Isla Mujeres is an incredible place for a destination wedding. I was married on the island June 2, 2007 and have also photographed numerous weddings on the island. Our wedding was at Na Balam, but all our guests stayed at Maria del Mar and were very happy. I have been going to the island every year for the past 10 years and have witnessed many weddings at the Cabanas. You will love the island! I recently photographed a Mayan ceremony in Mexico. Here is the slideshow from their wedding. Deneé + Jamie It includes several images from their ceremony that should give you a good feel for what it is like.

I have a great recommendation for a wedding venue that is very private, but easy to get to from a number of different resorts in the Playa del Carmen area. It's called Blucacao. It is associated with an all-inclusive, but you can rent the Blucacao Beach Club separately for your wedding. The ceremony is on the beach and the reception is at this beautiful beach club that is totally private. I have photographed a few weddings here in the past and my brides just love the place. To give you a better feel for Blucacao, I'm including a slideshow of a recent wedding I photographed there so you can see what it looks like. Deneé + Jamie. The island is a short ferry ride from Cancun and it's the perfect place if you are looking for something a bit more Mexico than Cancun.
