  1. aww! I missed this thread when I was away! Your shower looks awesome and great theme!!
  2. wow!! everything looks so amazing! I love your reception set up, its really chic. And you look beautiful in your dress I love how everything came together so perfectly!! We were in Cabo the day of your wedding, and it was super windy! I'm glad everything turned out amazing though despite the wind. I can't wait to see more pics and read your review!! Yey! Congratulations!!
  3. ummm I'm sorry....WHAT!?!?!?! that is insane!! I have nothing more really to add to this, except that your FMIL sounds super delusional. Did you tell the gf and fmil that they weren't in the wedding party?!
  4. argh that's the same with Michael! he thinks because I work from home that it means I have lots of time to do chores. Some days I do, but others I need help. I'm seriously thinking of creating a chore list and sticking it on the fridge lol!
  5. they're pretty decently sized bottles. The sunscreen lasted about 3 days for both Michael and myself and we re-applied alot, plus Michael is really tall so his body surface area is larger than most ppls. lol! All the toiletries are on the larger size.

My parents are worried about the food being cold since it's outside and they don't have covers (correct?). Who was your WC? Did you go to Desires after 10:30? We checked it out while staying at Dreams and it was pretty lame. I understand when you have your whole wedding party/guest it will be a world of a difference. I just know our friends are going to want to party after 10:30. I'm sure I'll be asking you many more questions if you don't mind. That is too funny we saw each other. We had an amazing time, so sad we're back. Take care! Definitely ask me any questions that you want I wouldn't have been able to create the day that I did without the help of everyone on this forum. You can PM me or if you can email me at [email protected] I'm not sure if you had a chance to read my review, but I think I covered most of them in it (at the bottom of my siggy)...minust the cold food part, which the answer is "no the food was warm" Everything was amazing, I am really thrilled about the service, food, etc... You will absolutely LOVE having your wedding at Dreams and having Juan as your photographer. He's amazing. Also if you go to Desires with a bunch of people it will be fun for sure. That was the first time I went in there and to be honest I didn't even recall whether there were other people there or not...I was so in the zone with my own group of friends..lol Quote: Originally Posted by SoontobeMrsDorsey Hi Krebsler and Ana- Your pics were AWESOME!!! After some of the terrible stories I've read about Riu services, I'm leaning more toward Dreams. But I know that Dreams is older and I want to the best for my day (April 17, 2010). A couple of questions, if you don't mind 1) How clean and updated were the rooms? Did they offer toiletries for the guest? Would you consider them outdated? Do you have pics of the rooms? I really don't want any musty, mildewy, outdated facility for my wedding. 2) Did you visit Riu while you were in Cabo? If so, how does it measure up in terms of quality and service? 1) I thought the rooms were creat and kept in amazing condition. They offered shampoo, sunscreen, shower gel, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and much more. Basically everything you'd want or need. I've been to many 4 and 5 star resorts in Mexico before (mostly in the mayan riviera) and to be honest these were the best rooms I've seen in a while. Dreams had their rooms re-furnished and updated about 2 years ago, so everything is in good condition. 2) I didn't visit the Riu, but we had guests who stayed there and only came to Dreams for the wedding and they seemed to like it. I think one of the only downsides to the Riu is their outside vendor policy, and the bride not having as much control over what vendors she hires. If you read through the reviews, and use the search function at the top of this page, you should be able to find alot of information on both resorts.
  8. wow everything looks great!! I love the card you made for your FI!! its so cute and creative I love it! Can't wait for the wedding pics

As for foot traffic, I wouldn't worry too much about it, there are signs to let people know its a private event and people will respect that. Its just more visible so you might have some people watching your wedding from one of the restaurants for example. On your day though, you will be so excited and happy that I bet you wouldn't even notice people observing your wedding from afar.
  10. I am wearing mine closer to the heart I feel more comfortable with it this way too, but there isn't a wrong or right way to do it I don't think.
  11. That's such an amazing picture!! I can't wait to see the rest! and Heather yours are going to be incredible!! yeyey! Matie is going to FREAK OUT!

I am guessing there will be approx. 40-50 people attending my wedding if that would cause problems for the Oceana Terrace. Any thoughts would help, Thanks a bunch girly! Hey! I actually took some pictures of a cascada terrace set up, and just finished posting them in this thread http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...097#post768353 its a nice area to have it set up, especially at night because all the trees are lit up etc... but it is definitely in a less private area. Michael and I had our dinner that night at the Seaside Grill which literally overlooks the terrace and we heard all the speeches loud and clear. Oceana is definitely more private and initmate. So it totally depends on what you're looking to have. Also one other thing I noticed, is that for the Cascada terrace alot of the guests had to walk on sand to get to the beach bar for drinks if the waiter wasn't around quick enought, where as at the Oceana they do a special bar set up right beside the reception area so its more convenient.
  13. While we were at Dreams, "honeymooning", there were a few weddings that took place. I took a few pics of the set ups and I thought I'd post them incase anyone was unsure what to do and needed some inspirations. 1) this one was at the Cascada Terrace (beside El Patio and the infinity pool). They had the ceremony on the right hand side, the cocktails to the left near the beach bar, and the reception right beside the infinity pool. Its a great location, very big, but unfortunatley its in a central location so there is quite a bit of traffic. 2) this one was on the Oceana Terrace...as the staff were setting up. This terrace is near the quiet pool in an area that is less busy, and therefore is a bit more private....although people watch either way, esp from their patios we had ppl coming up to us all week telling us what they thought of our reception. 3) and last, for anyone who didn't read my review...here is what the oceana terrace set up looks like from up high
  14. Great review!! And thanks so much for sharing your pics! I think that I actually was there at Dreams the same time as you well we left on the Monday but I think that I saw you and your FI talking to Juan Carlos! Michael and I were leaving that day. I agree about the children part, there were alot that week (we stayed for 2). When we first arrived, on March 30th, there were less kids, and people in general. The resort was practically empty for the first week. We found that if we went over to the quiet pool by the Oceana terrace, it was much better and much more relaxing.

  16. They look super awesome! and yes I did just say SUPER AWESOME!!! I totally love love love them! they're so original and super cute. Great idea to do posters they're very much in tune with yours and Maties personalities Beautiful!!!
  17. I worked with Yesica for over a year planning my wedding and she always took a bit of extra time responding, but then again almost ALL of the vendors were like that. 1st of all Mexico is a bit more relaxed than it is here, so expect that there might be a bit of a wait for an answer. If you really need an answer on something then call Yesica directly at the hotel. 2nd of all, all 3 wedding coordinators at Dreams are SUPER BUSY. There is a wedding a day pretty much, and every bride expects the WC to be doing everything perfectly and working only for them....well that's not the case. Yesica is juggling alot of brides at one time, and on days that she has weddings on the resort that bride is her first priority (as it should be..you will want the same thing when its your day). Just be patient and give yourself alot of time to plan. Also just remember that everything will be perfect, and it will come together in the end. Before your big day when you get to Dreams she will sit down with you and go over all the details with you so that you can figure out last min details.
  18. Dreams does offer champagne flutes for the toast, plus all your guests etc... any time that you order champagne it comes in glass flutes. We didn't bring our own down and it was fine. We drank champagne every day for 2 weeks too lol you can see the pics of us toasting when we entered the reception with them in my review

  20. I love your planning thread Kate its awesome!!! I love everything!!
