I just don't want it to spiral out of control or have to deal with a million details. But, if HSA is helpful in getting flowers, music, cake, photographer and can help with details, then I'm happy Hi Gilda, Welcome to the forum! Have you had the chance to contact the owner and visit her site? I'm having my ceremony and dinner there and so far so good. That being said, it's just my fiance and I and we have a planner, so she's handled mostly everything on her side. I think HSA has packages available and it doesn't hurt to ask her if she'll provide a discount on the site fee; especially if you and some your guests decide to stay there. The worst she can say is no. My wedding is in two month so I will definately share the details when I get back. I think it's such a beautiful location and I've heard only wonderful things about it! Good luck and keep in touch!

He is a registered, board certified doctor. He has taken the same Hippocratic oath as all other practicing doctor's and as such should perform his service accordingly. He's not a naturopath. Eventhough, he placed the notice on the door, it truly is a waste of time for the patient who has to come down to his office and then find that out. I think it is utterly deceptive not to communicate this to patients/potential patients when they call. Additionally, I would report this information to the insurance company, not that he can be penalized but more so that they can update his info (if possible) with his new operating standards. We live in a country where people say and do all kinds of inappropriate things and then try to hide behind freedom of speech. The first amendment doesn't cover him in this situation.
  3. I thought Hilary's comment "Were you in it for me or for change?" was very poignant. I've been a Barack supporter from the beginning but I think her speech was a hole in one with all of her supporters. It was very clear she truly is backing him.
  4. BDW Friends, Many of you know Mishka of Mishka Designs in Puerto Vallarta. She has been a wonderful resource for me and I'm sure to many of you as well. Beyond offering loads of advice she has shared some of her favorite local spots as well as ideas of things to do while visiting PV. I recently had the opportunity to interview Mishka for my blog Twelve Years In The Making and learn a little bit more about their company, their beginnings and the real difference between a wedding designer and wedding planner. Check it out! An Interview with Mishka Designs
  5. Congrats again! Everything is stunning and it looks like you all had a lot of fun!!!
  6. OMG!!! I wish I can say I hadn't had a similar situation but I have. A few years back we went to the pharmacy to get a day after pill and they had us wait for a pharmacist who would provide it because the one on call would not ..."it did not conform with her personal beliefs." I was as shocked as you are and felt embarrassed and hurt at the same time. Shortly after that experience the state passed a law that pharmacists have to provide the drug regardless of their personal beliefs.

  8. Yeah...we registered for our honeymoon so hopefully we'll get some great experiences.
  9. Everything looks wonderful! Congrats and have a wonderful day! Yay! I love, love, love your monogrammed parasol. Where did you end up getting yours from?
  10. I think if you go the route of lucky girl with the flower and veil it will be very beautiful!

My planner has done so much, all I really need to do is show up, but I still feel as if there are loose ends to tie up. We're really excited about having the ceremony at the hacienda. I've never been...yes, I selected site unseen...but it came with a great recommendation so we'll see! Did you consider it as a location for your big day? Anywho...your posts are pretty great as well and I think I commented already but your engagement photos are awesome!!!
  13. I would love to receive the whale watching excursion or cooking classes from my registry.
  14. Welcome to the forum! My FI and I are going the same route, just me and him. Same as you some people were disappointed but for the most part everyone was very supportive.
  15. Hi Kisa! Not sure if this helps since we're marrying in Oct and you're in April, but we're getting married between 4-4:30pm at the Hacienda. Since we're both marrying in the chapel I'll be sure to let you know how it is.
  16. Yeah...I know. It's great though to find someone with similar tastes that way you can share all of your ideas and learn from one another. How are things going by the way? The countdown is on for me. I think it's like 3 months and 2 days until I get married! Wow I can hardly stand it!!! Let me know if I can help you out at all. I love offering advice. And, check out my blog outside on BDWF, it's http://twelveyearsinthemaking.blogspot.com. It mat lead you to other blogs and sites for more inspiration.
  17. Hi Ladies, Just and update on the shoes! I bought the jeweled sandals and though they are cute the strap sits in a weird place. I swear they built the shoe to make your toes look ten times longer, very strange. So, I guess it's back to the drawing board! Thanks again for all the help!

We stayed at Hacienda San Angel on one of our scouting trips in order to check it out for potential guest accommodations. Although the hotel itself is both beautiful and charming, we had a surprisingly negative experience with the owner (who was unexpectedly abrasive and actually insulting; treatment you do not expect at that level of hotel and price point!) We later were advised by local acquaintances and vendors that the owner is quite unpopular in the local community and a challenging employer and that run-ins with her are quite common. Needless to say, we did not recommend the hotel for accommodations for our wedding guests. Interestingly enough, we only later ran across some reviews of the hotel on popular travel sites like Fodors, Trip Advisor and Yahoo travel in which a bride relays a nightmare experience with the owner that culminated in her wedding being cancelled, deposit forfeited and legal wranglings. I was not surprised to read the story given how offended we were by the owner of the hotel. You may want to contact the couple who wrote the reviews on those travel site for insight about wedding experience and possibly how you can avoid similar problems . . . . Good luck! I wish this wasn't true since I'm getting married there. I have heard that the owner can be quite a handful, but am fortunate in the fact that my wedding planner has a professional and personal relationship with my wedding planner, so I think everything should go smoothly. It's an unfortunate thing because it's such a beautiful location.
