Um it took us about 3 hours to get up, and about 2 hrs to come down. Its 18km, but if you're in good shape you can get up there quicker. We took 3 hours and we were with my FI's uncle who is not in shape at all, so we had to stop alot. Also we stopped a ton after we go to the lookout, and then we started hitting the lakes, so we kept stopping to take pics etc. The climb is pretty easy though, definitely not too steep. I rolled my ankle a few times but that's because I'm a dumbass. hehe! We started at about 10am and got back down around 4pm. We took food and water up with us though and spend about 2 hours at the final lake up there. Bring seeds with you because the birds and chipmuncks love it! Let me know how it goes!
  10. OMG that would totally make me angry!! I secretly don't know if I'd be able to keep my mouth shut about it either. But I understand why your FI didn't tell his dad off too. I think he probably just doesn't want to deal with the conflict of it. Its a bit of a sticky situation and sometimes guys just don't want to deal with a confrontation. My FI and his dad had a similar encounter (although not call-girl/skank related) and he didn't go off on his dad either. If it bothers you I would bring it up to him and let him know that you're disappointed that he let his dad go so easily. Ask him how he would feel if your mom suggested something similar and your response was only a generic excuse without really calling her out on how inappropriate it is. You probably just want him to validate your feelings and your relationship and make it clear to his dad that he is not like him, right? Once I explained things calmly to Michael and gave him visual examples he totally understood. Just try to put the situation into a visual scenario for him that would hurt him if it actually happened and he'll totally get your point of view.

So we figured we'd rather spend the money and have a whole week with our family instead of just a one day event. The mountains really are incredible and its kind of a shame that pictures (at least my amature ones) can't fully capture the magic up there.
  12. oh i'll be using my own meds thats for sure that and wine! hopefully I'll just pass out and sleep the whole way :S

  14. thanks girls! I really appreciate everything. The only advice the vet gave us was not to give them a tranquilizer since they aren't supervised and there's always a risk of having some reaction to it, which is why he recommended the natural/herbal meds. Also he suggested that I get the cats used to their crates early on so that they won't be in an entirely new place for the trip over. Lets just say that I plan on drinking (ALOT) on the flight over. I have panic attacks on my own on the planes, nevermind knowing they will be under the plane. Sometimes I wish I could just explain to them how what is going on edessbride09, did you have your cat under the plane or as carry on? and did you fly with westjet?
  15. he's so beautiful! congratulations!
  16. So for those of you who don't know my situation, my FI and I decided to move to Toronto. He moved out there first at the beginning of July, and btw..I hate hate hate long distance! So now finally I'm down to less than 3 weeks here in Vancouver. We decided it would be best to take the cats home first, before the major packing and cleaning would need to get done. So not this weekend, but the following one I'm flying home on Friday night with them, dropping them off with my FI and coming back here to pack and finish up my final exam and wrap up work. But now I'm starting to freak out about moving them I bought their carriers super early, like in June so they've had time to get used to them and sleep in them etc... so the shock would be lessend. I also got them puppy training pads, so that I can make an area in both their crates where they can poop and pee if need be. And I got them an herbal anti-anxiety medication from the vet to try to help them. But I'm just so nervous about having them in their crates for over 6hrs, and 4 of those will be under the plane where I won't be with them. Minggis was abandoned so he has anxiety issues, and Abby has never been in a stressfull situation ever. She is crazy attached to me, like I can't even lie down to type this without her on top of me trying to get me to pet her. What if they hate me after this? Has anyone relocated with their cats before? any tips?? I'm totally stressing out :S and sorry this is sooo long!
  17. Amongst the gazillion other things I'm doing at the moment, my brother came out for a week to visit me in Vancouver. It was super great, althought I'd planned on putting him to work to help me pack up my apartment we mostly just ended up drinking and hiking/visiting family. Here's some pics from the trip. On Sat we did an 18km hike up to the Garibaldi Glacier Lake (9km up and 9 down). It was by far one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. The pics don't do it justice. There were even these birds that would fly in from the trees nearby and land on you so that you could feed them...so cute!
  18. I'm so excited!! I finally got to pick up our wedding bands I wanted to use the same jewler as for my e ring so I had to order them before the move! Secretly, is it really bad if I wear my ring around? maybe just around the house
  19. I'm moving to Toronto in 3 weeks!! yey! unfortunatley though, I'm useless in the vendor department since I am not using any vendors here either than where we bought our rings
  20. OMG Jackie your pictures are incredible! You look amazing and the wedding was so beautiful!!
