Welcome to the forum! We're getting married in Cabo and having the ceremony at a Catholic Church in San Jose del Cabo. PM me if you want more details. Also try the search function at the top of the page, there are a few threads on this already. Goodluck planning!

k i'm a few hours late on this but maybe these designs will help someone else. I spent about 2 days searching online and compiling pics...so here they are: *this is the cake we're going with, but we're doing a three tier instead of four -
we set emails instead of STD's. We were in a rush because the deposits had to be in within 2 weeks so we didn't have a choice. At this point we figured its pointless to send them because everyone already knows the date and what's going on. So we're doing the invitations and we're going to send those out this summer, July or so. Our wedding is Apr 1st, 2009 so that should be plenty of time.

Where do you get your dresses...Canada
Ana replied to memz's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
you could go to BCBG, Holt Renfrew, some boutiques. I think really it depends on how much you want to spend. You should set a budget and then start looking. Juicy Couture, Seven Jeans, and More - FREE SHIPPING - shopbop.com is great, its US but ships to Canada -
I love it! you look hot!

awww! all the dogs are so cute! I love the babysitting one, its super sweet! I wish we weren't living in a 600sqft apt...I sooo miss having my puppy. Can't wait to move to Toronto and buy a house or a bigger loft!

20 min on elliptical, 20min on bike - then did bi's, tri's, shoulders, abs & obliques (situps and side plank)

Unfortunately I'm not a hair stylist, but I have 3 good friends who are...plus I've had a similar experience as you and I've discussed this in depth with my stylist. First of all, you're not being bridezilla at all! this is your hair and ofcourse you care. I think you should do what you said and ask for all your money back including the gift certificate. Call or walk into another salon and show them what happened, they should be able to help you. Stripping is the only way to get your hair lighter if you want to do it all one light color all at once. The only way to lighten hair is to bleach it out. But stripping is damaging, and if you're willing to wait a couple of months to have it the lightness level that you want then full highlights ever 4-6 weeks is the way to go. Its less harsh and your hair has time to repair. You also don't risk overprocessing. Then when you are happy with how light it is, you can add the all over light color you want. She most definately should have told you how damaging stripping is. My hair salon pretty much refuses to do this unless the client's hair is in amazing condition, and if the client insists...otherwise they try to discourage you. Here is my salon's link if you want to email, or even call them Moods Hair Salon - Downtown Vancouver Hair Salon (my stylist is Chad)....its in Vancouver Canada, but they're quite helpful. Here's a few sites on this issue: Hair dye stripping - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia What is Hair Dye Stripping? ...and finally here is a page off my hair salon's site about color correction: Moods Hair Salon - Colour Corrections and Fadage

thanks Maura..I know he's really not nice at all. Unfortunatley for us he's the only parish that we belong to and that's also close enough for us to walk to. We live right downtown so we don't have a car. I think I'm going to give it until the end of the marriage prep course and if things don't get better then we'll switch. My FI is very non-confrontational (super frustrating because I'm the complete opposite) so he doesn't really want to cause problems :S

Oh right...I totally forgot about this one: in my 3rd year of university my grandma sent me a pair of royal blue pj's with teddy bears all over the pants and a huge one on the top (which also had a teddy bear collar) they were children sized, so when I put them on the pants came to my knees and the shirt was a belly shirt with 3/4 sleeves. My grandma lives in Romania and I only see her once in like 2-3 years...well I guess she forgot that I'd aged and also grew....:S

Most stylists will actually warn you not to do it too...it seems so unprofessional for this lady to have done it without saying anything first. hahha! I totally went off on a tangent when I first read the post, stuff like this always makes me angry because you're relying on someone to do their job correctly and you're going to be wearing their outcome for days to come. I had a friend about a year ago who had her hair stripped and then highlighted and her hair fused together. It actually melted together from being so overprocessed....they had to cut her hair to chin lenght (from almost mid back) just to make it look ok...and it was still super damaged. For about 4 months after pieces of her hair would just break...and it was all from a mistake that the stylist made. It was horrible!

congrats!!! can't wait to see pics

There is a shuttle actually that you can take to downtown...but its about $15 per person, so if there's more than 2 people, its cheaper to cab it. How to Use the Vancouver Airporter Bus

I looooove the aquarium! you are never too old to enjoy it I think Chiquita covered most of the fun stuff downtown. I can't add anything to that, except that even if you rent a car you have to worry about parking which can run as high as $30 depending on where you're parking.

Yeah, they compared us to ANIMALS!! They're crazy! After they saw we put our foot down and did what we wanted, they haven't bothered us since. I'm just hoping this invitation issue doesn't start another war... that's terrible! actually our priest here in Vancouver acted the same way when he found out we were living together. He even went as far as to say that he doesn't marry people in his church if they're cohabitating and don't belong to his parish because its an embarassement for him! ummm yea....luckly we're getting married by a different priest in Cabo. Both my FI and I are Catholic, but I think at some point the religion has to catch up with the times and be a bit more progressive. -
I have black hair so I dye it myself fromt the box color and its fine. I have a few friends that are stylists and they usually recommend it to get better coverage and longer lasting color. The problem with the salon all over color is that its usually a semi-permanent. They do this so that if you do want to change its easier. The box color contains more pigment etc... so it doesn't lift as easily, but that doesn't mean its not possible. There are usually 2 ways to lighten your hair if its been dyed from the box, stripping it or getting highlights. Whenever I get bored and want to change the color, I just start getting highlights. If the salon tells you that they can't because its too dark and that they have to strip it first, they're either lying (stripping is expensive = more money for them) or they are uneducated when it comes to hair and as such should not be doing your hair. Again, I dye mine black and I've gone in about 6 different times in the last 10 years to lighten it up again. Lightening through highlighs is the safest thing for your hair. Unfortunately it sounds like your hairstylist stripped your hair. Stripping is just peroxide that is applied to your hair to strip away the previous color. Its really harsh and not very good for your hair. I had this done once and my hair felt so dry after, it was horrible. If you get highlights the impact is much less harsh on your hair, and the result is the same but it takes a bit more time. It might take 2-3 months to have the desired hair color as opposed to instant color with the stripping. I had the same problem as you back in gr10 so I learned my lesson. Your hairdresser should have known that it could be risky to strip it, the problem with stripping is that you don't know what color combinations are underneath, and if they're too patchy you risk not being able to lighten it, or worse it can turn orange or funny colors. This is 100% her fault and you shouldn't let her get away with it. If she's a professional she (a)should have known better, (b)should not have let you walk out of the salon until it was 100% perfect, and ©she should be super appologetic to you now and do everything else for free. Sorry I'm getting a bit worked up but that's just so wrong! I would be b*tching her out like there's no tomorrow. Now, for fixing the current state that its in. This is what I suggest (based on previous experience and I just called one of my best friends who's a stylist): -get the stylist to give you some hydrating/moisture treatments (lots of them...like 3 at least!) - dye your hair a dark brown (just a shade or two lighter than what you normally do) - the stripping damaged your hair, and adding darker color will condition it and make it all even -after she dyes it one color, get a full head of highlights (on top of the color) They won't be as blonde as you want, but they will be lighter none the less -use only a moisture rich shampoo for the next few weeks, and every week give it a good treatment: Bumble and Bumble's Creme de Coco shampoo and conditioner are really really great, also the Bumble and Bumble's dehydration theraphy treatments are amazing for once a week application: Bumble and bumble. ugh! this makes me so mad, hair is soo important! you wear it every day! stupid hair-stylist that's so unprofessional
