyone else worried like I am about prices I am so afraid that by the time my group decides to book it will be so expensive and noone will be able to go Maybe some of the travel agents that know the industry better have some feedback.
